How Anonymous Are Your Comments

Posted 8/13/10 at 12:04pm by jamie

Not very:

Anonymous bloggers beware. You may not be as anonymous as you think.

Forward Township Supervisor Thomas DeRosa has won a court victory in the action that he filed in November to uncover the identities of people who posted comments on an online bulletin board that he said defamed him.

On Wednesday, the ACLU, which had intervened in the case, turned over the Internet Protocol addresses of six individuals who made specific posts that Mr. DeRosa mentioned in his court filings.

Always remember to think twice before clicking that post button. Your computer has that IP address and your internet provider keeps track of who had what IP when. All it takes is a decision by a judge and you are no longer anonymous.

Full Body Scanner Reveals Man’s Small Penis And Leads To Assault

Posted 5/7/10 at 10:20am by jamie

This was only a matter of time:

TSA screener Rolando Negrin is facing assault charges in a case that involves the controversial, full body scanners being adopted in airports as part of increased security measures.

The images produced by the powerful x-ray scanners--detailed enough to show breast implants--have been compared to "virtual strip-searching."

Negrin reportedly passed through the screener during a training session on how to use the device, and the revealing x-ray image of him produced by the x-ray prompted teasing from coworkers, "who joked about the size of the man's genitalia," reports The Smoking Gun.

From The Smoking Gun:

"The X-ray revealed that [Negrin] has a small penis and co-workers made fun of him on a daily basis," reported cops. Following his arrest, Negrin told police that he "could not take the jokes anymore and lost his mind.

This case could turn into a great test of the legality of these scanners. I wonder if the ACLU is already contacting Negrin to offer him representation?

Government Covering Up Immigrant Deaths While Incarcerated

Posted 1/9/10 at 2:27pm by jamie

A FOIA request from the ACLU has uncovered some really disturbing facts of inmate deaths inside our immigration jails:

As one man lay dying of head injuries suffered in a New Jersey immigration jail in 2007, for example, a spokesman for the federal agency told a reporter that he could learn nothing about the case from government authorities. In fact, the records show, the spokesman had alerted those officials to the reporter’s inquiry, and they conferred at length about sending the man back to Africa to avoid embarrassing publicity.

In another case that year, investigators from the agency’s Office of Professional Responsibility concluded that unbearable, untreated pain had been a significant factor in the suicide of a 22-year-old detainee at the Bergen County Jail in New Jersey, and that the medical unit was so poorly run that other detainees were at risk.

The investigation found that jail medical personnel had falsified a medication log to show that the detainee, a Salvadoran named Nery Romero, had been given Motrin. The fake entry was easy to detect: When the drug was supposedly administered, Mr. Romero was already dead.

Sick. It’s time to get rid of this screwed up system and put in place real immigration reform.

RNC Spokesman Re-Asserts Desire For Obama/America To Fail

Posted 2/26/09 at 3:49pm by jamie

That spokesman would be the main one – Rush Limbaugh:

LIMBAUGH: I am told South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford called me an idiot, not by name. But he said, “Anyone who wants Obama to fail is an idiot.” I don’t anybody else who said it. So, I guess he’s talking about– … Politicians have different audiences than I do and they’ve got to say things in different ways. So, after he said, “Anyone who wants Obama to fail is an idiot,” then went on in his own way to say, “Gosh, I hope this doesn’t work.” … He just had to say, “We don’t want the president to fail.”

Hell we don’t! We want something to blow up here politically. We want something to not go right. … We’re talking about freedom that is under assault!

Again Republicans – if you continue to bow down to this man and take his word as gospel then the future of the Republican Party will be that as the current Green Party or any other third party. Someone needs to set him straight right now and that someone must be from the upper levels of the Republican Party.

The Democrats didn’t bow down to every wish of Move On, the ACLU, or any other left wing organization and look what that got them – the White House and a solid majority. So why is the Republicans so hell bent on bowing down to the special interest group that is Rush Limbaugh and his following?

To state, then re-affirm your desire for our President to fail in such a dire time means you are hoping for the failure of America as a whole. That is the simplest fact there is. Rush Limbaugh is continuing to wish our nation on the brink gets pushed over. I don’t remember anyone ever making such wishes before, rather it was during the Bush years or the Clinton years. This is a new low in politics and public discussion and it needs to be taken on now.

The NRA Hearts Terrorists

Posted 5/4/07 at 4:37pm by jamie

Should this organization really have such an influence in our politics?

The National Rifle Association is urging the Bush administration to withdraw its support of a bill that would prohibit suspected terrorists from buying firearms.

Backed by the Justice Department, the measure would give the attorney general the discretion to block gun sales, licenses or permits to terror suspects.

In a letter this week to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, NRA executive director Chris Cox said the bill, offered last week by Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., "would allow arbitrary denial of Second Amendment rights based on mere 'suspicions' of a terrorist threat."

We get called "terrorist sympathizers" for complaining about torture and the removal of Habeas. What the hell is this? These people think those suspects should have guns (and yes - they are suspects). How can the Republicans defend this? So you don't get a right to a speedy trial, yet you do get the right to a gun? I missed the part where one constitutional right trumps the other.

I think the Republicans should be asked if they will denounce this stance by the NRA. If the ACLU went out and said that terrorism suspects had a right to bear arms, then they would be branded as terrorists themselves. Something is very wrong here.

Abu Gharib Photos To Be Released

Posted 9/29/05 at 10:14pm by jamie

A federal judge ruled today that abuse photos from the Abu Gharib prison
scandal will be released despite Pentagon opposition. The following is the
report issued by the

Associated Press
this afternoon.

Judge Orders Release of Abu Ghraib
Photos

By LARRY NEUMEISTER, Associated Press Writer

Saying the United States "does not surrender to blackmail," a judge ruled
Thursday that pictures of detainee abuse at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison must be
released over government claims that they could damage America's image.

U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein ordered the release of certain
pictures in a 50-page decision that said terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan
have proven they "do not need pretexts for their barbarism."

The ACLU has sought the release of 87 photographs and four videotapes
taken at the prison as part of an October 2003 lawsuit demanding information
on the treatment of detainees in U.S. custody and the transfer of prisoners
to countries known to use torture. The ACLU contends that prisoner abuse is
systemic.

The judge said: "Our nation does not surrender to blackmail, and fear of
blackmail is not a legally sufficient argument to prevent us from performing
a statutory command. Indeed, the freedoms that we champion are as important
to our success in Iraq and Afghanistan as the guns and missiles with which
our troops are armed."

The Christian Crusade of America

Posted 8/9/05 at 4:33pm by jamie

There is a Christian Crusade going on in this country. In a
land where we preach freedom of speech and religion, the push is on to force
people into Christianity.

In Chicago, the residents of a public housing project for
seniors filed a lawsuit in federal court stating they were coerced and
intimidated by management into practicing Christianity and attending Bible
studies. The
Chicago Sun Times
article reporting this story talks about how residents had
to hide in bathrooms to get away from these people.

This is not the only sign of the crusade being fought on
our home front. Last week it was

reported
about a pilgrimage to South Carolina, where Christian families are
moving to the southern state in an attempt to turn it towards conservative
Christianity.

In the South Carolina of their dreams, abortion would be
illegal. The Ten Commandments would be proudly displayed. Public schools would
be a thing of the past. Taxes would be severely limited, and property rights
would be paramount.

And if the federal government tried to interfere, well,
they'd secede.

This is starting to take place all over the country, and is
a sign of truly frightening times to come.

We are starting to see a diminishing separation of church
and state as powerful religious basis such as the Catholic Church begin to take
a strong hold in government. The very rights that liberal groups such as the
ACLU have fought tirelessly to defend are now being used in order to convert a
diverse nation to a Christian nation.

Terrorists - Could be Right Next Door!!!

Posted 7/18/05 at 10:45pm by jamie

Imagine if our enemy was closer than you think - Your next
door neighbor, or the person who sits across from you in the office. It could
even be your doctor and local grocer. This would frighten the hell out of anyone
around here. Now, what if that enemy was you? Yes – you could very well be the
enemy the FBI is targeting.

In a report by the

Associated Press
, they have learned that the FBI counterterrorism division
has been keeping thousands of pages on activist groups around the country. These
aren’t groups you would think of like the Klu Klux Klan or the
Westboro Baptist Church, who thinks
9/11 was a blessing. The groups they are following are the ones trying to
promote peace. Groups like the ACLU and Greenpeace are now the target of
investigations by the FBI.

One report by the

Washington Post
even indicated that the FBI’s counterterrorism unit was
watching a group planning to protest the Republican National Convention. If this
was done by the Clinton White House, you can be certain there would be screaming
of abuse of powers. Oh Wait. This did happen then; When Hillary Clinton was
allegedly “abusing” powers to do FBI background checks on key people in the
White House. Of course, that was an allegation that never played out.

Please Save Our Great Nation

Posted 6/9/05 at 5:25pm by jamie

Why is it that the Senate Intelligence Committee is holding their hearings in
secret, behind close doors, debating the changes to make to the Patriot Act? Do
they feel that the terrorists might keep up on it and get a heads up on what
could come out of it? Nah..I don't think so. In fact it is my opinion that they
are being so secretive on the changes to the Patriot Act because they know if
Americans found out the plans they have for it, it could cause an up rise of
pissed of patriots in the United States.

Ok we are out fighting in Iraq trying to spread democracy and freedom.
Soldiers are dying for this cause. Citizens are dying for this cause. This
campaign is costing this country billions and destroying our image around the
world. But in a secret room in the Capitol, some of our very own elected
officials, the people we put in power to represent us are trying to shred our
right even further by giving the FBI greater power over subpoenas without
judicial oversight.

The first Patriot Act has already come under heavy fire from groups such as
the ACLU. It is coined as being a reduction of rights in America. Even in
Michael Moore's award winning documentary Fahrenheit 911 he talks about a group
in California being infiltrated by law enforcement and considered a threat
because of their actions. Actions like sitting around, supporting Democratic
candidates and eating pies. These are horrible terrorists in deed.
