Sorry Jim Hoft - Your Lie FAILED!!!!!

Posted 8/23/11 at 4:04pm by jamie

Leave it to Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit idiocy to even screw up a lie! Here's what Hoft is posting about the earthquake:

When you clickthe link above the image it takes you to the White House's President's schedule, which of course shows no public events today. Clicking the Yahoo link takes you to the source of the image, where we are presented with this caption:

President Barack Obama, left, and his daughter Malia Obama, right, ride bicycles in Manuel F. Correllus State Forest, in West Tisbury, Mass., on the island of Martha's Vineyard, Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011.

The most interesting thing is that the photo was published a little 1:11 pm est. and Obama had already left. The earthquake happened at 1:51 pm est.

So what was the President really doing? Well another thing the right loves to attack - he was golfing! If Hoft would have waited a little bit longer he could have published a factual story with the same impact to the wingnuts out there instead of some fake one.

Everything Is Not A Conspiracy!

Posted 3/23/11 at 3:36pm by jamie

Let’s face it, we live in a world of people who do dumb things. They can be teachers, police, firefighters, doctors, politicians, doctors and yes, even military personnel. So when new images came out this week of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan posing with dead Afghan civilians, once again I thought “we got really dumb people in this world”. Of course that didn’t stop the right from launching an attack of the “far left international media”:

Far left international media outlets are reporting that US soldiers posed with the dead bodies of “defenseless” Afghanistan civilians. Der Spiegel reported that the US soldiers “killed Afghan civilians for fun, humiliating their victims with horrific pictures.” It is not known how Der Spiegel acquired the photos.

Jim Hoft, AKA Gateway Pundit, concluded that post with this:

So how did they get these photos? Who took them and what proof do they have that this is actually what took place?
I wait anxiously to hear the rest of the story.

Well we might not have found out the “rest” of the story, but today we found out a big chunk of it:

A 22-year-old U.S. soldier pleaded guilty Wednesday to the murders of three unarmed Afghan civilians in a war crimes probe that implicates a dozen members of his platoon and has raised some of the most serious criminal allegations to come from the war in Afghanistan.

Who Is Really Politicizing The Tucson Shooting?

Posted 1/16/11 at 10:09am by jamie

Just like deciphering the start of a problem in grade school, you always got to look deep into the facts to distill rightwing rhetoric. Since the Tucson shooting the right has strummed up the chorus to scream and shout that the left needs to stop politicizing the event. While there was some politicization from the left, none of it has been as vitriolic as that coming from the right. It’s the old “practice what I preach, not what I do” rhetoric we have sadly become used to.

I pointed some of this out earlier this week when wingnut blogger Jim Hoft started a big stink saying that President Obama lied at the memorial service when he said Gabby Giffords first opened her eyes. It got so bad that the doctors actually had to stop treating patients to go out and answer questions about it, backing up what the President said. Of course to the right these doctors are nothing but leftist liars, which is really ironic when you think about how the right always says doctors hate Obama because of health care reform.

Sadly though that smear was just the start of it. Jim Hoft is continuing to point out the evils of the memorial event:

Just when you think popular right wing blogger Jim “Dim” Hoft (Gateway Pundit) couldn’t possibly post anything more stupid than his last post, he finds a way to take it to the next level of numbskullitude.

Today’s entry in the “Hoft Chronicles of Sheer Stoopit” has him trying to claim that the White House prompted the audience to applaud at the “Together We Thrive” memorial (with his usual taste and class, Hoft calls it a “pep rally”): If White House Was Surprised by Applause at Tucson Pep Rally… Why Did They Ask For It On Jumbotron?

The Disgusting Lows Wingnuts Will Go To For A Smear

Posted 1/14/11 at 10:00am by jamie

This has to be one of the worst smears in the history of smears:

In one of the most cynical displays in recent memory, following the lead of Gateway Pundit Jim Hoft, several  conservative websites - including Fox Nation and MRC arm CNS News - suggested that President Obama lied last night when he said that Rep. Giffords had opened her eyes for the first time shortly after his Wednesday night visit to the hospital.

In a recently-completed press conference, Giffords' doctor Peter Rhee explained that what Obama said last night about Giffords opening her eyes was "true."

In response to a question from a reporter about previous statements that Giffords could open her eyes, Rhee and Dr. B Michael Lemole, Section Chief of Neurosurgery at University Medical Center in Tuscon, explained the important distinction. Namely, Giffords previously opened her eyes in response to "stimulus," and yesterday she opened them spontaneously, which represented a "major milestone" in her recovery.

This week we have heard repeatedly from the right that the left has been “politicizing” the tragedy in Tucson. While some on the left have, the right has also engaged in this. Right here is a perfect example of that and also one of the most vile. For the doctors to have to address this when they should be caring for patients shows just how hot this issue became – an issue based on lies and hatred towards our President.

John Wheeler, Former Bush Aide, Found Murdered In Landfill

Posted 1/3/11 at 2:39pm by jamie

Time for some more intrigue out of our nation’s capital:

A man who fought to get the Vietnam Veterans Memorial built and served in two Bush administrations was murdered, Delaware police say.

John P. Wheeler III, 66, was found dead in a Delaware landfill, and his death has been ruled a homicide by Newark, Del., police. They are asking the public for leads in the case.

Wheeler’s body was found in Wilmington on Friday after a disposal truck containing his body made pickups in Newark.

Wheeler, who lived in New Castle, was chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund during the Ronald Reagan era. He also held many high-profile government positions after graduating from West Point in 1966.

I’m sure conspiracy theories are going to go awry on this one, especially with Wheeler’s latest work being to get ROTC back into ivy league colleges.

Well that didn’t take long. Already appearing in the comments at Gateway Pundit:

“Liberals Hate Israel!”

Posted 12/6/10 at 8:21am by jamie

ISRAEL-FIRE/Jeffery Goldberg has written this in The Atlantic:

Inevitably, the Jewish National Fund, which, among other things, plants forests in Israel, is asking for donations from Americans for its "Forest Fire Emergency Campaign," in response to the massive fire spreading across the Carmel mountains. But I'm not giving.

Israel's per capita GDP is nearly $30,000. Israel is a rich country. The fact that it doesn't possess adequate firefighting equipment is its own fault. The fact that the leadership of its fire service is incompetent is its own fault (you can read more about that here).  At some point, the good-hearted Diaspora Jews who still think of Israel as a charity case are going to have to tell their cousins to learn to fully-fund basic services like firefighting if they want to be thought of as citizens of an advanced country.

So how does the right respond?

Gunman Storms The Discovery Building

Posted 9/1/10 at 3:26pm by jamie

Craziness in Maryland:

A gunman with an explosive device strapped to himself has entered the Discovery Communications building in Silver Spring, Md., and may have taken at least one person hostage, police said.

Montgomery County police said there may also be other explosives in the building, but they said they could not confirm reports that one or more shots had been fired.

Law enforcement authorities identified the man as James J. Lee. They told NBC News that he had a long history of protesting at the building. NBC said the man may have posted environmental and population-control demands online.

The suspect has a laundry list of demands posted on his website. Things from stopping global warming to ending illegal immigration and “anchor babies”.

While this guy appears to be an all around lunatic, that isn’t stopping the wingnuts from labeling him. Here’s Gateway Pundit:

GUNMAN, BOMBER, LEFTIST ACTIVIST- HOLDS HOSTAGES AT DISCOVERY BUILDING (Photo)

Yeah except the guy also holds some extreme rightwing views as well. But nothing takes the cake like ultra-radical Ace of Spades commenting on Lee being Asian:

I am speechless with this statement of absolute idiocy. I guess we should start calling Hitler an American, since America is a white country and Hitler was white.

(UPDATE - fixed the broken end of my post. My computer is getting silly and ready for a reboot)

How Does One Join The Actual Tea Party?

Posted 3/27/10 at 12:29pm by jamie

I’ve been reading this morning about Scott Ashjian, one of the 22 people running against Harry Reid. It looks like he is in some trouble:

A Nevada asphalt contractor who faces a legal challenge to his Tea Party of Nevada candidacy for U.S. Senate was hit Friday with felony theft and bad check charges in Las Vegas that allege he bounced a $5,000 business check last year.

Scott Ashjian is one of a record 22 candidates, including 12 Republicans, running for the seat held by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who is seeking a fifth term.

Now that is interesting in itself, but something is even more striking. Check out what wingnut blogs are saying about this. First up is Confederate Yankee:

But we're talking about fake Tea Party Senate candidate Scott Ashjian, who doesn't look like he'll be politically viable.

Then we have Gateway Pundit:

Fake tea party candidate Scott Ashjian, a Nevada asphalt contractor running for US Senate in Nevada, was charged Friday with felony theft and bad check charges in Las Vegas. The fake tea partier allegedly bounced a $5,000 business check last year.

And finally Moe Lane:

The actual Tea Party folks have already been pretty adamant about pointing out that they don’t know this guy

So who is the “actual” Tea Party folks? Is there a mailing address for them? How about their FEC disclosures?

Wingnuts Keep Lying About Saturday’s Turnout

Posted 9/14/09 at 10:25am by jamie

Here’s Gateway Pundit:

After the 2 million strong conservative freedom rally on 9-12:

Of course being a wingnut means not reading. If you check out that link here’s what you see:

As many as one million people flooded into Washington for a massive rally organised by conservatives claiming that President Obama is driving America towards socialism.

Hmm – one million, two million – what’s the difference? And even that one million is inflated. The official numbers are 60,000-70,000.

This is a typical response of “we want more” that the right constantly exhibits. For example; they get about 200 things put into healthcare that they wanted, yet that isn’t enough. Most organizers would be happy of such a turnout, but not the childish right.

Right Wing Outrage Over CBS Article

Posted 6/15/09 at 10:07am by jamie

CBS has published a New Republic article entitled “Meet Iran’s George W. Bush”, in which they talk about the similarities between the election in Iran and the 2004 election for George Bush. Now the right is up in arms over this.

Gateway Pundit:

THIS IS WAY-WAY OVER THE TOP----
CBS compares Iran's Holocaust denier, womens right's abuser, America-hating radical to George W. Bush.

NewsBusters:

In today's "Will Bush Derangement Syndrome Ever End" segment, CBSNews.com published an article from The New Republic comparing Iran's crazed leader who believes the holocaust never happened and Israel should be wiped off the face of the planet to -- wait for it! -- America's 43rd president.

Isn't that special?

Wizbang Backup:

This is an outrage! CBS has a piece on their website that is so out of line it's one of the most agregious and disgusting examples of media malpractice I think I have ever seen.

So did these people express the same outrage every time FOX news called President Obama a terrorist or change his name to Osama? Nope. So either they think its ok to say things like this about a democratic president, or they think Osama isn’t as bad as Ahmadinejad. Either reason is totally inexcusable.

Trying To Find The Bad Polling

Posted 3/31/09 at 2:39pm by jamie

A new Washington Post/ABC news poll has come out, and it finds President Obama still enjoying a 66% approval rating. 42% also think the country is heading in the right direction. Compare that to when Bush was in office:

                Right Wrong No
              direction track opinion
3/29/09 42 57 1
2/22/09 31 67 2
1/16/09 19 78 3
12/14/08 15 82 3

Obama’s numbers have almost tripled, and that has the wingnuts pissed off, like Gateway Pundit:

UPDATE: Of course... MSNBC's poll (linked above) is hopelessly biased.

Even with an 11-point advantage among Democrats, Obama cannot convince a majority that the country is on the right track.

First things first. This poll was conducted by Washington Post and ABC news, not MSNBC. MSNBC just happed to report on it.

Also, when do you think the last time that 42% thought the country was on the right track? Well the poll tells us:

4/18/04 42 57 1

So we haven’t seen that kind of number since Bush’s first term! Damn Obama just can’t close the deal!!

The spin doesn’t stop there. Gateway Pundit took that from Ace of Spades, which said:
