Glenn Beck

Glenn Beck Has Some Tax Problems

Politico has uncovered some tax troubles for ole’ Glenn:

Mercury, a private corporation that lists Beck as chief executive officer and his wife, Tania Beck, alternately as vice president or secretary, since 2007 has fallen behind on its New York City business income taxes and has been cited for filing errors related to its obligations under Texas franchise tax and New York state workers' compensation insurance rules.

In October 2007, New York City issued a tax warrant against Mercury Radio Arts, indicating that the company had been penalized $10,927.49 for overdue 2006 general corporation taxes and still owed $7,111.03, according to documents obtained by POLITICO.

The source said Mercury’s relocation also resulted in confusion over the company’s unemployment insurance, culminating in the New York State Workers Compensation Board in July 2007 issuing a judgment, obtained by POLITICO, assessing an $8,250 fine against Mercury for failure to carry workers’ compensation insurance from March 31, 2006, through Feb. 25, 2007.

Let’s go back to last February when Beck was “fired up” over Daschle and other’s in Washington with tax problems:

Someone should explain to Glenn this little saying about glass houses and throwing stones.

Website Defending Glenn Back Issues A Big Retraction

The website defendglenn.com has been fighting back against the boycotts of Glenn Beck. The mission statement of their site even states as much in rather bold terms:

dgban

Ironically it turns out that their site was actually pushing a lie, not about Glenn Beck, but about Color of Change:

DefendGlenn.com on several occasions inaccurately reported that Color of Change called President Bush a "racist". We have confirmed that Color of Change did not, in fact, call George Bush a "racist" on its website and although we picked up that allegation from another website (NewsMax.com), that allegation is false and we apologize to Color of Change for this error.

I do have to give them big credit here for setting the record straight and issuing an apology, but I also need to offer a little advice in return. Never listen to NewsMax. That site is constantly proven wrong. I mean they are so wrong that you seldom see rightwing blogs even quote them. NewsMax, simply put, is the National Enquirer of right wing politics.

Beck Equates Health Care To Young Girls Being Raped

Sick, sick bastard:

The only rapist here is Beck – raping whatever decency there is left in America.

Did Glenn Beck Kill A Live Frog On Television?

This is the “talent” that FOX strives for. It is a sickness, and I propose that we throw Beck, Ailes and Murdoch in a pot of boiling water next.

And I can already hear PETA on this. I suspect we will be getting some press releases very soon.

Commies!

Glenn Beck gets better everyday at channeling his inner Joe McCarthy.

Eight More Advertisers Drop Beck

This is really starting to catch on and take a toll on the Murdoch empire:

Big news today. We've confirmed that eight more major advertisers have pulled their support from Glenn Beck's show -- Wal-Mart, Best Buy, CVS, Travelocity, Allergan (maker of Restasis), Ally Bank, Broadview Security, and Re-Bath.

Overall, twenty advertisers have now ended their support of Beck. We're going to keep the pressure on Beck's remaining advertisers this week, and we'll let you know how you can help.

Of course the wingnuts are up in arms over this, acting as though what’s happening is some kind of major Obama conspiracy. True the right never went after advertisers or anything like that – just ask the Dixie Chicks.

Geico Pulls Ads From Glenn Beck

Good for them:

"On Tuesday, August 4, GEICO instructed its ad buying service to redistribute its inventory of rotational spots on FOX-TV to their other network programs, exclusive of the Glenn Beck program," said a spokesperson for GEICO Corporate Communications in an email to ColorOfChange.org.  "As of August 4, GEICO no longer runs any paid advertising spots during Mr. Beck's program."

"We applaud GEICO and all of the other companies who have stepped forward to pull their ads from Glenn Beck," said James Rucker, executive director of ColorOfChange.org. "Beck's rhetoric is dangerous to the fabric of our democracy, and we are heartened that so many big companies feel the same way. We won't stop here -- we're going to continue our fight to see that as many of Beck's advertisers pull their support as possible."

Murdoch has been making a lot of news lately talking about losing money and how the media has to change. Will he continue to employ a fanatic that is now costing him money? Also I am sure the right will start screaming about this and associating it to some for of communism, when in fact it is the very definition of democracy and capitalism. Just wanted to throw that out there before the idiots start trying to say its not.

Glenn Beck Says Obama Hates White People

This just left me speechless, even for something coming from Beck’s mouth:

This can only be chalked up as hate propaganda being pushed by a major news network. Just yesterday a man was convicted of making racially charged threats against President Obama. What comes out of Beck’s mouth is nothing but fuel for people like this.

Beck And Guest Wants Bin Laden To Attack

These people are sick and Rupert Murdoch is the enabler to them.

Could you imagine the right if someone like Keith Olbermann was saying last year that bin Laden should attack our country again? I can and its not pretty.

Beck Get Pwn3d By Whoppi

Priceless

Welcome Back To The Era Of The Crazies

So many of us on the left have said that we will see the crazies come back out now that we got a Democratic President. I’m talking the real whack jobs, the ones that make you think of Timothy McVeigh, or Richard Poplawski:

A gunman wearing a bulletproof vest and "lying in wait" opened fire on officers responding to a domestic disturbance call Saturday, killing three of them and turning a quiet Pittsburgh street into a battlefield, police said.

Police Chief Nate Harper said the motive for the shooting isn't clear, but friends said the gunman recently had been upset about losing his job and feared the Obama administration was poised to ban guns.

I’m sure everyone has already read about it, and seen the very interesting connections being made between people like Beck and Bachmann with this guy. If not, then I suggest you stop right here and go on over to Crooks and Liars, where Dave Neiwert has an excellent piece up. Interesting enough, Dave has a book getting ready to be released which is on this very subject.

Of course this has put the right into full defense. Here’s Malkin:

You killed all the innocent people at the Binghamton immigration center.

You killed these police officers.

It’s all your fault.

And it doesn’t stop with her. “Jammie Wearing Fool” has really put the “fool” in their name:

At Balloon Juice, John Cole offers this subtle analysis, calling it Glenn Beck's America. I suppose when those four cops were murdered in Oakland we should have called it what, Jesse Jackson's America? Barack Obama's America? Ron Dellums' America?

What a way to inject some racism into this tragedy.

This is the exact point I want to touch on. Remember last year when that loon went into a Tennessee church and started shooting up people? Turns out the church was rather liberal, and the guy was a big reader of O’Reilly and Hannity.

Or how about the guy who was sending those fake anthrax letters to big name liberals, like Keith Olbermann and the New York Times? He was a “huge” fan of people like Coulter and Malkin. He admitted it! But that put the right into this same defense mode.

What gets me is how the wingnuts feel they can’t take any blame for this. In an ideal world, that would be true, but this world is far from ideal. And let’s take a second and think of how many times we hear of our words having “bad effects”. For example – when we held debates on the Iraq war and people on the left called for an end to the war, somehow our words were used as "recruiting tools for the terrorists”.  Isn’t that interesting how some blog or politician saying something here, can influence people to do bad things half a world away, yet, people saying things here on our airwaves and in our media have no effect on people here at home.

There’s are far more examples of this. Kind of like the old wingnut notion that “if we teach sex education to our children, then they will be out doing it like rabbits”, even if the kids are only a couple of years from being able to serve in the military.

My whole point is that words do have effects, especially when you have people like Poplawski out there. And you got people like Glenn Beck, whose main goal is to instill fear into these people. I posted perfect proof of that just a few days ago, when Beck was saying that Obama was leading us to fascism (a liberal fascist?), while playing Nazi footage in the background. His little head sticking up in front of the big screen, leaving you with an awesome sense of an Orwellian time.

People love to be scared. That’s no secret. Think of roller coasters, horror movies and extreme sports. So the right has become vampires feeding on that fear, or the adrenaline rush associated with it. They do it all in the name of the sacred rating, even if that rating means votes.

“BARACK OBAMA’S COMING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS”

Glenn Beck Admits He’s Wrong!!!

Oh my!

It all adds up to me, having to admit that I was wrong. Our government is not marching down the road towards communism or socialism. … But now I have to tell you that they’re not marching us that direction. They’re marching us to a non-violent fascism. Or to put it another way, they’re marching us to 1984. Big Brother. … Like it or not, fascism is on the rise.

“Non-violent”, which was evident by Beck’s choice of Nazi films playing in the background. I guess Beck thinks Hitler was “non-violent”.

He also tries to say that fascism has been on the rise in this country since the 1910's.

Exit question – why is this guy allowed to walk around in public unsupervised? The fascism that Beck was playing on his big-screen practiced executing the mentality ill. Does Beck want that? Is he really that suicidal?

Cry Me A River

The Morning Joe crew had fun with Glenn Beck’s constant tears this morning:

I wonder who all these pansies are that watch Beck’s show? I mean men don’t cry – right? That’s what the Republicans said when Joe Biden got choked up talking about the death of his wife and daughter. I mean just ask John Boehner about “manning up”:

Well maybe its ok to cry if you’re a Republican.
