Socialism! Socialism!

Posted 11/12/09 at 1:08pm by jamie

Drudge has broken out the big red text for one of his “warning” headlines:

drrpsocialism

OMG! Pack up the bags and let’s all get out!

Here’s the video of Perry making the claim that, “This is an administration hell-bent on taking America towards a socialist country.”

So I guess we should all heed the words of Rick Perry, the same guy who thinks it’s a good idea to secede from the union, because Texas would do so good on their own. I just love it when morons like Drudge promote lunatics like Perry to an even bigger stage. It really does our country well.

Tom Coburn Wants Vets To Suffer

Posted 11/12/09 at 11:59am by jamie

This man shouldn’t be allowed to call himself American let alone Senator:

Speaking Friday on the Senate floor about a procedural hold that is blocking passage of S. 1963, the Veterans’ Caregiver and Omnibus Health Benefits Act, Sen. Daniel Akaka, D-Hawaii, said “it would be truly disgraceful” if the bill didn’t clear the Senate by Veterans’ Day.

Akaka said the bill represents a bipartisan collection of veterans’ committee proposals packaged into one bill so it could quickly pass. Consideration of the measure is being blocked by Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., who doesn’t want the measure brought up unless he is given an opportunity to offer amendments.

“This single senator is denying veterans many benefits and services,” Akaka said, including a new caregiver assistant program at families of the “most seriously wounded veterans.”

Having a bill like this finally pass on Veteran's Day would have been a great way to thank all the people who have served our nation so selflessly, but Tom Coburn would rather play politics with the life and well being of our heroes. This is absolutely disgraceful.

Why Church Run Social Programs Are A Threat To Our Democracy

Posted 11/12/09 at 10:31am by jamie

A cornerstone of the right has been to remove social programs from the government and have the private sector handle them – most notably the churches. Having churches run programs that should be a part of any government is a very serious threat to our form of government. It would be hard to have a separation of church and state when the church can further deepen their claws into the fabric of our government.

Today we get a perfect example of why this is a threat:

The Catholic Archdiocese of Washington said Wednesday that it will be unable to continue the social service programs it runs for the District if the city doesn't change a proposed same-sex marriage law, a threat that could affect tens of thousands of people the church helps with adoption, homelessness and health care.

The Catholic church can now use these social programs as a tool to hold governments hostage. This is very scary. Imagine if Bush had his way and all federal social programs were taken over by outside organizations like the Catholic Church. Our Congress would hear things like “ban abortion or we are gone” or “federally ban gay marriage or we are gone”. This kind of behavior could actually be classified as a form of terrorism.

A simple solution to problems like these is removing the tax free provision given to the church. If the church feels it can optionally give back to communities based upon the legislation in that area, then there is no reason for them to remain a tax free haven. Instead it’s time for the IRS to start collecting from them. The church has been crossing the line of separation more and more recently and it’s time for them to really contribute back to our nation. The tax money collected from churches could be earmarked solely for things like social programs and health care.

Hannity Says “I’m Sorry” And Hell Has Frozen Over

Posted 11/12/09 at 10:09am by jamie

Spending the day yesterday on the Veterans Day Project, I missed out on a lot of great stories (though I believe the cause was worth it). One of the big stories was how Jon Stewart totally eviscerated Sean Hannity for using fake footage to inflate the numbers of last week’s Tea Party protest outside of Capital Hill. Here is the clip from The Daily Show:

And then here is the point in time when the four horsemen road in, signaling that the apocalypse has already started

I am waiting for tonight when Hannity will probably apologize for apologizing.

Rewriting Bush History

Posted 11/12/09 at 8:59am by jamie

It sounds like Bush is going to come out of hiding:

Nearly 10 months after leaving office, former President George W. Bush plans to emerge from self-imposed political hibernation on Thursday as he starts a new public policy institute to promote some of the domestic and international priorities of his presidency.

You mean the very same priorities that helped make him when of the most disliked Presidents in history? Well that should be a great success.

But in this very same article there is a little quote that will certainly make you all laugh:

Former aides said Mr. Bush remained attentive to news developments, even if publicly quiet. “I get a lot of e-mails from him now,” said Michael J. Gerson, his former senior adviser. “He responds to the news. He’s very engaged.”

This must be a new development since January 20th. If they are trying to claim that he has always been this way, then please explain Katrina? How about his very failed push for his social security overhaul program?

Engaged is something Bush never was. He is a man that hid from reality, like a child with his fingers in his ears going “na na na na”. That fact doesn’t matter now because we are entering the age of “rewriting history”, and we will see the loyal Bushies make an extra hard push for that.

CNN Loses Their In-House Racist

Posted 11/12/09 at 12:01am by jamie

That’s right – Lou Dobbs has announced that he is resigning from CNN effective immediately. Here is a clip of him announcing it on CNN tonight:

What the future for Dobbs is, I don’t know. Perhaps a gig at Fox News? Maybe we could even see a Palin-Dobbs ‘12 ticket? Oh now that one would be way too much fun, and Christmas is still over a month away.

Gresham Barrett Sends Out A Video To Our Veterans

vdgbtwt

Not really thanking them or honoring them directly, just asking them to go to his campaign website to view this:

Yet somehow Gresham overlooks the grueling fact that over 2,200 veterans died last year and didn’t have health insurance. Gresham was also another “no” vote for healthcare this past weekend.
