Theft Of Democracy To Continue In Kansas

Posted 9/14/12 at 10:18am by jamie

Kansas is the latest to try and steal the election for Romney:

The Kansas State Objections Board is considering removing President Barack Obama from the November ballot because of doubts over his place of birth, according to the Topeka Capital-Journal.

The panel of Republicans, which consists of Secretary of State Kris Kobach, Attorney General Derek Schmidt and Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer, received a complaint from a resident who claimed Obama was not a natural born citizen and therefore ineligible to be president.

Obama has been dogged by questions about his eligibility to serve as President of the United States since 2008. Some of the so-called “birthers” believe Obama is not a natural born citizen because his father was a British subject.

“As for Mr. Obama’s citizenship, there are many doubts,” said Joe Montgomery, who filed the ballot challenge. “Doing the right thing can be hard and unpopular.”

The only doubts are those manufactured by the racists on the right. But as I pointed out yesterday, the right cares nothing about fact. Instead they chose to only believe in fiction and conspiracy.

EXCLUSIVE: Mitt Romney Behind Anti-Islam Movie

Posted 9/13/12 at 2:37pm by jamie

Mitt Romney was looking for a reason to attack Barack Obama on the grounds of foreign policy. He knew that after the killing of Osama bin Laden and the ending of the war in Iraq that he needed a silver bullet, and he now got it.

It turns out that Mitt Romney was behind the anti-Islam movie that has sparked the uprising in the Middle East. He played his cards and did so with great prestige. The film sparked the outrage that Romney was looking for and the results couldn't be better. He even showed that during his press conference yesterday:

That was Mitt smirking yesterday after blaming Obama for the problems in the Middle East.

So how credible is this information?

Well it isn't. See I have decided to play the conspiracy theory game that the right loves engaging in. Take Republican leader, Rush Limbaugh, yesterday, when he said this:

What if Ayman al-Zawahiri gave up Osama bin Laden for the express purpose of making Obama look good? Giving Obama stature, political capital?”

The justification would be so that Obama can help further the cause of al Qaeda. Media Matters has the audio available to hear for yourself.

But I'm just a little blog. I don't get much traffic or have much influence, unlike Limbaugh. Limbaugh has a cult like following that would take this conspiracy and turn it into fact. Within days we can expect to see those pictures on Facebook making this claim as fact. The minions on the right will repeat it as gospel, believing it is fact. The problem is that it isn't, just like the story I posted above.

Wingnuts Hide Behind A Constitution They Don't Understand

Posted 9/13/12 at 10:43am by jamie

The video that has sparked all the outrage in the Middle East is coming under having scrutiny, even from the White House:

A top White House official has blasted as "truly abhorrent" the anti-Islam film which appears to have triggered an outpouring of violence against U.S. diplomatic posts in Egypt and Libya.

Speaking to an international religious freedom conference in Washington Wednesday, Deputy National Security Adviser Denis McDonough endorsed efforts to create "a world where the dignity of all people—and all faiths—is respected."

According to his prepared remarks released by the White House, he then added: "This work takes on added urgency given the truly abhorrent video that has offended so many people--Muslims, and non-Muslims alike—in our country and around the world."

Of course this statement has outraged the right wing blogs. Here's just a couple of examples.

Jihad Watch:

White House spokesman endorses "efforts" to ensure that "all faiths" are "respected": "This work takes on added urgency given the truly abhorrent video that has offended so many people"

In other words, the freedom of speech is a goner.

Weasel Zippers:

The First Amendment has a bullseye on its back.

But this is not an attack on the first amendment. In fact, this is the first amendment in action. It creates the public debate. Do we really want to be viewed as a nation of intolerance and hatred?

Mitt Who?

Posted 9/11/12 at 11:00am by jamie

We all know Mitt Romney. He's a business man, a Mormon, a husband and father and the former governor of Massachusetts. But that is all we really know. When it comes to policy and what Romney will do for our country, we know nothing.

Now that is nothing new to most of us, but now the right is starting to take notice:

Conservatives are increasingly worried that Mitt Romney’s vagueness about tax reform and other policy issues will be his downfall on Election Day.

Romney’s sympathizers are raising red flags, after he and his running mate repeatedly declined to provide details during a round of Sunday interviews about the loopholes he’d close to pay for large tax rate cuts.

“If you don’t start telling people what you believe — if you really do, in fact, believe in anything — and if you don’t start telling people, yes, these are the tax exemptions that we’re going to get taken care of … unless you have somebody that’s willing to do that, Romney’s going to lose,” said conservative Joe Scarborough on his MSNBC show Monday. “The Romney people think they can run a Bob Dole campaign, a John McCain campaign … Republicans do not win by running these types of campaigns.”

And here's a striking endorsement from Ohio Governor, John Kasich:

Kasich, meanwhile, said almost nothing positive about Romney in our conversations, other than to say his life would be better with a president who would get the federal government out of his way. "He says he's got a 53-point plan or whatever, I don't know," was Kasich's rousing endorsement of the Romney agenda.

The Simple Minded, Pettiness Of The Right

Posted 9/9/12 at 11:40pm by jamie

Here is how idiotic the right wing media is in this country. Right now Drudge has this at the top of his page:

It leads to an article at The Washington Times:

Tech challenge: Obama has trouble with iPhone

On the campaign trail, President Obama is constantly talking about the importance of technology, but he met his match in an iPhone Sunday.

The president had stopped at a campaign office in Port St. Lucie, Fla., to thank volunteers. Then, for the cameras, Mr. Obama was supposed to call two campaign workers who were out working on his behalf.

But when White House trip director Marvin Nicholson handed the president his personal iPhone, Mr. Obama couldn't get it to work. A reporter who witnessed the scene said the president looked "befuddled."

"It's not clear he knows how to dial on an iPhone," the reporter wrote in a pool report.

Finally, Mr. Obama said, "Oh, I got to dial it in. Hold on, hold on. I can do this. See, I still have a BlackBerry."

When you hear the right complain about the "liberal media", think of this story. It's the very reason no one in their right mind takes the right wing media seriously. They are a fucking joke!

True if Obama could whip out an iPhone and text like a high school girl about her first love, then the right would be going after him for playing with technology instead of doing his job. It's a no win situation for the party that hates everything that isn't them.

Federal Judge Sides With Obama Campaign On Early Voting In Ohio

Posted 8/31/12 at 1:47pm by jamie

From Think Progress:

“A citizen has a constitutionally protected right to participate in elections on an equal basis with other citizens in the jurisdiction.” In Ohio, that right to participate equally has been abridged by Ohio Revised Code ‘ 3509.03 and the Ohio Secretary of State’s further interpretation of that statute with regard to in-person early voting. In 2005, Ohio expanded participation in absentee balloting and in-person early voting to include all registered Ohio voters. Now, “in-person early voting” has been redefined by the Ohio legislature to limit Plaintiffs’ access to the polls. This Court must determine whether preliminary injunctive relief should be granted to Plaintiffs on their claim that Ohio’s restriction of in-person early voting deprives them of their fundamental right to vote. Following Supreme Court precedent, this Court concludes that Plaintiffs have stated a constitutional claim that is likely to succeed on the merits. As a result—and as explained below—this Court grants Plaintiffs’ motion for preliminary injunction.

This is from the case that Republicans turned into a big lie, claiming that the Obama campaign was trying to prevent military from voting. That was not the case. The Obama campaign was simply saying that everyone should have the same access to voting, regardless. The judge sided with the Obama campaign and actually used a very ironic precedent in his ruling, Gore -v- Bush.

Bobby Jindal Begs Obama For More Money

Posted 8/28/12 at 12:32pm by jamie

Bobby Jindal, the man who became famous by blasting federal spending on disasters, is begging President Obama for more money:

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is asking President Barack Obama for more federal help as Tropical Storm Isaac approaches the Gulf Coast, urging him to reimburse Louisiana for the full cost of its preparations.

“Given the extraordinary developments of this storm and its approaching impact on the State of Louisiana, I ask that you exercise your discretion to approve the State’s pending request for all emergency protective measures,” Jindal, a Republican, wrote in a letter to Obama. “Further, I ask that you consider a cost-share adjustment to eliminate the State’s non-federal share of the costs for this event.”

Get that? The federal government should pay for all preparations being done in Louisiana. This is one of the conservative movement's shining stars and he's begging the feds for more cash. Hypocrite doesn't even begin to describe this.

As Isaac Nears, GOP Goes Into Full "Blame Obama" Mode

Posted 8/28/12 at 11:55am by jamie

Hurricane Isaac is set to hit the Gulf late tonight, early Wednesday morning. With that we have the GOP at a category five stage of hot air, trying to blame President Obama for everything.

First off we have the Republican leader and king of all conspiracy theories, Rush Limbaugh, suggesting that Obama had the Weather Service manipulate models to force the RNC to cancel the first night of their convention:

It’s the government. It’s Obama.
And I’m noticing that that track stayed zeroed in on Tampa day after day after day. And the Republicans react to it accordingly over the weekend, canceling the first day of the convention. What could be better for the Democrats than the Republicans to cancel a day of this? [...]
Okay, 6:45 p.m. Saturday night the Republicans announce that they’re canceling Monday. At 6:45 p.m. Saturday night, everybody is still under the impression that Isaac is making a beeline for very close to Tampa. It was an hour and 15 minutes later that the eight p.m. model runs showed New Orleans. I’m alleging no conspiracy. I’m just telling you, folks, when you put this all together in this timeline, I’m telling you, it’s unbelievable.

You can hear it for yourself, thanks to Think Progress:

And then we have the right going after the President for campaigning while Isaac comes. Here is what Drudge is pushing:

The GOP's Materialistic Candidates

Posted 8/13/12 at 10:16am by jamie

In 2008 Sarah Palin was picked as a materialistic candidate. She had no real experience to become vice-President and the voters quickly saw that. But that didn't stop the right-wing pundits from trying to sell her to us with such qualifications as "she's hot" and "a great attack dog".

Fast-forward to 2012 and we are seeing a repeat. For example, here's a story that Matt Drudge is pushing:

Now back to 2008. That was a time when we heard the right got after Barack Obama for being "skinny", despite his body fat being estimated close to double that of Ryan's. Are appearences really what our Presidential selection process has come down to? Well Politico seems to think so:

Overlooked, understandably, in Saturday’s analysis and news that Rep. Paul Ryan will be Mitt Romney’s vice presidential nominee was one mostly — but not entirely — unimportant aspect: Paul Ryan is kind of hot.

Upon hearing the news of Ryan’s nomination, TMZ was quick to declare Ryan “the hottest vice presidential candidate ever.”

But looks shouldn't matter when it comes to President or vice-President. Instead the focus should be on experience and plans. The right seems to ignore this.

How Dare Cher!

Posted 7/21/12 at 3:33am by jamie

Today Cher made a comment about the tragedy in Colorado:

Both President Obama and Republican White House hopeful Mitt Romney addressed the tragic Colorado movie theater shooting on Friday. Comparing their responses, Cher – who has already made her feelings about Romney quite clear – implied that Obama’s speech was more sincere.

“OBAMA! 2day He talked bout his Great Sadness off top oh his head! Romney needed 2 READ Cards 2 tell how SAD he was,” she wrote on Twitter.

I'm not all into the politicizing of what happened and really don't think her comments helped anything, but check out how one right-wing blog is covering it:

Now I can understand the criticism IF it wasn't for the fact that this very blogger has posted over 40 times about Obama using a teleprompter. 40 TIMES!

Either "zip" is a 100% total hypocrite or he is functioning on zero brain cells. Either way, this is a voice that powers the right online and reading the comments they are all buying into it big time.

Funny! Boehner Says Obama Doesn't "Give A Damn"

Posted 7/18/12 at 1:45pm by jamie

John Boehner would almost be comical if it wasn't for the extreme delusional state that man lives in. Here's what he told reporters a bit ago:

Boehner said the president's focus on Romney's tenure at Bain Capital shows that Obama, in Boehner's words, "doesn't give a damn about middle class Americans who are out there looking for work." He said voters are more concerned about unemployment than what's in Romney's tax returns.

John Boehner has been Speaker of the House for 19 months. During that time they have done 33 votes to try and repeal the healthcare act. During that same time they have done zero votes to help boost the job or economy - ZERO!

So who is it that doesn't "give a damn"?

And even more signs of delusion are evident in his little statement there. Mitt Romney has been facing increased criticism for shipping U.S. jobs overseas. These are the factory jobs that used to fuel our middle class and Romney got rich off of getting rid of those. That's what these tax returns will show, just how rich he got.

I almost chuckle every time I hear a Republican warn about the rise of the Chinese government. Are the really that stupid to question it while pushing for a man to become President that played an instrumental role in the rise of the Chinese economy? Come on. People can not be that moronic!

Why doesn't Boehner show he "gives a damn" about his own district? He needs to climb down off his high horse and look in his own backyard. Travel the 7 miles over here to Hamilton and look at a town that was a booming manufacturing town and now is crumbling. This is a town that was credited with helping to win World War II because of our manufacturing. Now there are none of those businesses left. This is a town that was a major paper producer and now the final factory is packing up.

Romney Surrogate John Sununu Thinks Hawaiians Aren't American

Posted 7/17/12 at 2:10pm by jamie

Former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu is the big news maker this week, and it's only Tuesday. Earlier I reported about his flat out lie that it was Obama who scrapped the shuttle program and made us resort to using Russian rockets to fly our astronauts to the space station. Now he's he's accusing the President of not knowing how to be an American:

"I wish this president would learn how to be an American," said former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu said toward the beginning of the call. Asked later to explain his comment, Sununu said he was referring to Obama's economic philosophy, and apologized for not being clearer.

It seems he is taking queues from the GOP's supreme leader, Rush Limbaugh, who said Obama "hates America" yesterday.

But it doesn't stop there. Sununu isn't only insulting the President, but he has also decided to insult an entire state:

"He has no idea how the American system functions," Sununu told Fox. "And we shouldn't be surprised about that, because he spent his early years in Hawaii smoking something, spent the next set of years in Indonesia, another set of years in Indonesia, and, frankly, when he came to the U.S., he worked as a community organizer, which is a socialized structure, and then got into politics in Chicago."

Spent years in Hawaii? I guess because the people of Hawaii don't know how to be Americans. Does that also mean the 2402 soldiers who died at Pearl Harbor also didn't know how to be Americans? That's a very callous statement coming from a man who never had the guts to serve this country.

Obama's Outsourcing Or How Quickly Republicans Forget

Posted 7/15/12 at 8:14pm by jamie

I'm sorry, but it's either to the point that Republicans are absolute bald faced liars, or they are total morons. Right now on Drudge we have this:

A quick click and you are taken to this:

Now, here's some real Obama outsourcing.

This morning, Kazakhstan time, the next mission to the International Space Station successfully blasted off carrying the usual trio -- a Russian commander, an astronaut from the international community and an American in a seat rented by NASA since the retirement of the last U.S. space shuttle a year ago this month.

That's on Investors Business Daily, a far cry from the "liberal" media. Reading the comments you can also tell that they aren't much in the liberal column either.

So was it Obama who killed the shuttle program and cause this? Well let's look a little bit at the history. On January 14, 2004, the President gave a speech, “New Vision for Space Exploration Program.” In it, this President said:

To meet this goal, we will return the Space Shuttle to flight as soon as possible, consistent with safety concerns and the recommendations of the Columbia Accident Investigation Board. The Shuttle's chief purpose over the next several years will be to help finish assembly of the International Space Station. In 2010, the Space Shuttle -- after nearly 30 years of duty -- will be retired from service.

Obama's Best Ad Yet

Posted 7/14/12 at 1:19pm by jamie

Team Obama is out with a new ad, blasting Mitt Romney for sending U.S. jobs overseas and not wanting to contribute back to our nation by putting his money in tax-free havens. This should play as much as possible in every battleground state, like here in Ohio where outsourcing has cost the state dearly.

It's really comforting to see Obama come out swinging like this. Mitt Romney has been highly elusive about his time at Bain and exactly what he did and has now gone to the side of flat out lying. Is this the kind of guy America wants with the keys? It's time for Mitt Romney to stop the lying and come out with the truth!

Romney's Lackluster Tax Defense

Posted 7/10/12 at 1:50pm by jamie

In an interview today Mitt Romney insisted there is nothing "hidden' in his tax returns:

"I don't manage them. I don't even know where they are," Romney said. "That trustee follows all U.S. laws. All the taxes are paid, as appropriate. All of them have been reported to the government. There's nothing hidden there."

So why not release them then, like every other Presidential candidate, including his own father, has? I think that question is even more pertinent given the increased scrutiny Romney is coming under from Democrats. Today Joe Biden hammered on the issue:

“Mitt Romney wants you to show your papers, but he won’t show us his."

Republicans have hounded Barack Obama to release about every single paper associated with his life, including the one that says he was born in the United States. Yet when it comes to Mitt, secrecy is suddenly allowed. Talk about a double standard.

But again I ask, if his taxes are all legal and he's hiding nothing, then why not just release them? The "I don't even know where they are" excuse also doesn't hold water, considering he can get copies from the IRS. So go ahead and get them out there Mitt. That is if what you are saying is true....
