Out Of 10800 Seconds, Morning Joe Spends 10 Seconds On Washington Cop Killings

Absolutely fucking amazing. Scarborough dishonored the memory of the slain officers just to protect his BFF Huckabee. MSNBC should hang their head very low in shame today and Morning Joe should be cancelled.

UPDATE:
Within 8 minutes of his show starting, Dylan Ratigan started covering the shootings. NBC even has a reporter on the scene, yet Scarborough couldn’t be bothered to go to him. Ratigan even has Eliot Spitzer on to talk about Governors and clemency. Drop Scarborough and give Ratigan the morning show – that would be a big help for MSNBC.

Questions About Gates Arrest

Posted 7/23/09 at 9:53am by jamie

I have been told by quiet a few attorneys in the past that if the police pull you over and tell you to get out of the car then you should ask them if you are under arrest. If not then you don’t have to. The same thing happened to Henry Gates. He was told to leave his house and didn’t. This was before he was under arrest. I think that could be an interesting argument in court for illegal search and seizure.

Another part I find very interesting is that Gates asked the cop for identification. True this was after the cop asked Gates for the same and Gates was probably just being a hard ass in return, but there are tons of safety courses out there that tell you to ask cops for identification and they must provide it. Perhaps that’s another question to be asked of the arresting officer.

President Obama getting into this debate last night was an excellent move. Back during the primaries I wanted to see the candidates asked about a rash of police violence during the debates. On an almost daily basis we see stories of police deploying tasers on suspects who don’t need them. We also see things like gay couples being arrested for – well being gay.

I would love to see Congress take up this issue and impose strict laws upon law enforcement. If a cop violates the law they shouldn’t be given a reduce sentence because of their “past record of upholding the law”. Instead they should be given the maximum penalty. They not only violated the law, but also violated their oath of office and the public trust.

Its time for our nation to tell the police that we appreciate what you do to keep us safe, but we will not tolerate anymore ego trips. You are not above anyone else because of the uniform. On the contrary – you should be a better example for all to follow.

Of course it only matters when you go after a Democrat:

Republican sources have been circulating a 2002 news story (from the Tribune) that reported Ashley Biden was arrested for obstructing a police officer in Chicago in August 2002 after getting into a verbal spat with a cop in a late-night nightlife district. The charges were dropped after she apologized to the officer involved. Ashley Biden, then 21, was a Tulane University student at the time. She now works as a social worker in Delaware.

This is absolutely nothing compared to what the National Enquirer has coming up.

"Back It Up Bitch"

That's what this cop yells at a Code Pink protester after slamming her to the ground with his PR-24.

I am sure this cop feels like a big man after beating a woman to the ground. I agree with what the Nation says on this:

This cop should be fired and charged with assault

Yes he should. There is video evidence this asshole doesn't have the temperament to be a cop.

Full Spin Ahead on the Right

Oh the Right-wing sites had a feeding frenzy yesterday with the news that Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) assaulted a capital police officer.

First off here is what Drudge had to say about it:

Congresswoman McKinney Punches Police Officer... MORE... Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) punched a U.S. Capitol Police officer today after he mistakenly pursued her for failing to pass through a metal detector, HOTLINE reports... The entire incident is on tape. The cop is pressing charges and the USCP are waiting until Congress adjourns to arrest her, a source claims... Developing...

You got to give it to old Matt - his stories are always developing and usually end up doing so. The problem is they develop into something other than that of what he said. Now he was somewhat close on this. The Congresswoman did punch the officer and the officer did mistakenly pursue her after failing to pass through a metal detector.

The U.S. Iron Curtain

For more proof that the iron curtain never fell and now surrounds America,
you have to look no further than Deborah Davis. She is a 50 year old mother of a
son serving in Iraq. She lives in Denver and leads an ordinary middle class life
or at least she did.

On December 9th, she is getting arraigned in federal court. Her crime was
standing up for her rights as a citizen. She refused to show her ID to a cop on
a public bus and it resulted in her arrest and being told if she ever steps foot
on federal property again she will be arrested.

This outrageous abuse of power by our law enforcement agencies have sparked a
controversy and a new website -
papersplease.org
. I encourage you to read through the site as it reminds you
of something you would of heard happening in Russia during the 70's and 80's,
not in America.

This also gives me the feeling of another victory for al Qaeda. If they hate
us for our freedoms then we will just take away those freedoms so they can not
hate us anymore.
