The Coward John Boehner

Posted 10/3/10 at 8:32am by jamie

s-john-boehner-crying-large You would think someone who has been in Congress for 20 years wouldn’t have any fears of debating a newcomer to the political scene, but not John Boehner:

And without saying no specifically, Boehner will not accept the challenge to a debate issued several weeks ago by Coussoule.

“I’m involved in the national debate each and every day and there isn’t a constituent in my district if they’re interested that doesn’t know where I stand on all the issues,” Boehner said.

A debate is the best way for the voters to get an understanding of where all the candidates stand on the issues. The fact that John Boehner refuses to do so is proof that he cares nothing about his constituents.

Republicans Still Trying To Slow Down Health Care Reform

Posted 10/19/09 at 9:34am by jamie

Is this any real shock?

With Democratic leaders and White House officials holed up in Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) office negotiating a final bill, Republicans are demanding a deceleration of the process and moving to define whatever plan that emerges as a combination of Medicare cuts, tax increases, higher insurance premiums and rising overall costs.

Notice how they throw out Medicare cuts again? The party that rammed through a prescription drug bill for Medicare that ended up preventing seniors from getting their life saving medications is bitching about this. The Republicans that introduced the doughnut hole that makes Seniors, even those on low/fixed income, to pay full price for their needed meds are still acting like the saviors of Medicare.

Then we have this part:

Senate Democrats are rejecting Republicans’ demands to slow things down, charging that the GOP isn’t interested in working with the majority to craft a bipartisan health care bill. Rather, Reid said repeatedly last week, the Republicans’ primary goal is to sink reform in order to undercut President Barack Obama.

(emphasis added)

I’m glad that the Democrats finally realized that the Republicans absolutely do not want bipartisanship or even health care reform. Hell it took the minority leader basically saying that exact thing for them to realize this. Why didn’t they listen months ago when every one else was saying that the Republicans had absolutely no plans of working with Democrats let alone reform health care? We would have a much better bill that would probably be law already.

Boehner Hasn’t Met Anyone That Supports The Public Option

Posted 10/1/09 at 11:23pm by jamie

This is making a lot of news right now, so I got to ask this – are you shocked? Boehner didn’t hold a single townhall during August. Instead he chose to speak to a gathering of tea baggers. Yeah there is a lot of support there.

How about Boehner’s constituents contacting his office? Well I am one of his constituents and contacted his office numerous times in the past. What do I end up with? Talking points and asking to give to his reelection. This guy does absolutely nothing for the people of his district – NOTHING.

So no, it’s no shock what so ever that Boehner hasn’t met anyone. He is a coward that hides from opposition, even if it’s  the very people he is supposed to represent.

Never Been Really Questioned

Posted 8/31/09 at 9:28am by jamie

I was reading the excellent post by Sully in which he describes Chris Wallace’s interview of Dick Cheney as “a teenage girl interviewing the Jonas Brothers”. While reading it I started thinking about all the Cheney interviews in the past, and believe me there wasn’t many out there.

When the going got tough, Cheney always took to the airwaves. He would jump into the lion’s den cuddly kitten factory known as Rush Limbaugh and FOX News. The man has never faced an actual interview. He hasn’t been pushed on any of his views or actions, essentially castrating the entire fourth estate.

Is it any wonder that Eric Holder is investigating torture? If Cheney would have actually defended the process instead of saying “we say its ok, so its ok”, then we might be in a different position today. Instead he exhibits the signs of a Megalomanic. Power given to such a man is a danger to any democracy, and we saw what it did to ours.

If Cheney really believes what he did was right then he wouldn’t fear facing actual interviewers. He would proudly take his defense to other interviewers like Jon Stewart or Rachael Maddow. But he can’t have his beliefs or power questioned, so instead he can only appear with friends. Dick Cheney is the biggest coward to ever serve this country, and people need to start calling him on it.

What Would You Call A Man Who Has To Hide Behind A Woman?

Posted 10/9/08 at 7:56pm by jamie

Better yet - what would you call a man who has to hide behind two women? If you're a Republican then I guess you call them a "maverick".

Why is it that John McCain is such a coward that he can't ask Obama about Ayers? Instead he has to have his wife and running mate go out and make the attacks. This is really a look into McCain's character and I love the fact that Obama and Biden are now calling McCain out on it. "Say it to his face" was Biden's challenge to McCain today. Will McCain have the nerve to do that or will he continue to hide behind his women?

McCain's New One Minute And Forty Seconds Of Reasons Not To Vote For Him

Posted 10/9/08 at 1:28pm by jamie

That's how long their new Ayers ad is and now we have video:

BarbinMD calls McCain out on this as being a "coward":

McCain didn't have the guts to mention Ayers name while face-to-face with Obama, instead waiting until he was safely back in his cocoon of race-baiting rallies and Fox News interviews before going with his latest lie and smear campaign. Pitiful.

I believe this would be a perfect question in the final debate. "Senator McCain - You have spent the last several weeks trying to connect Senator Obama and 60's radical Bill Ayers. Why didn't you bring this up during previous debates?" Let's see if McCain has the cahonies to say anything with Obama right there.

Gambler? Please...

Posted 9/3/08 at 7:24pm by jamie

It is really getting old hearing the media talk about McCain taking this "gamble" on Palin, like it makes him some sort of maverick. Remember this news from way back - like yesterday?

Up until midweek last week, some 48 to 72 hours before Mr. McCain introduced Ms. Palin at a Friday rally in Dayton, Ohio, Mr. McCain was still holding out the hope that he could choose a good friend, Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, independent of Connecticut, a Republican close to the campaign said. Mr. McCain had also been interested in another favorite, former Gov. Tom Ridge of Pennsylvania.

But both men favor abortion rights, anathema to the Christian conservatives who make up a crucial base of the Republican Party. As word leaked out that Mr. McCain was seriously considering the men, the campaign was bombarded by outrage from influential conservatives who predicted an explosive floor fight at the convention and vowed rejection of Mr. Ridge or Mr. Lieberman by the delegates.

McCain didn't take a gamble, he folded to the right wing fringe elements of his party. That's not a maverick - that's a coward!

O'Reilly Scared Of Homeless Vets?

Posted 2/1/08 at 3:50pm by jamie

No shock - we always knew he was a coward:

While O'Reilly wouldn't face the vets on the streets, their plight also escaped smarmy O'Reilly producer Jesse Waters, who wore Gucci loafers and a goofy smirk as he asked the vets if they had heard the comments firsthand, and then chided them about not traveling to Dallas to confront Mark Cuban about the depiction of G.I.s in his film "Redacted."

"We're here to talk about Bill and his comments," one vet said, holding his ground.

Waters' cohort, who refused to give his name, said, "I'm completely unfazed by this," as he stared into his BlackBerry.

While the group wasn't allowed to meet or see O'Reilly, Waters eventually did accept the binder of 17,000 petitions on the pundit's behalf.

That's how FOX supports our troops, by ignoring the ones who served and are in troubled times. Osama thanks you Fox!

Bush Appreciates The U.K.'s "Strong Response" To Failed Attacks

Posted 7/2/07 at 7:52am by jamie

That is what he told reporters yesterday. I guess the response would be "strong" when you consider Bush's response on 9/11/01 after hearing the phrase "the country is under attack"

So how much should we be applauding the U.K. government on this? First off - the Brown government had only been in power for 18 hours. Not really enough time to make sweeping changes.

More important is the fact that these attacks failed because of incompetence of the attackers. Police work, military strikes, eavesdropping, none of that "prevented" the attacks. These terrorists were still able to go through with their plans - just not with the expected outcome.

I was thinking of that yesterday when Joe Lieberman was on This Week echoing the White House talking points on terrorism. He was using what happened in the U.K. as justification for allowing Bush to ignore the law and tap anyone's phone without oversight. Of course Lieberman isn't just a Republican - he is a coward. Perhaps he should go live in Israel and see how people can truly live their lives free, while still facing the threat of terrorism.

Silencing The Troops

Posted 5/2/07 at 10:48am by jamie

So this is how our military rewards the brave troops fighting in a war of lies - by silencing them?

The U.S. Army has ordered soldiers to stop posting to blogs or sending personal e-mail messages, without first clearing the content with a superior officer, Wired News has learned. The directive, issued April 19, is the sharpest restriction on troops' online activities since the start of the Iraq war. And it could mean the end of military blogs, observers say.

Military officials have been wrestling for years with how to handle troops who publish blogs. Officers have weighed the need for wartime discretion against the opportunities for the public to personally connect with some of the most effective advocates for the operations in Afghanistan and Iraq -- the troops themselves. The secret-keepers have generally won the argument, and the once-permissive atmosphere has slowly grown more tightly regulated. Soldier-bloggers have dropped offline as a result.

This isn't limited to just the military either, as the article goes on to say:

Active-duty troops aren't the only ones affected by the new guidelines. Civilians working for the military, Army contractors -- even soldiers' families -- are all subject to the directive as well.

So the wife of Joe soldier can't even blog about how much she misses her husband? How about children of soldiers having MySpace accounts? This is a disgrace to our brave men and women, along with their families. This is the communistic type of leadership George Bush wants. And yes - it is George Bush as he is the Commander in Chief. Perhaps Congress needs to weigh in on this issue also.

Now little Suzie - go get daddies commander to approve what you are writing on your blog about the cute new boy at school!

UPDATE!

Hey Joe

Posted 8/14/06 at 12:34am by jamie

The heat is getting turned up:

U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman (news, bio, voting record) should bow out of the November's congressional race altogether after his defeat in Connecticut's Democratic primary, a top Democrat said on Sunday.

Lieberman, a three-term senator and Democratic vice presidential nominee in 2000, lost to political newcomer Ned Lamont in Connecticut on Tuesday and said he plans to run as an independent in the November election.

Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said Lieberman should support his party -- and Lamont -- rather than running against him to defeat the Republicans.

"I know how hard this is for Joe, and he is a good person, but the truth is I lost one of these races and I got behind my party's nominee and I think that is what you have to do if you want to help this country," Dean, former governor of Vermont, said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Yes Joe - you should go. What kind of message are you sending the young people out there who we want to recruit into politics? "Beat an incumbent in a primary and face them as an independent in the general election". That is not a good message and makes it look more like people should not try to enter politics. The longer you stay in this race, the worse you make it on America and democracy as a whole. Since the RNC is looking like they are going to back you then why not just change parties? Oh I forgot - your a coward.

Bush's Twisted Speech Exposed

Posted 12/1/05 at 6:15pm by jamie

Bush made a big lie yesterday about progress in Iraq. This should come as no
shock but still merits attention.
Think
Progress
has the details on it.

The progress of the Iraqi forces is especially clear when the recent
anti-terrorist operations in Tal Afar are compared with last year’s assault
in Fallujah. In Fallujah, the assault was led by nine coalition battalions
made up primarily of United States Marines and Army — with six Iraqi
battalions supporting them…This year in Tal Afar, it was a very different
story. The assault was primarily led by Iraqi security forces — 11 Iraqi
battalions, backed by five coalition battalions providing support.

An embedded Time Magazine reporter who covered this assault from beginning to
end said that it was an American led attack. Visit
Think
Progress
for the details and video of Anderson Cooper brining this up to
Senator John Warner then
Crooks and Liars
who has a video of Cooper discussing this with Rep. Jack Murtha..

Murtha told Cooper he believes people are giving the President the wrong
facts. Something about this stinks of Rove. It is similar to his favorite tactic
of "push polling". Distort the facts to sell the cause. In other words it is the
most vile form of politicizing the war.

More On Jean 'Full Of' Schmidt

Posted 11/23/05 at 4:44pm by jamie

What do you get when you have a congresswoman who has been in office three
months crossing a thirty year veteran of Congress? A congresswoman working hard
to do damage control.

Ohio Republican Jean Schmidt said Tuesday she should have rephrased her
sharp critique of a fellow congressman's call to immediately pull troops
from Iraq.

Schmidt was booed off the floor of the U.S. House on Friday after she
criticized Rep. John Murtha (news, bio, voting record), D-Pa., saying that
"cowards cut and run, Marines never do."

When Schmidt made the comment, Democrats rose in protest at the
suggestion that Murtha, a decorated Vietnam veteran and the ranking Democrat
on the House Appropriations defense subcommittee, was a coward.

Schmidt said the comment was prompted by a conversation she had with
state Rep. Danny Bubp, though he denies discussing Murtha with Schmidt.

Schmidt, who sent Murtha a note of apology on Friday moments after her
speech, said in a statement Tuesday that she never intended to attack Murtha
personally.

"While I strongly disagree with his policy, neither Representative Bubp
nor I ever wished to attack Congressman Murtha," she said. "I only take
exception to his policy position."

.

Schmidt has been taking to the local airwaves like crazy. Her first
appearance was on 700 WLW's talk show hosted by Willy Cunningham, a staunch
conservative. Last night it was followed by her appearing on different local
news broadcasts trying to repair the damage done by her comments last week.

Republicans Try To Divide Democrats And Fail

Posted 11/19/05 at 3:11pm by jamie

The Republican's plan to divide the Democrats over the issue of pulling
troops out of Iraq backfired last night. With a final vote of 403-3 defeating
Duncan Hunter's resolution of immediate withdrawal. The debate over the issue
was some of the most heated I have seen in years.

The Republican's tried to maintain that the Hunter resolution was not in
retaliation to the Murtha plan submitted the day before but they were unable to
prove their point. Rep. Buyer's of Indiana used his time debating the issue to
attack Rep. Murtha's plan which made the Democrats call for a point of
parliamentary procedure. The argued that the Hunter Resolution was being argued,
not the Murtha Resolution. It ended up with Rep. Buyer's words having to be
stricken from the record.

Dennis Kucinich hit the nail on the head with his remarks. He said the
evidence of this resolution being a direct attack against the Murtha resolution
was evident in the fact that Duncan Hunter, the author, was encouraging a nay
vote. He said he can not remember when a congressman introduced a resolution and
asked for its defeat.

Early in the day the floor erupted as Rep. Jean Schmidt was addressing the
House and read a letter in which Murtha was called a coward. This lead to the
Democrats objecting very loudly over the freshman congresswoman's comments and
her ultimately having to apologize.
Think Progress
has the video on that. Actually it came as no shock to me she would stoop so
low. Living in southern Ohio, I lived through the heated Schmidt/Hackett race
where Schmidt would say Paul Hackett did not know what was right for Iraq even
though he had just returned from serving over there.
