Who is accountable?

Posted 5/31/05 at 8:49pm by jamie

The cover up our country did surrounding the facts of Pat Tillmans death is by far one of the most embarrassing acts we have done in anytime I can remember. We have taken a national hero and his tragic fall and made it into a Public Relations tool full of lies. They lied about the facts surrounding his death, and told his parents their son died of enemy fire when in fact he died of friendly fire.

Not suprising considering Tillman's death happened around the same time the Abu-Ghraib prison scandal was gaining attention. The media spin controllers in the White House had to get the attention off of the bad press and get some good press out there for the country to eat up on. The only other thing that could of possibly eased the media pressure of Abu-Ghraib was an American hero being killed by the enemy. If it would of come out at that time he was a victim of friendly fire our country would of been in more of an uproar.

Now the press is starting to cover the death of Patrick Tillman more (read an article published by The Nation today), and should give the commander in chief more to stomach. I am sure George is already talking with Carl Rove to figure out how to spin some positive press out of this.

Bush Speaks!

Posted 5/31/05 at 4:50pm by jamie

We finally here from the head cheese today. President Bush speaks out on the Amnesty International report comparing the detention center at Guantanamo Bay to the Soviet gulag. Our fearless leader once again proved his views and ways are right and the rest of the world is well...just plain old wrong:

"It's absurd. It's an absurd allegation. The United States is a country that promotes freedom around the world."

President Bush also could not refuse the opportunity to chime in about a conviction handed down in the Soviet Union against former oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky. Is it hypocritical that George would also be in support of a fellow oil tycoon?
Now we are seeming to doubt the legal and judicial systems of other countries. Funny how he finds it necessary to comment on this charge and not the one of Schapelle Corby, the Australian (remember Australia, a member of our coalition of the willing against Iraq) who was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Indonesia for smuggling marijuana, a case that has Australia in an uproar.

The simple fact that George would spend the time commenting on the jail sentence and never wants to comment on our declining economy shows this lame-duck president has only one thing on his mind - the actions of other nations. Wake up George, we are still stuck with you for another 3 1/2 years and if you want any credibility to your name when your gone, now is the time to act and address problems here and not ones abroad.

Oh The Allegations

Posted 5/31/05 at 2:09pm by jamie

V.P. Cheney appeared on CNN’s Larry King Live on Monday. During this interview, Larry asked Mr. Cheney for his views regarding the Amnesty International report. Good old Dick played the innocent victim part very well saying he was “offended” by the report and does not take it seriously. When asked about the allegations of Guantanamo detainees have made, Dick once again played his victim role by stating:

Occasionally there are allegations of mistreatment but if you trace those back in nearly every case it turns out to come from someone who has been inside and returned to their home country and now are peddling lies about how they were mistreated.

This appearance by the Vice President also comes when another report is released by the AP, detailing more allegations of abuse.

Since Amnesty International has released their human rights report, top Bush administration officials have been working hard to denounce it and label it as lies and falsities. Amazingly, they are working so hard to discredit this report, but they wont give any mention yet to the now infamous Downing Street Memo (see yesterdays blog). Also if this report is truly filed with lies and false allegations, and if all theses detainees have colluded to fabricate these false allegations, then why doesn’t our administration once and for all prove it wrong by opening up the Guantanamo detention facility to independent organizations such as The Red Cross and Amnesty.

An Act Of Rememberance This Memorial Day

Posted 5/30/05 at 4:39pm by jamie

Memorial Day is upon us. A day in which we honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice defending our great nation. It's a time when families and friends gather to cook out, an extra day of rest from the normal work week, and the kick off to the summer season. A holiday we have celebrated in our great country for nearly 140 years.

This Memorial Day weekend though, lets take time to remember what the holiday is about, and those who do not have the luxury of the get together's the rest of us will. Let's reflect upon those 1657 (as of May 30, 2005 10:00 am est) who did give the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq and the ten's of thousands of troops who are still there fighting to this day, with no end in sight.

Now I am not saying to have disregard for the memories of other fallen soldiers from previous wars. They also are entitled to the remembrance by the citizens of our great country. The difference however is the fact that they were fighting actual wars for our great country. Those 1657 that gave the ultimate sacrifice did so in a war based upon falsified data and scare tactics used to get the support needed to launch a war. Those 1657 that have died, did so because of lies and a personal agenda that was being adhered to by the President of the United States and his cronies.

May 1, 2005. The Sunday Times in Britain released the now infamous Downing Street Memo. This memo, distributed to top british military and government officials, stated in July 2002 that the United states had plans to pursue a war in Iraq. The memo actually was a view into the near future, saying that:

Here we go!!

Welcome to my little place to rant on the internet. After almost 5 years of the rhetoric our current administration has caused in this country, I have decided that I needed a place to vent.

The leaders of our country have definitely become drunk on power, which is why I choose IntoxiNation as the name of this site. Since George has become president, we have seen 2 wars that are continuing to this day with no end in site, a declining economy, an incredible decrease in popularity amongst the entire planet, and most of all - constant scandals, corruption and lies that would make Bill Clinton look like the messiah.

With that little bit of ranting out of the way, please check back often as I am sure I will have daily rants to share on here, as well as humorous bits I find while surfing the last home of free press - AKA - the internet.

Happy Surfing!
Jamie
