NOTW Whistle Blower Found Dead

Posted 7/18/11 at 3:29pm by jamie

This story just keeps taking more new and interesting turns:

In another twist in the News Of The World scandal, a former reporter for the tabloid who initially alleged that editor Andy Coulson knew about the practice of phone hacking by his staff, was reportedly found dead Monday.

The Guardian reports that though police wouldn't confirm the identity of the man found dead, it is believed to be Sean Hoare, formerly of NOTW and The Sun, who worked under Coulson but was fired for alcohol and drug problems in 2005. According to the police report, "the death is currently being treated as unexplained, but not thought to be suspicious. Police investigations into this incident are ongoing."

Bob Cesca adds this to the news that police aren't treating the death as "suspicious":

Whenever there’s a major conspiracy, and someone directly involved mysteriously dies, it’s always suspicious.

Which is a very true statement, but given the growing evidence against some high profile public officials in London, they are probably doing everything they can to keep this story turned down. It's quickly going to get to the point that Parliament has to intervene to get to the bottom of it.

BREAKING: Feds Indict Ex-Blackwater President And Four Others

Posted 4/16/10 at 4:10pm by jamie

Welcome to justice Friday:

The former president of Blackwater Worldwide has been indicted on weapons charges.

An indictment issued Friday charges Gary Jackson along with four others, including former general counsel Andrew Howell and former executive vice president Bill Mathews. The charges against Jackson include a conspiracy to violate firearms laws, false statements and possession of an unregistered firearm.

The charges open a new front of the government's oversight of the sullied security company. Several of the company's contractors have previously been charged with federal crimes for their actions in war zones, but the company's executives have so far weathered a range of investigations.

Jackson left the company in a management shakeup last year. Blackwater changed its name to Xe Services around the same time

Might I suggest trial by military tribunal, complete with holdings at Guantanamo without the possibility of parole?

Birthers Could Be Put On The Ignore List

Posted 3/17/10 at 11:58am by jamie

Now this is funny:

Birthers beware: Hawaii may start ignoring your repeated requests for proof that President Barack Obama was born here.

As the state continues to receive e-mails seeking Obama's birth certificate, the state House Judiciary Committee heard a bill Tuesday permitting government officials to ignore people who won't give up.

"Sometimes we may be dealing with a cohort of people who believe lack of evidence is evidence of a conspiracy," said Lorrin Kim, chief of the Hawaii Department of Health's Office of Planning, Policy and Program Development.

You know, they could have a video of Obama being born and Ronald Reagan delivering him with Pearl Harbor in the background and these morons still won’t buy it. They are so removed from reality that it is really scary. Welcome to Dale Gribble’s America.

The White House And The Evil Collusion With Morning Joe

Posted 12/23/09 at 4:12pm by jamie

Bob touched yesterday on the new meme going through the winutosphere that there is some big collustion going on between the White House and Morning Joe on MSNBC. I would just like to add that I now have evidence of this.

There you have Mika Brzezinski appearing with the President and the first lady. It’s a conspiracy I tell ya!

The Tea Parties Latest Victim Is Feeling The Pain

Posted 12/16/09 at 9:37am by jamie

That would be Charlie Crist:

Governor Charlie Crist and former state House Speaker Marco Rubio are now tied in the 2010 race for the Republican Senate nomination in Florida.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely GOP Primary voters finds Crist and Rubio each with 43% of the vote. Five percent (5%) prefer another candidate, and nine percent (9%) are undecided.

Jonathon Singer reminds us:

A month and a half ago, when the Club for Growth began setting its sights on Charlie Crist, I asked how long it would take Charlie Crist to pull a half or full Specter -- that is, pull out of the GOP primary and run either as an Independent or a Democrat. With numbers showing it decreasingly likely that the somewhat moderate Crist can make it out of a GOP primary, decision time might be nearer than we previously thought.

Singer could be onto something here. Watch as more moderate Republicans do the quick party switch and become Democrats, helping to pull the Democratic Party even further to the right. This will really leave Liberals feeling like they have no home, and that will be a very bad thing. I hate to put on my conspiracy hat, but perhaps this is a little known motive to the tea party movement.

Sarah Palin Responds Regarding Her Birther Comment

Posted 12/4/09 at 8:12am by jamie

Yesterday Sarah Palin joined the ranks of the birther movement and by late night she issued this statement on her Facebook page:

Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I’ve pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States.

That’s a rather interesting statement coming from a person who considered a simple question like “what news sources do you read?” a gotcha question.

Adding… One of the most laughable defenses I hear of Sarah Palin is that she must “grow” as a candidate. She has been in the spotlight for over a year now and we have seen no proof of this happening. If anything we are seeing just the opposite happen. If she needs to grow then she should really start doing it fast because every time she makes a statement like yesterday her maturity as a candidate shrinks even more.

Wingnuts Live On Fear And Depression

Posted 8/25/09 at 10:58am by jamie

The daily Obama conspiracy yesterday was that the President plans to “desecrate 9/11”:

On the Aug. 11 call, Yearwood and other leaders kept saying repeatedly that they wanted 9/11 to be used for something "positive," "forward-leaning," and "productive," said a source with knowledge of the teleconference.

The plan is to turn a "day of fear" that helps Republicans into a day of activism called the National Day of Service that helps the left. In other words, nihilistic liberals are planning to drain 9/11 of all meaning.

So by turning 9/11 into a day of national honor and service, President Obama would trample the memories of those who perished?

The Republicans cling to the fear that struck American on that September morning as though it was oxygen, which is why the wingnuts are up in arms over this. They would be thrilled if on September 11 of every year Americans curled up into little balls, shaking nervously going “bad Muslims, bad Muslims”.

How about this 9/11 we do something else to remember what happened. How about we recall how the Bush administration let the attackers go by shifting their focus to Iraq? This was something championed by the wingnuts. Let’s also recall how some Republicans and right wing news networks are praying for another attack on this country.

These idiots aren’t patriots, they are enablers of terrorism. They only know life through fear, and they thrive for wars which kill our soldiers, destroy countries and weaken our national security. It’s like some goddamn sporting event to them.

Eight More Advertisers Drop Beck

Posted 8/17/09 at 7:49pm by jamie

This is really starting to catch on and take a toll on the Murdoch empire:

Big news today. We've confirmed that eight more major advertisers have pulled their support from Glenn Beck's show -- Wal-Mart, Best Buy, CVS, Travelocity, Allergan (maker of Restasis), Ally Bank, Broadview Security, and Re-Bath.

Overall, twenty advertisers have now ended their support of Beck. We're going to keep the pressure on Beck's remaining advertisers this week, and we'll let you know how you can help.

Of course the wingnuts are up in arms over this, acting as though what’s happening is some kind of major Obama conspiracy. True the right never went after advertisers or anything like that – just ask the Dixie Chicks.

John Conyers Wife Convicted Of Conspiracy To Commit Bribery

Posted 6/26/09 at 10:52am by jamie

We all knew this was coming, but now its official:

Detroit City Council President Pro Tem Monica Conyers pleaded guilty this morning to conspiring to commit bribery and is free on personal bond.

U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn said, "The defendant now stands convicted."

The one count of conspiring to commit bribery is punishable for up to five years in prison.

[SNIP]

Conyers, the wife of powerful Democratic congressman U.S. Rep. John Conyers, appeared before Cohn to answer charges in connection with the wide-ranging probe of wrongdoing at Detroit city hall.

She has long been under suspicion in the Synagro bribery probe, not least because she had been a vocal opponent of the contract before suddenly switching her sentiments. She became the deciding voice in the city council’s 5-4 vote to approve the sludge-hauling deal in November 2007.

A crook is a crook, it doesn’t matter if they are a D or a R. I’m glad justice caught up with her.

Rush’s Plan To Make America Fail?

Posted 6/9/09 at 8:09am by jamie

There has been all this talk from the fat of how he wants “Obama to fail”. Well now that the government has such a large stake in General Motors, the fat one is calling for a boycott of General Motors. Bob points out the irony here:

Just a couple of weeks ago, the wingnuts were crapping their cages over the fact that a suspiciously high number of soon-to-be closed GM dealerships were owned by Republicans. The "conspiracy" that President Obama was taking out some political revenge on McCain supporters made it all the way to Fox News Channel. It turned out that the political party affiliation of dealership owners was merely reflective of the fact that 86 percent of all car dealerships are owned by Republicans.

And now they want to boycott GM, a move that will surely hurt all the dealerships.

To the educated this can only be seen as a flip-flop, as John Cole points out:

These idiots can’t even keep an internally consistent wingnut meme going for a couple weeks. No wonder the rest of the country has no clue what the hell they are talking about.

To me it takes me back to my original point. This is Rush’s plan to try and get our government to fail. And you thought that was talk you would only hear from people like Osama bin Laden, Kim Jong-il or Ahmadinejad.

Conspiracy Watch: Saudi Edition

Posted 4/6/09 at 10:48am by jamie

Last week we saw lots of conspiracies the right has been pushing about Obama’s trip over seas. One that really amazed me was the entire “Obama bowing” before King Abdullah. The right went viral on it (and still are). As matter of fact the idiots over at Hot Air have even put together a video:

Don’t you love that title; “A Tale of Two Bows”.

Well guys, I happened to find a bow you could also add into the mix:

ZZ72682359

George Bush bowed, held hands and kissed this man, yet the Republicans had no problem with that at all. The hypocrisy they show runs so deep, but I just love yanking the tinfoil off their silly little heads.

Still Trust Our Democracy?

Posted 3/20/09 at 1:06pm by jamie

From Lexington, Kentucky:

Five Clay County officials, including the circuit court judge, the county clerk, and election officers were arrested Thursday after they were indicted on federal charges accusing them of using corrupt tactics to obtain political power and personal gain.

The 10-count indictment, unsealed Thursday, accused the defendants of a conspiracy from March 2002 until November 2006 that violated the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). RICO is a federal statute that prosecutors use to combat organized crime. The defendants were also indicted for extortion, mail fraud, obstruction of justice, conspiracy to injure voters' rights and conspiracy to commit voter fraud.

According to the indictment, these alleged criminal actions affected the outcome of federal, local, and state primary and general elections in 2002, 2004, and 2006.

Brad has much more on this.

Abramoff Scandal Hits Wal-Mart

Posted 11/24/08 at 1:36pm by jamie

wal-mart-image Couldn’t happen to a better corporation:

Wal-Mart's former Republican outreach director will be charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, the next to fall in a long list of current and former lobbyists linked to the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal, according to court documents filed last week.

Abramoff, formerly a powerful Republican lobbyist for the Miami-based Greenberg Traurig lawfirm, is now serving a jail sentence for bribing public officials.
James Hirni will be charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, according to papers filed by the Justice Department in U.S. District Court cited by Roll Call Sunday. </p>

Hirni was an executive director for Wal-Mart's Republican outreach effort.

I got a feeling the yellow smiley face isn’t too happy today.

BREAKING: Rep. Congressman Rick Renzi Indicted (UPDATED)

Posted 2/22/08 at 11:14am by jamie

And the RNC crime family looses another one:

Representative Rick Renzi, a Republican from Arizona, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in an alleged scheme to profit from a land deal.

Renzi, 49, announced in August that he wasn't seeking re- election. He was first elected to the House in 2002.

Two others were indicted with Renzi. The charges in the indictment include conspiracy, money laundering, insurance fraud and wire fraud.

I wonder how his friends feel about this?

"So happy together!"

How about John?

UPDATE:

Huffington Post reminds us that Renzi is the co-chair of McCain's Arizona campaign. I wonder what the Senator has to say about that.
