Former 1/2 term governor Sarah Palin is again rambling on about things she has no clue on:

Sarah Palin criticized President Barack Obama on Saturday for saying America is a military superpower “whether we like it or not,” saying she was taken aback by his comment.

“I would hope that our leaders in Washington, D.C., understand we like to be a dominant superpower,” the former Alaska governor said. “I don’t understand a world view where we have to question whether we like it or not that America is powerful.”

Obama said earlier this week that the United States must do its best to resolve conflicts around the world before they grow too serious.

“It is a vital national security interest of the United States to reduce these conflicts because whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower, and when conflicts break out, one way or another we get pulled into them,” Obama said. “And that ends up costing us significantly in terms of both blood and treasure.”

President Obama’s statement was very truthful, and shows on the right and left, and let’s ignore the fact that Palin is basically taking President Obama’s statement out of context. A lot has been written this week about this. Instead I would rather look at it as if though Palin was actually addressing what the President said.

For the left, we don’t like that we have to spend billions of dollars stationing our military around the globe. We would love nothing more than to close up our bases in South Korea and Germany, but we are a super power and we must remain in key strategic locations around the world so that we can act on a moments notice.

For the right they don’t like the fact that our superpower status means that we have to sometimes function outside of our military might. Look at Haiti. The right constantly complained about our humanitarian requirements to the earthquake ravaged nation, as they do anytime our might must be called to action to deal with humanitarian crisis.

Being a super power comes with great responsibility, one that Sarah Palin has shown she is not capable of handling. It means that the President of our super power must be a strong world leader also. Face it, we are a super power, but if the whole world decided to go against us, we would quickly loose. So a big part of that responsibility means the President must do things like organize Nuclear summits and climate change summits. That’s two things this President has done and has been chastised for by the right.

That responsibility is also burdensome. It helps drain the coffers while putting increased stress on the nation. So yes, some people actually don’t like that. They would rather we worry about America and nothing else. Those people exist on the right and left, and Sarah Palin’s statement shows she lacks the intelligence to ever lead this super power and be responsible for keeping the balance between right and wrong that comes with it.
