Wingnut Kind Of Denounces Cut Gas Lines, But Says To Go Ahead And Punch Members Of Congress

Posted 3/24/10 at 5:55pm by jamie

Wingnut Confederate Yankee:

Go to your Congressman's office and scream at him in the most colorful language possible. Hang him in effigy at protests. If you're willing to do the time for the crime, have a swing at him.

(emphasis added)

And the commenters are even nastier:

I hove no problem targeting these scum or their families. They are targeting mine with this piece of shit law they passed. I believe it was a french philospher, sorry cant spell his name, that said the best form of government is democracy liberally sprinkled with assassination. It appears it is time to start the latter part. Let these ass-hats know that we are displease and will not wait to show our displeasure.

I am doing my civic duty and alerting the authorities, as well as the hosting provider of this. It’s time for us to be vigilant and let our law enforcement put an end to this needless call for violence.

Growing A Better Blogosphere

Posted 4/9/09 at 12:55pm by jamie

There is a lot of discussion about the blogosphere and a lack of advertising right now. Most of it has been sparked from a post by Greg Sargent, in which some of the top liberal bloggers voice their displeasure with progressive organizations not spending advertising money on blogs.

I know first hand that running these blogs carry a huge financial burden. Of the four bloggers Greg talks so, Crooks and Liars and Daily Kos carry the highest monthly costs just in terms of equipment. I don’t know Kos’ expenses first hand, but can only guesstimate from what I know of his server infrastructure. I do know Crooks and Liars system first hand, since I am the site’s developer. I am not going to give out the exact expense, but I can tell you that our monthly internet bill alone is more than many make in a month. Pushing out videos is an expensive business.

But now we are at a point of stagnation in the blogosphere. Traffic spiked during the election last year, then it fell off drastically. It has been slowly creeping back up, but not like we would like to see. Perhaps its time to look for new ways to promote our product and offer our readers a sense of involvement.

When Bush Speaks Wall Street Listens!

Posted 1/18/08 at 3:39pm by jamie

And not in a good way

Wall Street resumed its downward trek Friday as skittish investors, unable to hold on to much optimism about the economy, drew little comfort from President Bush's stimulus plan.

Investors had already pulled back from a big early gain, with the major indexes trading mixed as Bush began to speak. By the time the president finished announcing a plan for about $145 billion worth of tax relief, the indexes were well into negative territory.

"It's disappointed in the size of the economic growth package. Wall Street's showing its displeasure," said Kim Caughey, equity research analyst at Fort Pitt Capital Group in Pittsburgh. "Honestly, I think the institutional investors understand the limits to the government's ability to enact economic change."

The Dow Jones industrial average, up more than 180 points in morning trading, was down 85.11, or 0.70 percent, at 12,074.10. The Dow plunged 306 points Thursday amid deepening pessimism about the economy.

The Dark Cloud Grows

Posted 3/14/07 at 9:29am by jamie

A new CBS poll shows that 76% believe the administration hasn't done enough to care for our wounded soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan (h/t Steve). Of course the new person the Pentagon chose to run Walter Reed, Maj. Gen. Gale Pollock, believes that the reports of neglect are a lie:

Pollock, in an e-mail sent to colleagues and staff in the Army Medical Command on Friday, had also sought to minimize reports about conditions at Walter Reed and attacked the media's handling of the issue.

"I know everyone is extremely pained and angry about the media assaults on Walter Reed and our senior leaders," Pollock wrote in an e-mail obtained by The Washington Post. She added that she "articulated our displeasure at the misinformation about the quality of care" to a Post reporter after a congressional hearing last week but also acknowledged that she believes the stories could create momentum for changes that would better serve the Army.

(emphasis mine)

So the answer to the problem is to replace the person that allowed the situation to happen with a delusional apologist? Sounds like Pollock might be the next one on the chopping block. The Pentagon better realize quick that the American people are not going to expect anything less than 100% when it comes to treating our wounded.

Bob Ney - Internet Tough Guy

Posted 6/9/06 at 4:37pm by jamie

Looks like the Abramoff stuff is really starting to piss off Bob Ney:

Rep. Bob Ney, under enormous political and legal pressure for more than a year, has lashed out against press coverage of his plight, voicing great displeasure over stories focusing on the controversial golfing trip to Scotland that threatens his grip on the congressional seat he has held for six terms.

In two rambling e-mails sent from his Blackberry device to Copley News Service reporter Paul Krawzak, the Republican congressman from Ohio ridiculed the veteran reporter, challenging his ethics and mocking the 5-foot-7-inch Krawzak as “big man.”

The trigger for Ney’s rage was Krawzak’s coverage, carried in The Times-Reporter and its sister Copley Ohio newspapers, The Repository and The Independent, of the trial of White House procurement official David H. Safavian. Safavian is accused of lying and obstructing the criminal investigation of the once-powerful and now-discredited Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Now here is where we really get into some good bar brawling words by the man who was dubbed "the mayor of Capital Hill":

“Let me tell you paul-last week you did not call us for comment ‘you were under deadline,’” began Ney, who then reflected his belief that his critics just keep recycling the same story about the golf trip. “Print the same story-change it to reprint the same story-people in new philly – d’s and r’s call it ‘elk’s politics.’”

He concluded his message with “Go for it – harass my wife and daughter a little bit more big man – maybe I will take out an add talking about your ethics.” The reference to his wife and daughter reflected his continuing anger that earlier this year another Copley News Service reporter, based in Ohio, interviewed his neighbors and knocked on his door seeking comment from his wife.

Bush And His Cowboy Talk

Posted 3/11/06 at 3:25pm by jamie

Bush is out in full force doing his cowboy talk against other countries:

"If the Iranians are trying to influence the outcome of the political process, or the outcome of the security situation there, we're letting them know our displeasure," Bush said. "Our call is for those in the neighborhood to allow Iraq to develop a democracy, and that includes our call to Iran as well as to Syria."

So in the last week we have had harsh words with Syrian, Iran, China and North Korea. If Bush is looking to start world war 3, he is on the right course. Scary part is we are not able to handle world war 3 and doing this talk in our weakened state is putting more Americans at risk.

If we ignore all of Bush's problems here at home. Forget about Katrina, wiretapping, the CIA leak, the Dubai ports deal, cooked intelligence, everything and just focused on his foreign policy and diplomacy then we should still have enough to impeach him. He is constantly putting America in harms way by his "tough talk" and lack of diplomacy.

Something Bush should consider is the fact that maybe Iraq is wanting the help of Iran and Syria. Polls over there show an overwhelming number of Iraqi's and their parliament want us out now. Also a majority of Iraqi's support attacks on our troops. This is alarming news and should be looked at carefully. That can lead one to believe more so that Iraq is looking to an ally in their neighbors to the west and east.

It is also scary when you think about the state of our military. Our troop levels are way down and what we do have is tied up in Iraq. Going to war with Iran is most likely enough to cause the United States to reinstate the draft.

Letter to the Washington Post

Posted 6/18/05 at 3:26pm by jamie

For those of you who did not have the displeasure of reading the coverage the
Washington Post gave to the DSM hearing on Thursday, here is the

link
. This was a total trash piece and sadly was the only coverage the
Washington Post gave to this important hearing. Below is a copy of the letter I
have sent to the Washington Post, and I encourage all of you to do the same. At
the end of this post is the email addresses to Dana Milbank, who wrote the
article and also Michael Abramowitz who is the national editor. The fact that
this article was not only in bad taste but also filled with lies is a disgrace
to the people of this country, the members who attended this hearing, the
witnesses and most importantly the families of the fallen soldiers who took the
time to attend. Please voice your opinion of how you feel regarding this letter.

Dear Sirs;

I was highly upset when I read the coverage that a once great newspaper
gave to the hearing on the Downing Street Memo. Dana Milbank’s portrayal of
the actual meeting would leave one to wonder if he was even present for it, or
did he get his reporting from Bill O’Reilly.
