Fat Bastard Strikes Again

Leave it to Limbaugh to muster up the kind of inner hatred that would scare the living crap out of any normal human. Today he managed to do just that by comparing Haiti relief to death panels:

Will someone ask Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, who is Rahm’s brother and one of the lead White House people on health care whether they’re planning cost benefit considerations for each Haiti victim. Will they consider age? Potential contribution to society? All the other factors we are assured are not ‘death panel’ guidelines in our own health care system. This rescue, however compassionate, should at least have the same transparency as Obama promised for our health care. Remember he told a woman about her 95 year old mother, ‘no, no we probably wouldn’t give her pacemaker, give em a pill.’ how many Haitians will we decide to give a pill? A legitimate question.

Court Action Filed Against FDA Over Electronic Cigarettes

Posted 5/4/09 at 7:36am by jamie

Smoking Everywhere, one of the nation’s largest distributors of electronic cigarettes, has filed for an injunction against the FDA for stopping their shipments from coming in over seas. The suit claims (and rightfully so) that the FDA is overstepping their bounds.

The FDA is attempting to classify Electronic Cigarettes as a smoking cessation/nicotine replacement device. Nothing could be further from the truth. Electronic cigarettes are being marketed as a smoking alternative, not for cessation.

The really interesting part is that the FDA is not just halting the liquid nicotine used in these devices, but the actual hardware itself. Since when does the FDA have jurisdiction over electronics? They don’t. Its similar to drug paraphernalia. You can go to a store and buy a crack pipe or bong, but when you try to use them for their intended purpose you go to jail.

So the delivery device for something that is much safer and that the active ingredient (nicotine) can be obtained by countless forms over the counter is being halted by the FDA? Hopefully Congress will take action and stop this over stepping of power being exercised by the FDA. That or maybe a judge with common sense will read the complaint filed by Smoking Everywhere and issue the injunction. Sure it will likely head through the court system all the way to the top, but I believe the SCOTUS will judge on the side of the electronic cigarette. That’s the benefit of having a right leaning court.

It’s The New Rave – Secession

Posted 4/16/09 at 3:46pm by jamie

I think back to a time so long ago, when states were upset over the federal government using their national guard troops for a war in a foreign land. In a time when a small town in California didn’t want military recruiters there, so that town would quickly be labeled as some sort of traitor.

That was way back then – like in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008.

Now here we are in 2009 and the Republicans have a new favorite talking point – secession! It started with Rick Perry of Texas yesterday, and today the state of Georgia is threatening the same thing.

Maybe we should just tell them goodbye. We immediately stop all federal funding to these states. We pull the border agents out of Texas and move them to the border of Texas and its neighboring states America. Georgia also gets its borders sealed off. If people want to travel from their to here, or vice-a-versa, they must go through the same routine they do at the northern and southern borders.

If you’re from Texas or Georgia, and caught in this country without having gone through our border check points, then you will be treated like an illegal immigrant. We can hold you until ready to deport you.

If you are a citizen of one of these former states, there is a way for you to become an American. Just call INS and they will start the paperwork. I got a brother in law from Canada who just spent the last year and thousands doing it. Maybe he will start giving advice for you.

I do have to say that I will miss Georgia. Texas? Not so much so. As matter of fact there is a perfect benefit of losing Texas as a state – no more retarded as Presidents from Texas! That right there is enough reason to tell them to fuck off.

The Company That Constantly Violates Employment Laws Gets Political

Posted 8/1/08 at 8:28am by jamie

That company, Wal-Mart, is telling managers that if a Democrat wins the White House it will hurt the employees.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is mobilizing its store managers and department supervisors around the country to warn that if Democrats win power in November, they'll likely change federal law to make it easier for workers to unionize companies -- including Wal-Mart.

In recent weeks, thousands of Wal-Mart store managers and department heads have been summoned to mandatory meetings at which the retailer stresses the downside for workers if stores were to be unionized.

Now that is rather amazing coming from the monster corporation who has lost countless law suits for violating employment laws. I guess to Wal-Mart, employees being forced to work off the clock or not have breaks should be considered a benefit.

Presumptive Nominee Obama

Posted 5/7/08 at 8:35am by jamie

It sounds more like Clinton is facing the fact she can't win, without screwing over the process. Even if Michigan and Florida get seated as is, Obama wins the popular vote, and she has no way to catch up with pledged delegates.

A lot of speculation has gone on that Clinton has been holding on, waiting for some big controversy to emerge about Obama. Well following Rev. Wright, Obama has shown he can muster through the controversies.

What happened last night was the exact opposite of what Clinton needed. For it to have been a good night for her, Indiana needed to be called early with a decisive lead and North Carolina needed to go on into the wee hours of the morning, and end up being a nail bitter. That didn't happen. All her arguments for winning are now moot.

It also looks like some of her supporters are starting to think the same way. I kind of expect to see more super delegates declare for Obama in the next couple of days. They may wait a couple of days, to see what Clinton does, but the party wants this thing over with so we can focus on John McCain. The DNC doesn't want to dump all it's money into ads against McCain, and having the Obama money machine will be of great benefit.

Finally, speaking of money, Clinton may not actually drop out. Instead she will probably do a suspension of her campaign so she can continue to try and raise money. She is in major debt, and this would give her a path to nibble away at that.

Those Sweet Stock Options

Posted 3/18/08 at 9:35am by jamie

Stock options seem to be the big "benefit" when companies hire people. They entice prospective employees with options to buy their stocks at reduced rates, or matching what they buy. But what happens if the company gets sold for a ridiculously discounted rate?

More so than other firms on Wall Street, Bear had encouraged its employees, from secretaries to top executives, to be long-term holders in the company's stock, and the employees own over 30 percent of the company.

"My life has been flushed down the drain," said one person. There was talk Monday that with their life savings nearly depleted, some executives had moved quickly, putting their weekend homes on the market.

You not only face losing your job, but also any security you may have had in such circumstances, as well as retirement.

I used to work for Lowes and they did the same thing. When you were hired they tried their best to sell you on their stock options program. Numerous employees did so and that was the only stock they owned. I used to tell them how idiotic of a decision that was. At least you should diversify your portfolio some. Their stock hasn't done anything like Bear Stearns, but in this economic roller coaster, you never know.

Piecing Together the U.S.A. Purge

Posted 4/11/07 at 9:23am by jamie

Today's New York Times has a look at a newly released report on voter fraud that is very interesting. It appears that a lot of politics may have gone into this report to change the outcome, and the final report was approved by the 2 Republicans and 1 Democrat on the commission.

A federal panel responsible for conducting election research played down the findings of experts who concluded last year that there was little voter fraud around the nation, according to a review of the original report obtained by The New York Times.

Instead, the panel, the Election Assistance Commission, issued a report that said the pervasiveness of fraud was open to debate.

The revised version echoes complaints made by Republican politicians, who have long suggested that voter fraud is widespread and justifies the voter identification laws that have been passed in at least two dozen states.

So there wasn't fraud before there was. This is the Republican's red herring - that the evil Democrats have colluded to keep Republicans from the polls. Remember - the attorneys were purged for not going after "voter fraud" cases, even though they couldn't even get indictments on them.

Read the entire article. It shows you the great risk our democracy is at. Not because of this "voter fraud" stuff, but because the Republicans are trying to criminalize democracy to their benefit.
