The Commerce Clause

Something that has been really bothering me is how Democrats are saying they can force citizens to buy insurance because of the “commerce clause” of the Constitution:

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

If this clause gives Congress the power to force you and me to buy insurance from the private health insurance companies, then shouldn’t the same clause be used to force the health care industry to reign in costs? It seems like the later would be a much better item to tackle before the former.
