Making America More Stupid, One Wink At A Time

Posted 6/6/11 at 3:20pm by jamie

I'm sure by now everyone has heard how Sarah Palin claimed that Paul Revere's famous ride was to warn the British. Well now she is trying to claim that she was okity-dokity on her claims:

“You realize that you messed up about Paul Revere, don’t you?” “Fox News Sunday” anchor Chris Wallace asked the potential 2012 presidential candidate.

“I didn’t mess up about Paul Revere,” replied Palin, a paid contributor to the network.

“Part of his ride was to warn the British that were already there. That, hey, you’re not going to succeed. You’re not going to take American arms. You are not going to beat our own well-armed persons, individual, private militia that we have,” she added. “He did warn the British.”

As Bob Cesca points out, everyone here was British at that time (well except the Indians, but I'll let you slide on that one Bob).

But lust trumps stupidity, so Palin's cult of followers is taking to her defense. Not only are they trying to rewrite Wikipedia, but they are also writing op-eds. The only problem here is that Andrew Malcom, author of the op-ed in today's LA Times, apparently didn't touch base with Sarah to get the stories straight:

..the British were coming. Less known, obviously, is the rest of the evening's events in which Revere was captured by said redcoats and did indeed defiantly warn them of the awakened militia awaiting their arrival ahead and of the American Revolution's inevitable victory.

Tucker Carlson’s Childish Games

Bloomberg News Hosts Party Year HFd0vW6xhLZlEarlier this week the gossip site Phawker posted an email exchange between Stu Bykofsky of the Philadelphia Daily News and Keith Olbermann. The exchange started with this email from Keith Olbermann:

“Dear Stu,

Since you’re obviously a moron, I won’t waste your time or mine writing more emails you clearly can’t understand. But I do want to correct one of the numerous errors of fact in your email: Phil Griffin did not suspend me. He doesn’t have the power or frankly the courage to do so. Once I had been (very) temporarily relieved of my duties by NBC management, Phil got on the phone to some of your fellow idiot TV columnists and tried to claim credit.

As if.

I could have Phil Griffin fired tomorrow if I felt like it, trust me. And if he keeps yapping about me in public, I may. For the moment, however, keeping Phil around is like having a drunk chimp in the office — more amusing than threatening.

Feel free to correct the record in your ‘column.’

KO”

Putting Palin In Perspective

Posted 1/11/10 at 5:38pm by jamie

To all the Republicans out there who think Sarah is great for your party, please take a moment and consider this:

  • Palin resigned as Governor last July. A few months later she starts a nationwide book tour.
  • She refuses to speak at CPAC and instead speaks at a tea party convention. She would have made $0 at CPAC, but will get $100,000 at the tea party convention.
  • She then signs a multi-year contract with FOX news to be a contributor.

If you believe Palin is worried about Alaska, you or this country then you are sadly mistaken. Her actions in the past 1/2 year shows that Sarah worries about Sarah and no one else. If you still buy into this crap then you would most likely believe it if a hooker tells you that she loves you.

The Winner Of The Pool Is…

Who ever picked 1/11/10:

Former Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska has signed on as a contributor to the Fox News Channel.

The network confirmed that Ms. Palin will appear on the network’s programming on a regular basis as part of a multi-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Ms. Palin will not have her own regular program, one person familiar with the deal said, though she will host an occasional series that will run on the network from time to time. This person would not elaborate, but the network does have a precedent for such a series. Oliver L. North is the host of an occasionally running documentary series on the military called “War Stories.”

Now We Can Call It Climategate

Posted 12/6/09 at 2:12pm by jamie

Forget the emails that basically prove nothing, except to give the science and common sense deniers something to go crazy over. That wasn’t enough to give the current climate change controversy the famous “gate” suffix. But now we have something new happening; something that takes us back to the origins of the “gate” suffix:

Attempts have been made to break into the offices of one of Canada's leading climate scientists, it was revealed yesterday. The victim was Andrew Weaver, a University of Victoria scientist and a key contributor to the work of the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). In one incident, an old computer was stolen and papers were disturbed.

In addition, individuals have attempted to impersonate technicians in a bid to access data from his office, said Weaver. The attempted breaches, on top of the hacking of files from British climate researcher Phil Jones, have heightened fears that climate-change deniers are mounting a campaign to discredit the work of leading meteorologists before the start of the Copenhagen climate summit tomorrow.

In the memory of Watergate we now can officially call this climategate. This whole thing started with someone breaking the law, so now more people have decided that being criminals is the way to go. Hopefully they all get caught and spend a little time in the climate of prison.

CNN Has A Conflict Of Interest Problem

Posted 10/15/09 at 10:02am by jamie

Greg Sargent has confronted CNN about one of their Republican contributors, Alex Castellanos, and their failure to mention his ties to the health care industry:

CNN has acknowledged in a statement to me that a high-profile Republican commentator who frequently discusses health care on the air is also the media buyer for one of the ad campaigns bankrolled by America’s Health Insurance Plans, the major industry trade group currently waging war against the White House and Dem reform proposals.

CNN tells me his ties to the industry will be disclosed in the future.

The CNN contributor, well-known GOP consultant Alex Castellanos, is best known for producing the racially-charged “Hands” ad, has repeatedly appeared on the network attacking Dem health care plans and the public option, which is strongly opposed by AHIP.

This has become a common problem for CNN. Last year it was with James Carville and Paul Begala appearing on the network as a "Democratic strategist” and CNN never disclosing the fact that Carville and Begala were working for the Clinton campaign, until the blogosphere put enough pressure on them to take action. With these actions it’s really hard for CNN to claim that they are the “most trusted name in news”.

Guilt By Association

Jesse_Jackson_Jr,_official_109th_Congressional_photo A lot of people have been trying to paint Jesse Jackson Jr. as being corrupt since it was revealed he was referred to in the Blago indictment. Well it turns out Jackson had actually gone to the feds about Blago’s serious lack of ethics:

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., who was cited in a criminal complaint against Rod Blagojevich, went to the U.S. Attorney's office about alleged wrongdoers, including the Illinois governor, a Jackson spokesman said Tuesday.

Jackson rejected being labeled with the term "informant" in a message to CNN contributor Roland Martin.

Spokesman Kenneth Edmonds described Jackson's interaction with federal authorities this way: "As a responsible citizen and elected official, Congressman Jackson has in the past provided information to federal authorities regarding his personal knowledge of perceived corruption and governmental misconduct.

"This was completely unrelated to the current investigation regarding the U.S. Senate appointment. And it is absolutely inaccurate to describe the congressman as an informant," Edmonds said in a written statement.

It’s amazing what we start finding out once the facts start coming out.

E.D. Hill Out At Fox

Posted 11/18/08 at 10:32am by jamie

Little miss “terrorist fist jab” has now found herself without a job:

TVNewser has learned veteran Fox News Channel anchor E.D. Hill will not be renewed when her current contract expires. Hill, who has been with Fox News for more than 10 years, will continue with the network for the next few months until her current deal expires.</p>SVP of Programming Bill Shine tells TVNewser that he "chose not to renew E.D.'s latest contract" but noted that "Hill has been a valued contributor to the success of FNC over the years, and we wish her all the best."

I doubt any other cable news network will pick her up. She ended up destroying herself with the “terrorist fist jab” comment earlier this year. Out to make controversy, she just made herself the fool. So long loser!

Joe The Plumber?

Posted 10/16/08 at 12:56pm by jamie

Joe Wurzelbacher, aka Joe the Plumber, has some interesting ties that are really close to McCain:

Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.

So Joe the Plumber is tied to the figure at the center of the Keating Five scandal. Maybe this should bring the entire Keating scandal to center stage now.

McCain Blames Economy Problems On Over Spending

Posted 1/18/08 at 11:55am by jamie

Interesting argument and mostly true, but wasn't it McCain's party that was responsible for most of that spending?

John McCain blamed overspending by the federal government in part for the nation's economic troubles as South Carolina voters Friday received the sobering news that the state unemployment rate had hit 6.6 percent, the largest one-month increase in nearly 20 years.

"As a Republican, I stand before you embarrassed. Embarrassed that we let that spending get out of control," the presidential candidate told voters on the eve of the state's GOP primary.

"The economy is not good. The stock market continues down. And the indicators are not good. I'm not too astonished. ... We let spending get totally out of control, and it continues today, and I'm sorry to tell you this," McCain said at a town-hall style meeting at the Carolina Hospital East Campus in Florence.

The 1/2 Hour News Hour - BEYOND LAME!

Posted 2/19/07 at 11:56am by jamie

If you didn't watch it last night, here is the opening skit of FOX's soon to be canceled (it sucks!) "Half Hour News Hour".

So for their pilot's opening skit they pick Limbaugh and Coulter. Let's see - that is druggie Rush and Coulter, who could be a felon in Florida once charges are pressed for her voting fraud. Yup that is family values for you. You know it's bad when they can't even get a conservative comedian like Dennis Miller, a FOX contributor and former host of Weekend Update on SNL, to do the show.

Look At FOX's New Hire

Posted 8/8/06 at 9:59pm by jamie

Oh this is just great:

Dennis Miller is hardly shy about expressing his conservative political views.

The 52-year-old comedian, who has voiced his support for President Bush and the U.S. invasion of Iraq, will talk politics as a contributor on Fox News' "Hannity & Colmes," network spokeswoman Dana Klinghoffer told The Associated Press on Tuesday. Miller starts Sept. 13.

He will also provide commentary on the Fox News Web site, Klinghoffer said.

In 2003, Miller was a regular guest on "Hannity & Colmes," hosted by Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes. He also had his own short-lived CNBC political talk show, "Dennis Miller."

That is a sure way to kill the Hannity and Colmes ratings. After all - look what he did for Monday night football.

Record Numbers For Baghdad Morgue

Posted 6/5/06 at 12:02am by jamie

Earlier while watching CNN I was shocked when I heard the same old line being used. Tori Clark, the former Pentagon spokeswoman turned CNN contributor was complaining about the reports of Haditha and how they are overshadowing the good that is being done in Iraq. She is still spewing out the same old rhetoric that Bush and company have used before (remember when it was the media exaggerating everything?).

Perhaps this report from Today's L.A. Times should be read by Tori so she can see that Iraq is getting worse:

New Iraqi government documents show that, excluding the nearly daily bombings, more Baghdad residents died in shootings, stabbings and other violence in May than in any other month since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.

The numbers, and accounts from residents, depict neighborhoods descending further into violence and fear.

Last month, 1,398 bodies were brought to the central morgue, according to Ministry of Health statistics, 307 more than in April. The count doesn't include soldiers or civilian victims of explosions, on whom autopsies are not usually conducted.

Since 2003, at least 30,240 bodies have been brought to the morgue, the vast majority of them victims of gunmen who are not caught. Bodies often lie in the streets for hours.

I have also noticed a new paraphrasing going on for Iraq now - secular war. They are playing semantics with the situation in Iraq and rather you call it secular or civil, that does not change the fact that Iraq is descending further into being Hell on Earth.
