Sarah Palin’s Lack Of Intelligence Shines Through Again

Posted 4/18/10 at 11:02am by jamie

Former 1/2 term governor Sarah Palin is again rambling on about things she has no clue on:

Sarah Palin criticized President Barack Obama on Saturday for saying America is a military superpower "whether we like it or not," saying she was taken aback by his comment.

"I would hope that our leaders in Washington, D.C., understand we like to be a dominant superpower," the former Alaska governor said. "I don't understand a world view where we have to question whether we like it or not that America is powerful."

Obama said earlier this week that the United States must do its best to resolve conflicts around the world before they grow too serious.

"It is a vital national security interest of the United States to reduce these conflicts because whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower, and when conflicts break out, one way or another we get pulled into them," Obama said. "And that ends up costing us significantly in terms of both blood and treasure."

President Obama’s statement was very truthful, and shows on the right and left, and let’s ignore the fact that Palin is basically taking President Obama’s statement out of context. A lot has been written this week about this. Instead I would rather look at it as if though Palin was actually addressing what the President said.

For the left, we don’t like that we have to spend billions of dollars stationing our military around the globe. We would love nothing more than to close up our bases in South Korea and Germany, but we are a super power and we must remain in key strategic locations around the world so that we can act on a moments notice.

Quote Of The Day

Posted 8/13/08 at 6:54pm by jamie

Andrew Sullivan:

He's despatching Lindsey and Joe as emissaries to the country immediately. He's on the phone with Sakashvilli daily. He's giving press conferences. He's warning of a new Tsarist empire. You can tell what sends him into high-energy zones: a clear enemy abroad. He knows black and white; and he knows war. It gives him clarity and strength. Up next: Iran and China. Oh, the conflicts we can have ...

If this is the dynamic you want to see in the next president, McCain is your man.

Amen!

Federal Law Blocking Some Health Care

Posted 1/17/08 at 1:49pm by jamie

So much for the sovereignty of the states:

Several states and communities are moving to provide universal health coverage for their residents, but a federal law is blocking their efforts.

Many of the proposals require employers either to offer health coverage themselves or pay into a public fund to help cover the uninsured.

Some employers say that conflicts with a federal law that bars states from requiring or regulating employer-provided benefits such as health coverage. The law, which protects private-sector companies from having to meet a patchwork of state and local demands, is supported by businesses.

Again business is winning and the people are losing. Talk about giving capitalism a bad name.

ANNOUNCING: IntoxiNation Forums

Posted 7/2/06 at 6:04pm by jamie

I finally released the next part of IntoxiNation today. This is a major release and something I hope everyone enjoys. It is the IntoxiNation Forums.

The forums are designed as a gathering place for progressives to get together and discuss current events, politics or anything else that comes to mind. It also provides a place for the readers of IntoxiNation to express themselves further and gives everyone an equal voice.

The forum system is separate from the blog system as far as users are concerned. I had to develop it this way to balance server loads and prevent conflicts as both packages release the highly important security patches. If you have an account on the blog, you will also need to create an account on the forum. It only takes a few seconds and is painless. Once you do that then you are free to update your profile with what ever information you want.

I hope everyone enjoys the new forums and please spread the word so we can grow this into a robust and informative community.

Bush's Lies = Time For Impeachment

Posted 10/20/05 at 3:40pm by jamie

Yesterday's explosive report in the New York Daily News (see article
here) of
George Bush having prior knowledge to of Rove's involvement in the leak has
sparked a firestorm on Capital Hill. Senator Charlie Schumer of New York has
already written the President asking him to come clean to congress and the
American people on his knowledge of the leak (view the complete letter at
The Talking
Points Memo
).

Now we are once again hearing rumors that Karl Rove actually got Plame's
identity from Robert Novak and when he was told of her Rove just said "yeah I
heard that too". Rove is also going on that he heard the information from Tim
Russert which conflicts with testimony Mr. Russert gave at an earlier time.

On July 9, 2003, columnist Robert Novak told Rove he was writing a column
that would report that Plame worked for the CIA, and Rove told the columnist
he had heard similar information, according to his testimony.

Novak published a column the next week that said Plame worked for the CIA
and had suggested that her agency send Wilson, a former ambassador, on a
mission that raised questions about prewar intelligence the Bush
administration used to justify invading Iraq.

Rove testified he told Libby about his contact with Novak about two days
after it occurred.

In testimony shown to Rove, Libby stated Rove had told him about his
contact with Novak and said he had told Rove about information he had gotten
about Wilson's wife from NBC newsman Tim Russert, according to a person
directly familiar with the information shown to Rove.
