So many people rely on the Drudge Report as their go to news source. For those people they would most likely miss the biggest news story of the day:

Romney aide loses cool, curses at press in Poland

The traveling press secretary for Mitt Romney lost his cool and cursed at reporters who attempted to ask questions of the Republican presidential candidate in a public plaza near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw Tuesday.

After Romney paid his respects to Poland’s war dead and shook hands with a small gathering of the nation’s military veterans, the GOP contender walked approximately 100 yards away from the memorial as he chatted with Warsaw’s mayor.

I’m not going to analyze this blowup. If you want tons of reaction, Memeorandum is the place to go right now with over 47 links to various blogs and news sites discussing this blowup.

What I want to talk about is Matt Drudge and his Drudge Report. Far too often we hear that he is the go to news source. If that’s the case, then why is it that three hours after this story broke, Drudge has not mentioned it once? You can’t say he hasn’t heard the story, and if so then his title of king aggregator of news is highly over-stated.

The only logical explanation for this miss of a top news story is that it’s bad for Romney. Drudge has been working hard this cycle to carry the torch for Mitt. When the primary was in full swing, Drudge would even ignore stories that made Romney look bad, but push every little story about his opponents.

I find that rather interesting. We have heard numerous Republicans talk about Romney and how they don’t really like him. Well maybe they should look at the news site with the most visits and it’s editor, Matt Drudge. He helped propel Romney into the presumptive nominee and that should come as no shock, since Drudge does have that standing in the online world.

So when Republicans complain about Mitt, they also need to complain about Matt Drudge for helping the presumptive Republican nominee out. And people who use Drudge as their number one news source, really need to rethink that because you might miss a big story simply because Drudge is more concerned about partisanship then he is news.
