Massive New Scandal That Could End Obama

Posted 9/14/11 at 10:36am by jamie

We need impeachment hearings NOW!

This morning, Fox & Friends joined the New York Post in attacking President Obama for using a paper clip. Read that again: They attacked Obama for using a paper clip.

The Post's story today on Obama's jobs bill is headlined "O gives jobs 'clip' service; $447B 'tax hike' plan bound by chintzy fastener," and its first two paragraphs attack Obama for his choice of document fasteners:

How dare that anti-American, mooslim, socialist traitor use a paper clip! He should have gone the much more costly route of having the bill professionally bound. I guess that’s what the right considers “cutting government waste”, instead of spending a few cents on a paper clip, you should spend a couple of bucks on binding.

This really serves as a reminder of how hated President Obama is by the right, including their media outlets. It’s like “feet on the desk gate” all over again. Remember that? How dare President Obama put his feet on the desk in the Oval Office, even though every other President had done the same thing before.

Angry Constituents Heat Up Democratic Townhalls Over Healthcare Reform

Posted 5/18/11 at 2:00pm by jamie

Just check out the anger that is brewing over at townhalls:

Of course my headline is totally misleading. Instead of Healthcare and Democratic Townhalls, it's actually Republican Townhalls and the issue of taxes, but my headline might get the media to actually notice that the Republicans are getting heat at townhalls over taxes and Medicare.

So, in this case, Rep. Dan Webster (R-FL) was confronted by many angry voters over the denial of raising corporate taxes or taxes on the wealthy. At one point he even threatened to kick out a voter, who kept pushing him on a question he refused to answer.

Where's the media outrage? Where's the flashing red light on Drudge or hours of "First Amendment violation" rhetoric on Fox?

Simple - the media don't care! Think about why. All the media people stand to lose if corporate taxes are raised or the top 2% end up having to pay their fair tax burden. They don't want people to know that there is a majority of Americans who are frustrated with the lower 98% paying for everything and getting more and more taken away.

If we can't get news of this outrage out in the open, then people will continue to be complacent and think they are in the minority. We really need to push these stories so that everyone can take notice and the Republicans are forced to change their tune.

New Right Wing Talking Point: Obama Has Destroyed The Dollar

Posted 4/24/11 at 7:39am by jamie

Suddenly the right is upset that the dollar has taken a big decline, but Barry Ritholtz states the facts, something the right seems unable to comprehend:

Where were all you concerned dollar bulls earlier in the decade? It strikes me that like the late-to-discover inflation, you folks cannot spot a trend until it bites you in your collective asses.

Barry even includes this handy chart to show the decline:

Sadly the ones making all the noise over the dollar’s decline are the very ones who tried to tell us that we didn’t have any problems in early 2008 – people like FOX  News. Even more sad is the fact that many people will buy into that, without taking the time to look into the data themselves.

Ron Paul Calls Reaction To Japan’s Reactors “Overblown”

Posted 3/16/11 at 12:12pm by jamie

That crazy old uncle is talking again:

Much of the reaction to the nuclear power crisis in Japan is "overblown" but the U.S. seems unlikely now to build another nuclear power plant, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) said Tuesday night.

"My guess is, when the dust settles, it won’t be nearly as bad as some of the scare tactics we have been reading about in the past couple of days," Paul, an advocate of nuclear power, told Fox Business Network. "Nuclear power is very dangerous, but it is also the safest form of energy we have.”

And this is coming from the guy who believes the government shouldn’t even regulate air traffic, let alone safety standards. His motto of “letting business regulate itself” is in full force with the Mark 1 reactors in Japan. Is this what we really want in America; in your backyard?

The Lies Continue From The Cincinnati Tea Party

Posted 4/16/10 at 8:09pm by jamie

This story is still going on and this latest lie really gets me:

The Cincinnati Tea Party asserts that although it was sharing a venue with Fox, its event was always separate from the Hannity show and book signing. It also said the Tea Party never promoted Hannity as a headliner for the rally.

Really? They never promoted Hannity as a headliner?

Look at the itinerary there. Everything is Hannity except for the doors opening. Then you got that big red block up there for Hannity as the main event. That certainly seems like headlining to me.

Chants Of “Refund” At The Cincy Tea Party

Posted 4/16/10 at 12:24am by jamie

Sounds like people were really mad about Hannity not being at the Cincinnati Tea Party tonight:

Several people in the audience shouted “refund!”
[SNIP]
The Tea Party reported about $77,500 in ticket sales. It had budgeted $70,200 in expenses for the event, including security and other costs, officials said. However, there will also likely be extra costs, as the group said in a news release late Thursday that it would honor requests for refunds. It said an e-mail address to request a refund would be set up within 48 hours.

There is a big blame game going on with this also:

Cincinnati Tea Party officials said the idea that they would make money on the event is false.

“The Left drove that story, Fox capitulated to it and left,” said Chris Littleton, a Cincinnati Tea Party spokesman. He criticized Fox for not coming to Tea Party if it had concerns.

Glenn Reynolds is reporting that Hannity’s deal was with the University of Cincinnati:

ANOTHER UPDATE: The Cincinnati Tea Party folks tell me that they had no deal with Hannity — he had a deal with the University of Cincinnati, and they had a deal with the University of Cincinnati, but there was no deal between them.

However a quick look at the UC calendar quickly shows that the event was the Cincinnati Tea Party with Sean Hannity. Also the tickets don’t mention anything about UC sponsoring or arranging the event, just that it was at their arena.

I Guess Murdoch Isn’t In Charge Of His Own Company

Posted 4/15/10 at 4:44pm by jamie

Last week Rupert Murdoch said that FOX shouldn’t be promoting the Tea Party. I guess FOX missed that memo. All day FOX has been broadcasting from the Tea Party in D.C. and then tonight you get this:

Jessica Brown reports from outside Fifth Third arena, where the Tea Party rally/Sean Hannity show taping will be held:

Justin Binik-Thomas, Vice President of National Affairs and Strategy for the Cincinnati Tea Party confirmed that the Sean Hannity show will now be a live show at 9 p.m. rather than a taped show at 6 p.m. The book signing will still begin at 4:30 p.m. The Tea Party speakers will be moved up to 6 p.m.

Yup – Hannity will be live from right here in Cincinnati tonight at a Tea Party rally. So much for what Murdoch said.

Rep. Eric Massa Challenges Dick Cheney To A Debate

Posted 12/30/09 at 8:35pm by jamie

Tonight Ed Schultz had Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY-29) and while talking about Cheney’s typical fear-mongering response, Massa decided it was time to call Cheney out. He challenges Cheney to a debate. When Ed told Massa Cheney would only do it on Fox, Massa said “so”. This was great and I wonder if Cheney will take him up on it.

For those not familar with Massa, he is a former Republican and retired Navy commander. While serving he was a top aide to General Wesley Clark when Clark was the NATO Supreme Commander. Massa was also a Republican, but left the party mainly over the issue of the Iraq War.

Massa has all the merits to debate how to fight and win this war on terror, so if Cheney feels he is so right about everything then he should have nothing to feat debating Massa. Can we get this scheduled now? I really think the American people deserve to hear a true debate about the war on terror.

What The Decade Has Wrought – The 24 Hour Opinion Cycle

Posted 12/28/09 at 11:21am by jamie

We hear the phrase “24 hour news cycle” an awful lot, but in reality we don’t have a 24 hour news cycle. Instead this decade has seen a 24 hour news cycle evolve into a 24 hour opinion cycle.

Take the case of my previous post of Mary Matalin claiming that Bush inherited 9/11 and reduced unemployment his first year in office. Both statements are completely false. When Bush took office unemployment was at 4.2% and had raised to 5.7% after his first year in office. Now a lot of people can defend this in part because of 9/11 and they would be right, but the fact is that Mary Matalin flat out lied and no one in the news world tried to correct her.

Welcome to the 24 hour opinion cycle.

What we are seeing now is more people able to take to their airwaves and spread their opinion, completely unchallenged and void of fact. This is evident on FOX, CNN and MSNBC. Even Keith Olbermann is more of an opinion show than news show.

People talk about how our nation has become so polarized over the past decade. We now see everything is right and left, or blue and red. This is a direct by-product of the 24 hour opinion cycle. Take Matalin’s comments yesterday. In our busy lives a lot of people don’t have the time to fact check people like Matalin. Instead they quickly catch a little talking point and it becomes fact to them. I am sure someone today will sit around the water cooler and say “you know that Bush reduced high unemployment he got from Clinton in his first year. I heard that on CNN yesterday.” Of course they are just echoing the very same lie, but they don’t know any better.
