Again its Florida! Again its Baptists!

Posted 7/28/05 at 11:55pm by jamie

Why is it the Baptists seem to always be the ones who start
controversy? This time it is from a Church in Florida and not the usual suspects
– Westmore Baptist Church in Kansas. From Science Daily:

Florida church speaks out against Islam

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., July 28 (UPI) -- A sign outside a
Jacksonville, Fla., church proclaims, "Islam is evil and believes in murder.
Jesus teaches peace."

The Rev. Gene Youngblood says the sign at the entrance of
First Conservative Baptist Church and the Conservative Theological Seminary
may be controversial but it has been researched and speaks the truth.

References to specific verses from the Koran and the
Bible accompany the statement, which Youngblood said are meant to serve as a
warning to society.

"I am of the opinion, based on enormous research of the
Muslims' own books, that Islam is the most vile, wicked, evil danger facing
the world today," Youngblood told the Jacksonville Times-Union. He said the
sign was inspired by this month's London terrorist bombings.

The church displayed a sign in 2003 declaring "Muhammad
approved murder." Youngblood runs a Web site -- www.truthsthatfree.com -- that
portrays what he considers to be the truth about Islam.

Muslims condemned the messages as hateful and ignorant

Bush's Supreme Court Pick is BAD!!!

Posted 7/20/05 at 1:10am by jamie

We have the pick, per CNN sources.. It is a far right conservative like I predicted. This shows that President Bush had no intentions of appointing someone that would be easily guaranteed a confirmation from Senate.

John G. Roberts was a co-writer in a brief stating that Roe V. Wade was wrongly decided. In other words he is PRO-LIFE.

This hard batting right winger has also argued against plaintiffs when it came to issues of the environment. He supports big business over the environment.

He has also taken stances in issues involving free speech and religious liberty by saying that public schools can have worship during graduation ceremonies. This person does not support freedom of speech, freedom of religion, or separation of church and state.

That’s right, our President has given us a hard liner, right wing, neo-con that is sure to call for a Democrat filibuster. This proves the fact that the President had no intentions of ever listening to Democrats when he consulted them. He did this just for show.

The fact that President Bush has selected such a hard line right winger also proves he is hoping the heated debate during the confirmation hearings will take the heat off of Karl Rove. This is going to get interesting!

Tabloid Nation

Can you pick out the highest impact headline

  1. Porn Sites May Get .XXX Suffix
  2. 'Runaway bride' gets probation
  3. President Was Waging War Before Congressional Authorization
  4. Photographer Crashes Into Lindsay Lohan

If you picked number three, then congratulations. And for your prize, you get
a Nation filled with news medias that will pick the remaining headlines as their
own.

It is a disappointing fact that our nation has fallen into the crave for
'tabloid' style headlines. With pop stars on trial, brides running from their
future husbands, and new involving pornography taking the grand stand in our
news today. It leaves you with a sense that the news media is acting like our
father, protecting us little Americans from the harsh reality that is out there
in the world. I mean if we had to face up to headlines that could implicate the
President in a scandal to wage war for false reasons, we might just break down.
We are a fragile people and thankfully we have the media giants to protect us
from stories our simple, tender minds could not handle hearing.

In fact the first amendment to our Constitution is close to non existent.
While we still have the freedom of speech and the freedom of press, the press is
scared to exercise that right, or face a sentence far worse than being detained
at Gitmo. God have mercy on them for reporting what would once be considered
'news'. If a member of the media has the audacity to report on something that
could be construed as negative press towards our White House, then they will be
labeled with that treasonous term of "LIBERAL".
