Palin Gets Booed

Posted 8/31/08 at 9:12am by jamie

This is the absolute proof that McCain picked Sarah Palin for only one reason - to get Hillary supporters.

This might not be the best way to reach out to those disillusioned Hillary Clinton supporters.

In just her second appearance on the campaign trail with John McCain, newly-minted GOP running mate Sarah Palin was showered with boos on Saturday for attempting to praise Clinton’s trail-blazing bid to become the first female president.

I guess Sarah Palin prescribes to the same sexist mentality as John McCain - women will vote not on the issues, but on the sex of the candidate. I sure hope they keep this up. It will be very easy to expose the sexist nature of their campaign and the best one to do that is Hillary.

Why Is Barack's Run Considered Historic...

Posted 1/10/08 at 11:42am by jamie

And not Hillary's? All the pundits keep talking about Barack and his run being so historic, yet they aren't talking about the historic impact of the Clinton campaign? When did we have a female President in the past?

This is really something that has been eating at me. Neither one are my pick for President (mine is in 3rd), but I find the fact that they both are so successful in this election to be historic. Is the media following the way of Tweety and showing their sexist side again? I haven't heard any pundit say how historic it would be if a woman was elected President.

Also on the subject of Hillary, Karl Rove has an op-ed today about her victory. I must say I am shocked as it seems to be rather insightful and not echoing typical right wing talking points.

Don't Write Condi Off In 08

Posted 10/20/05 at 3:48pm by jamie

This past Sunday on Meet the Press, Condi told Tim Russert that she would not
run in 2008. The following is a transcript of the reasons for this:

MR. RUSSERT: Before you go, I'd like to read something from The
Washington Times. Headline: "Americans for Rice, a group that hopes to draft
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as a presidential candidate in 2008, has
paid for a 60-second ad to run in Des Moines, Iowa, on Tuesday night during
ABC's `Commander in Chief,' a new show about a female president of the
United States. Iowa, of course, traditionally holds the first presidential
contest, a caucus system. The same ad appeared in New Hampshire...during the
Sept. 27 broadcast of `Commander in Chief.' New Hampshire, of course,
traditionally holds the first presidential primary."

Would you accept a position on the Republican ticket in 2008?

SEC'Y RICE: Tim, I'm flattered that people think of me in that
way, but I think it was on your show that I said I don't know how many ways
to say no. I really am--I'm not somebody who wants to run for office,
haven't ever run for anything. I don't think I ever ran for high school
president. And I think I'm doing what I need to do, which is to try and
promote American foreign policy and American interests, the president's
democracy agenda at an extraordinary time. And to the degree that I can do
that across the world, that's what I'd better keep doing.
