Who Says Pay Is Down?

It certainly isn’t if you have CEO behind your name and you work for a big corporation:

Compensation received by chief executives of the biggest US companies surged 11 percent over the past 12 months -- to $9.3 million on average, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Citing a study conducted for the newspaper by management consultancy Hay Group, The Journal said the increase was largely due to decisions by company boards to reward CEOs for strong profit and share-price growth with bigger bonuses and stock grants.

The survey covered the 350 biggest companies that filed their statement between May 1, 2010, and April 30, 2011.

So while middle America is struggling, the fat cats are still raking it in. Really – why shouldn’t they? Employment works much like the economy, based on supply and demand. Right now we have an over abundance of workers (supply), so they can hire people for less than normal wages. A lot of companies are even getting rid of the higher paid employees just to bring in lower paid ones. Is it right for this to occur? Nope, but it is what happens.

Of course there is also a real bad side to this. Income disparity will be even greater. Our middle class is being pushed into non-existence and our standing as the industrialized nation with the highest rate of income disparity will remain in tact. Also this increase will point to a growing payroll in America, which is only the case for about 1% of the working population. For the other 99% payroll has either remained flat or sunk, which the cost of living has continued to rise.

Mission Accomplished - NOT

Three years after Bush declared "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq, the American people have a different perception:

Three years after President Bush declared major combat over in Iraq, Americans have strong doubts that the United States will fulfill the promise of his "Mission Accomplished" backdrop, a poll released Monday found.

The CNN poll, conducted April 21-23 by Opinion Research Corporation, found that only 9 percent thought the U.S. mission in Iraq had been accomplished, while 40 percent believed it would be complete someday.

An additional 44 percent said the United States would never accomplish its goals in Iraq, where American troops are still battling insurgents three years after the invasion that toppled former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

So only 9% of the people feel Bush told the truth on that highly expensive political stunt of flying onto an aircraft carrier. Glad he was so willing to quickly help spend our over abundance of money we have in this nation.

We All Support Terrorism

Congress is debating rather or not to extended day light
savings time by three weeks a year. This is the answer to the energy crisis in
our nation.

Polls show that a majority of Americans are concerned about
not only energy conservation, but also the environment. It is true that both of
these issues go hand in hand. Our oil dependent nation is causing a decrease in
our ozone. We are the largest consumer of oil in the world and we are starting
to pay for it.

The question is; why is Bush President when so many people
are concerned about these issues. Our government is being run by a bunch of
people who come from the oil industry. People in the oil industry wanting fuel
efficiency are the same as drug dealers supporting rehab. It is not going to
happen.

We are in a new technological age. We are a world connected
by computers and networks. We see new technologies coming out every day. We have
the knowledge in our nation to wean us from the dependency of oil. Our
administration does not want that. They want to see us burn gas so that their
wallets get fatter, and at what cost. The cost of our lives and the lives of our
children and their children. The greatest crime against humanity is being
committed right under our noses and it needs to be stopped.

The truth is, we have an abundance of renewable energy
sources. Our oceans provide it by the ways of tidal power. We can harness power
from the wind and even our sun. So why don’t we see more of this natural power
being harvested. Because it will have one victim and that victim is the oil
industry.
