The World Can't Wait

For Bush to leave:

But much of the enthusiasm comes from anticipation of President Bush's departure, according to several analysts. U.S. prestige and popularity in much of the world have sunk to historic lows since Bush took office, over such issues as the Iraq war and climate change. Many analysts said the election has created high expectations that the new president will be more in tune with the rest of the world.

"In many capitals people have been waiting for this change for some time," said Rosa Balfour, a senior analyst at the European Policy Center, a Brussels-based research group.

And may I say that we share in your enthusiasm world. Chimp be gone is approaching - a hail 2009!

John Howard Goes Down

Posted 11/24/07 at 9:09am by jamie

When you follow Bush so closely, your country will kick you out of office:

Kevin Rudd's Labor Party won Australia's election, ending John Howard's 11-year rule after promising to tackle climate change, restore workers' bargaining power and withdraw Australian troops from Iraq.

Labor won 83 of the 150 seats in the House of Representatives, gaining 23 seats from 2004, according to Australian Broadcasting Corp. projections. The Liberal-National coalition has 58 seats, with two independents and seven still undecided, ABC said.

Add this to the news from yesterday that Poland's new Prime Minister is saying all his troops will be out within the next year, and we are left with a coalition of the dwindling. Amazing how something like this happens on the other side of the world, and yet it should leave a big empty feeling in the White House. Bush is a plague on other world leaders, and their best chance of viability is to stay the hell away from him and denounce his actions.

Bush's Global Warming Plan Just BS

Posted 6/6/07 at 12:31pm by jamie

Did anyone thing otherwise?

The United States said on Wednesday it opposed setting firm targets for greenhouse gas cuts at a G8 summit but offered reassurance that its plan for fighting climate change would not undermine U.N. efforts.

President George W. Bush told German Chancellor Angela Merkel that he had a "strong desire" to work with her on greenhouse gas cuts beyond 2012 even though he has resisted her appeals for agreement at the June 6-8 summit in Germany.

Police and protesters clashed near the summit venue on the Baltic coast as G8 leaders gathered for a meeting likely to be dominated by issues including climate change, missile defences and Russia's frosty relations with its partners.

Well Bush, that certainly won't make those tree hugging liberals happy - like the NRA:

Nobody loves a loser. Repudiated at the polls last November, President George W. Bush is now being dissed by the National Rifle Association, his once faithful ally. More surprising still, the issue sundering the former friends is one new to the gun-rights organization: conservation.

"The Bush administration has placed more emphasis on oil and gas than access rights for hunters," complained Ronald Schmeits, an NRA vice president, to the Washington Post. The NRA's 4.2 million members increasingly find themselves locked out of prime wildlife areas, not by jackbooted federal bureaucrats but by the oil and gas industry. "Gun rights are still number one," said Schmeits, "but there will be more time and effort spent on this issue as we move forward."

Repuke Debate

Posted 6/5/07 at 7:13pm by jamie

Huckabee was just praising Reagan for the "defeat of the Soviet Union" and then immediately talked about how we must defeat the Taliban. Interesting point. True when Reagan was "defeating the Soviet Union", he was using the Taliban to help. These people really need some lessons in history.

UPDATE:

Aravosis gives Huckabee a little lesson on Reagan - in particular his birthday.

UPDATE 2:

Shut it McCain! This guy is trying everything he has to keep the mic. I wonder if anyone is doing a time share chart like the Dodd campaign did. If you know of one, let me know. Here we go (thanks to the Dodd campaign):

UPDATE 3:

There is a terrible buzzing that is cutting out the microphones. Wolf has announced it is caused by lightning. God has spoken to Pat Robertson and told him that "Republicans are not meant to debate". </snark>

UPDATE 4:

Climate change time. Rudy just said he believes what the scientists are saying that it is man made. DAMN THAT LIBERAL!!!!

Romney - let's drill in Anwar!

McCain - wants more nuclear power and invest in alternative fuels. Nothing about drilling.

UPDATE 5:

They want to pardon Scooter! One of the arguments was that "Clinton only lost his law liscense". Yeah - what about that whole impeachment thing? Brownback was still using the old GOP lie that Plame was not covert. HEY MORON - that has been proved false time and time again!

UPDATE 6:

Health Care - Rudy said all the Democrats proposed was socialized medicine and that it would destroy medicine in America. Yeah - god forbid we have health care like Canada and the UK. Look how diseased they are!

UPDATE 7:

Forgot about this one earlier. The question was asked about what to do with Bush. Thompson had the great answer - "I wouldn't send him to the United Nations".

Blair's Party Speaking Out - Trouble in Paradise

Posted 11/16/06 at 3:34pm by jamie

It looks like Bush is starting to get a real lonely feeling in the international community. Members of Tony Blair's own party are now starting to blast our incompetent President:

A senior Labour backbencher has attacked the Bush administration, describing it as "incompetent" and guilty of "appalling complacency."

Former minister of state Nick Raynsford's criticism comes during a period in which transatlantic relations are under strain across a range of issues from the Middle East to climate change.

In an interview with ePolitix.com Raynsford, who was in the government until last year's reshuffle, expressed his satisfaction that the Democrats won last week's

"It's absolutely right that the American people have expressed their concern over the situation in Iraq and about the Bush administration and I'm delighted that Democrats now have control of both houses," he said.

"I think that will result in a shift of attitude and there are many areas of American policy should be changed."

On the environment he expressed his anger at the Republicans for failing to sign up to measures on reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

Perhaps we can now mend our broken ties around the globe. Of course that has to be done at the expense of our President, a cost I am sure many won't complain about.

McCain Still On The Flip Flop.

Posted 5/3/06 at 4:54pm by jamie

David Ignatius has an interesting OpEd in today's Washington Post about John McCain. The piece over all paints McCain as a Conservative by all definitions of the term. There is however one part that really struck my curious side:

"I don't want it that badly," McCain says. "I will continue to do what is right. I will continue to pursue torture, climate change. If that means I can't get the Republican nomination, fine. I've had a happy life. The worst thing I can do is sell my soul to the devil." He explains: "Every time I did something because I thought it would be politically helpful, it turned out badly." As an example, he cites his waffle during the 2000 South Carolina primary, when he said flying the Confederate flag at the state capitol was a state issue.

In fact McCain has already done that. He did so by accepting the character assassination that Bush did to him in 2000 and then embracing Bush for his own political gain. Even the cold hearted Dick Cheney got defensive when his daughter was brought up during the 2004 debates, but McCain can watch his family be down right lied about by Bush and finds that is ok. McCain not only sold his soul to the devil but gave his family up in the deal also. I guess this is true "conservative family values".

Greenhouse Gases Up For U.S.

Posted 4/19/06 at 2:48am by jamie

Already this year has been plagued with deadly tornadoes and we could be facing another record setting hurricane season, which is slated to start in the next couple of months. We have ignored the scientists and warning signs of global warming in the name of profits. As matter of fact, we now have proof that our greenhouse emissions are rising under Bush:

The United States emitted more greenhouse gases in 2004 than at any time in history, confirming its status as the world's biggest polluter. Latest figures on the US contribution to global warming show that its carbon emissions have risen sharply despite international concerns over climate change.

The figures, which were quietly released on Easter Monday, reveal that net greenhouse gas emissions during 2004 increased by 1.7 per cent on the previous year, equivalent to a rise of 110 million tons of carbon dioxide.

This is the biggest annual increase since 2000 and means that in 2004 - the latest year that full data is available - the US released the equivalent of nearly 6,300 million tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Scientists in Britain condemned the increase, saying that it showed how the US was failing to take a lead in the international attempt to curb greenhouse gas emissions despite being the worst offender.

It is simple - would you dump all your garbage into your drinking water then drink it? We are using out atmosphere as a sewer for our cars, factories and anything else that pumps out pollutants. Of course people like Bush and those who blindly following him are so damn stupid they can not realize that our planet is vulnerable. People think Osama is bad - well Osama is a saint compared to these idiots that can't see the warning signs.

George Bush - World Executioner

Posted 6/18/05 at 1:57pm by jamie

I reported last week about a former oil industry lobbyist turned White House
staff member who, on a regular basis edited scientific reports regarding the
destabilization of our environment so that it would remove some of the
implications of the petroleum industries major contributions to global warming.
The White House in a normal spin tactic, played down the reports of this
happening and coined it as a common practice for many to read and make notes.
Ironically enough the person changing these reports resigned last week so that
he could “spend more time with his family”. He has now taken a job with Exxon.

The G8 summit is approaching. This is a summit of eight major nations to set
forth common goals and work together in achieving missions ranging from poverty
in Africa to the environment.

The Times of London is now reporting that the White House is still continuing
to turn its back to global warming and what scientific research around the globe
has proven. They are now wanting to use their normal spin on the one thing that
sustains our life and if mistreated will be a bigger threat than any WMD or
terrorist group out there.

As an example of this deadly spin the Bush White House is trying to author,
take one simple sentence out of the G8’s proposed statement:

“We know that the increase [in global warming] is due in large part to human
activity”

The White House does not like that sentence. Instead they want it changed to:

“[There is] increasingly compelling evidence of climate change, including
rising ocean and atmospheric temperatures, retreating ice sheets and glaciers,
rising sea levels and changes to ecosystems”
