The “make you feel good” channel of FOX wanted to ignore the troops dying in Iraq, but FOX wouldn’t have it. Here is a clip of Montel on FOX wanting to talk about the troops instead of Heath Ledger.

According to BradBlog:

Despite the tease at the end of those uncomfortable three minutes, that Williams would be back for more after the break, he was not there when the show returned from commercial.

According to Variety it was FOX stations that opted out of the CBS produced Montel Williams Show:

Fate of “The Montel Williams Show” was sealed when key Fox-owned stations opted not to renew it for the 2008-09 season. But a number of other stations had cleared the show for next season, prompting CBS to offer the “Best of” package. The rerun package is sold on an all-cash basis, which is a boon to stations that had been handing over 3½ minutes of barter ad time per seg to CBS for the firstrun episodes.

It should be noted that this happened on FOX last Saturday. Wednesday was when Montel’s fate was sealed. I would like to hear an explanation from some FOX execs on why they decided to drop his show. I’m don’t watch his show, but I find the timing of this whole thing very curious. Montel thought it would be better to talk about the troops that have died instead of focusing the media attention on Heath Ledger, rightfully so, and then he looses his job. This kind of reminds me of Bill O’Reilly and his constant ignoring of homeless vets.
