Making America More Stupid, One Wink At A Time

Posted 6/6/11 at 3:20pm by jamie

I'm sure by now everyone has heard how Sarah Palin claimed that Paul Revere's famous ride was to warn the British. Well now she is trying to claim that she was okity-dokity on her claims:

“You realize that you messed up about Paul Revere, don’t you?” “Fox News Sunday” anchor Chris Wallace asked the potential 2012 presidential candidate.

“I didn’t mess up about Paul Revere,” replied Palin, a paid contributor to the network.

“Part of his ride was to warn the British that were already there. That, hey, you’re not going to succeed. You’re not going to take American arms. You are not going to beat our own well-armed persons, individual, private militia that we have,” she added. “He did warn the British.”

As Bob Cesca points out, everyone here was British at that time (well except the Indians, but I'll let you slide on that one Bob).

But lust trumps stupidity, so Palin's cult of followers is taking to her defense. Not only are they trying to rewrite Wikipedia, but they are also writing op-eds. The only problem here is that Andrew Malcom, author of the op-ed in today's LA Times, apparently didn't touch base with Sarah to get the stories straight:

..the British were coming. Less known, obviously, is the rest of the evening's events in which Revere was captured by said redcoats and did indeed defiantly warn them of the awakened militia awaiting their arrival ahead and of the American Revolution's inevitable victory.

The Return of Gore

Posted 1/12/06 at 5:19pm by jamie

This should really spark a heated discussion and calls of partisanship from
the right:

Former Vice President Al Gore will deliver a scathing speech Monday at
Constitution Hall in Washington -- just blocks from the White House -- at
which he will declare America is faced with a constitutional crisis, RAW
STORY has learned.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day speech is set to take place at noon at
the Daughters of the American Revolution's Constitution Hall. Gore will be
introduced by onetime Georgia Republican congressman Bob Barr.

A source close to the erstwhile vice president related details of Gore's
expected speech to RAW STORY Thursday. The source noted that Gore prepares
the final editions of his speeches just before he delivers them, but that
the tenor of the speech would focus on what the Tennessee Democrat has
described as a President acting above the law

We can expect the right wing pundits to counter with "Gore is trying to set
the stage for a 2008 White House run" or something along those lines. One key
here is the fact that Bob Barr will be introducing him. Barr has been one of the
most outspoken people on the right when it comes to condemning Bush's
warrantless wiretaps.

Senator John Cornyn Proves His Hate For America

Posted 12/20/05 at 8:05pm by jamie

To give my readers a better example of how the Republicans feel about your
civil liberties, you just need to look at what was said in Senate today:

“None of your civil liberties matter much after you’re dead,” said
Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), a former judge and close ally of the president
who sits on the Judiciary Committee.

Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.), who has led a bipartisan filibuster against
a reauthorization of the Patriot Act, quoted Patrick Henry, an icon of the
American Revolution, in response: “Give me liberty or give me death.”

He called Cornyn’s comments “a retreat from who we are and who we should
be.”

Thank you Senator Cornyn for showing us how much you hate America and
everything it stands for. You hate our freedoms so you attack them. That makes
you the same as Osama Bin Laden. Actually you are worse. He has the nerve to
attack us, you hide in Senate and make such ludicrous statements about our very
liberties.

I bet al Jazeera will play that comment over and over again while they laugh
at how America is not the land of the free anymore. What a nice Christmas
present from the Senator - giving aid to our enemies.
