Temper Tantrum

Posted 5/11/09 at 1:21pm by jamie

Meghan McCain didn’t get everything done her way at the correspondents’ dinner, so she ended up having a little temper tantrum:

Sen. John McCain’s daughter — who writes online for The Daily Beast and will soon release a book about life as a Republican — lost it after getting stopped by security when she arrived at the White House Correspondents dinner Saturday. The problem? She had only two tickets, but brought two friends.

“The security guard sent her to talk to someone to sort out the situation, but Meghan got bratty and nastily told him, ‘We’ll just stand here then,’ like an insolent child,” our source said, adding that after dealing with the guard, “She muttered to her friends, ‘Does he even know who the f--- I am?’ ”

That wasn’t it. She also complained about the air-conditioning, having to wait and get upset that Wanda Sykes poked fun at her family. Little rich brat. That pretty much sums it up. Well maybe not the little part.

Being A Dick

Yesterday Dick Cheney restated his claim that “Obama has made us less safe”. Today we have seen the right defending Cheney’s comments.

This morning while watching Morning Joe, Scarborough kept defending the comments by saying “well Clinton was out bashing Bush right after Bush took office”. As usual with Joe he is in another attempt to rewrite history. I still remember the first time Clinton publically spoke out against Bush. It was back in 2004 after the Iraq war was into the disaster stages. It was big news and everyone was going on “wow former Presidents never attack their processors”.

That may be true, but how much of an attack was their on Clinton from the Bush White House? Easy – a lot. If you would go back and listen to the Bush administration back in their early years you would be lead to believe that Bill Clinton gave the 9/11 hijackers their boarding passes and his administration was the flight crew. You would also think that Clinton left Bush with an economy that was garbage, or in other words – the kind of economy Bush left Obama.

Both parties are guilty when it comes to playing the blame game, with the only difference being the fact that Republicans cry the loudest.

But that might change.

Thin Skinned

Saturday night Wanda Sykes hosted the annual White House Correspondents Dinner. During her presentation she made a joke about Rush Limbaugh. In case you missed it, here it is:

When I heard that I knew there would instantly be outrage from the right, and they didn’t disappoint. Just for a little taste of the anger we can see in the coming days just take a look at Reliable Sources yesterday:

Now that the week is kicking back into full gear we can expect to hear increased screams of anger from the right. I can only imagine what Limbaugh will say today.

But how far off base was she?

And You Thought There Was Change!

You would never guess that if you went on the Sunday talk shows lineup:

ABC's "This Week" — Retired Marine Corps Gen. James Jones, the president's national security adviser; Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

___

CBS' "Face the Nation" — Former Vice President Dick Cheney.

___

NBC's "Meet the Press" — Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai; Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari.

___

CNN's "State of the Union" — Gen. David Petraeus, head of the U.S. Central Command; Sens. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., and Bob Casey, D-Pa.

Kind of gives you a nostalgic Bush-era feeling, doesn’t it? Oh wait – that isn’t nostalgia, that’s nausea.

Texas Rape Victims Getting Billed

Posted 5/9/09 at 8:07am by jamie

This is absolutely horrendous. Rape victims in Texas are getting billed for their medical treatment, and specifically the forensic rape kits.

To make matters even worse, the fund that is supposed to pay these bills has been ending every year with a surplus. Is this the type of conservative governing that Republicans and their heroes like Rick Perry champion?

Just some lonely county commissioner here in Ohio, but now he is planning on becoming a little bit bigger of a name:

Warren County Commissioner Mike Kilburn told an Enquirer reporter Friday that he’s considering running against U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt in the 2010 primary.

"I have always said it’s important to vote for Christians and conservatives," Kilburn said. "But the conservatives have lost their way and I’m not willing to fall into that trap."
