Boehner Hasn’t Met Anyone That Supports The Public Option

Posted 10/1/09 at 11:23pm by jamie

This is making a lot of news right now, so I got to ask this – are you shocked? Boehner didn’t hold a single townhall during August. Instead he chose to speak to a gathering of tea baggers. Yeah there is a lot of support there.

How about Boehner’s constituents contacting his office? Well I am one of his constituents and contacted his office numerous times in the past. What do I end up with? Talking points and asking to give to his reelection. This guy does absolutely nothing for the people of his district – NOTHING.

So no, it’s no shock what so ever that Boehner hasn’t met anyone. He is a coward that hides from opposition, even if it’s  the very people he is supposed to represent.

Why Rep. Grayson Is Right

With all the focus on Rep. Grayson telling it like it is, that Republicans want you to die quick if you fall ill, it’s time to focus on what he said is exactly right. Enter Mitch McConnell:

Satisfying every Republican demand short of scrapping the entire project, said Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), would still not capture GOP support.

In other words the Democrats could offer nothing more than 100% GOP plan and the GOP would still vote no. People are dying in this country and the GOP would rather play politics than address the situation at hand.

Now let’s look at what McConnell and the entire GOP view as items less important than watching their counterparts fail. Check out this video of an insurance company denying coverage because of a pre-existing condition:

Catch that? A broken wrist is considered a pre-existing condition and murderous fucks like McConnell, Boehner and the rest of the GOP thinks that is fine.

Let’s talk about something more common – diabetes. Most insurance companies won’t cover the cost of diabetic supplies. That means diabetics have out of pocket expenses of $100 a month just for the testing strips. If the insulin isn’t covered then you can add another $330 a month to that. And this isn’t a problem to the “party of life”? Nope – because these monsters are more worried about political brownie points and corporate profits than they are human life.

Interesting Pt 2.

Another just now moment from Morning Joe. Erin Burnett was on doing her morning economic talk. She then turned to the news that Comcast is looking to buy NBC Universal, something that NBC Universal is strongly denying. Right in the middle of the talk Morning Joe went straight to commercial. When they came back they didn’t even mention the weird break.

It could have been a programming error, but those are generally followed by an explanation. Instead it appears the the higher ups at MSNBC don’t want this news being reported.

Interesting

On Morning Joe just now Lawrence O’Donnell was blasting the media for not really covering the health care legislation, instead only focusing on the yelling and screaming that comes out of things like death panels. So how does Morning Joe respond to this criticism? They go to break and then come back showing a bunch of clips of people yelling at last month’s townhalls.

This reflects one of the biggest problems with the healthcare debate – not understanding it. The media is flat out failing on their job to inform the public. They don’t focus on the actual items that will affect you or me. Instead the media decides to show only the outrageous things and talk about it. Is it any wonder that blogs are becoming a more reliable source of news for millions of Americans than the big dollar corporate media?
