Beckpocalypse

Posted 3/7/11 at 2:17pm by jamie

It's no secret that Glenn Beck's show on FOX News has been in a rapid decline in terms of content, viewers and sponsors. Now it looks like the end to Beck's television show could be in sight:

But a funny thing happened on the way from the revolution. Since last August, when he summoned more than 100,000 followers to the Washington mall for the “Restoring Honor” rally, Mr. Beck has lost over a third of his audience on Fox — a greater percentage drop than other hosts at Fox. True, he fell from the great heights of the health care debate in January 2010, but there has been worrisome erosion — more than one million viewers — especially in the younger demographic.

He still has numbers that just about any cable news host would envy and, with about two million viewers a night, outdraws all his competition combined. But the erosion is significant enough that Fox News officials are willing to say — anonymously, of course; they don’t want to be identified as criticizing the talent — that they are looking at the end of his contract in December and contemplating life without Mr. Beck.

The problem is that crazy still sells, so Bec could end up holding on. That is unless FOX can find someone even crazier to fill the spot. God help us all if that happens.

Everything Is Bigger In Texas

Posted 1/4/11 at 12:47pm by jamie

Including their deficit:

This month the state's part-time legislature goes back into session, and the state is starting at potentially a $25 billion deficit on a two-year budget of around $95 billion. That's enormous. And there's not much fat to cut. The whole budget is basically education and healthcare spending. Cutting everything else wouldn't do the trick. And though raising this kind of money would be easy on an economy of $1.2 trillion, the new GOP mega-majority in Congress is firmly against raising any revenue.

So the bi-ennial legislature, which convenes this month, faces some hard cuts. Some in the Texas GDP haveadvocated dropping Medicaid altogether to save money.

And the most important part of the article?

So why haven't we heard more about Texas, one of the most important economy's in America? Well, it's because it doesn't fit the script. It's a pro-business, lean-spending, no-union state. You can't fit it into a nice storyline, so it's ignored.

True dat! This isn’t some blue state like California or Illinois. This is the heart of red state America and God forbid the “liberal” media makes them look bad!

Yoga: The New Taboo

Posted 10/7/10 at 7:42am by jamie

30384-beach_yoga_aw The fundies of this country are trying to out-crazy themselves now:

A Southern Baptist leader who is calling for Christians to avoid yoga and its spiritual attachments is getting plenty of pushback from enthusiasts who defend the ancient practice.

Southern Baptist Seminary President Albert Mohler says the stretching and meditative discipline derived from Eastern religions is not a Christian pathway to God.

Mohler said he objects to "the idea that the body is a vehicle for reaching consciousness with the divine."

"That's just not Christianity," Mohler told The Associated Press.

So I guess the “Christian” thing is to not be limber and stressed out all the time? That sounds about right…

Saxby Chambliss Calls Blogger “Joe My God” To Apologize Over Staffers Comment

Posted 10/1/10 at 8:26am by jamie

Last week a staffer for Senator Saxby Chambliss posted a comment on the blog Joe My God stating “all faggots must die”. We were unsure at the time if the investigation that we were told would take place would actually happen. Well it did and it has resulted in the removal of a staffer to Senator Chambliss and Chambliss himself calling Joe to apologize. I will give the Senator credit for handling this in a very appropriate way. So many times stories like this get buried and we never learn what really happened.

Video Of Jesus Going Up In Flames

Posted 6/15/10 at 8:52am by jamie

All the talk in the Cincinnati area today is of the fire that destroyed the huge Jesus statue along I-75 last night. Today video finally surfaced of the fire:

I've also decided that if this statue is back in 3 days that I will become a believer.

ADDING... This fire happened on the same day that right wing mouth piece Bill Cunningham announced he would be staying on the air in Cincinnati. Maybe there really is a God and he's pissed at Cincinnati for letting such a hate mongering asshole continue to pollute the airwaves.

Wetlands “Blanketed With Oil”

Posted 5/20/10 at 11:16am by jamie

Now that the oil is reaching the Louisiana marshes and wetlands, we are getting more heart wrenching video of the mess caused by BP

With less than two weeks to go before the start of hurricane season, we are seeing New Orleans main protection buffer from the fierce storms being destroyed before our very eyes. God help us if there’s another Katrina style hurricane.

They have found a boat! A really old boat that is and once again we hear claims that it is Noah’s ark:

fnna

From the article:

A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers say wooden remains they have discovered on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey are the remains of Noah's Ark.

The group claims that carbon dating proves the relics are 4,800 years old, meaning they date to around the same time the ark was said to be afloat. Mt. Ararat has long been suspected as the final resting place of the craft by evangelicals and literalists hoping to validate biblical stories.

Yeung Wing-Cheung, from the Noah's Ark Ministries International research team that made the discovery, said: "It's not 100 percent that it is Noah's Ark, but we think it is 99.9 percent that this is it."

Wait…

They used carbon dating to figure out how old it is? Would this be the same carbon dating that proves caveman lived tens of thousands of years before God created Adam and Eve? I thought that kind of witchcraft was frowned upon by the church!

IOKIYAR – Part 15101

Posted 3/20/10 at 10:23am by jamie

God forbid that we allow any abortion coverage in the health care bill:

While Republicans and some Democrats want to hold up health care reform because of the false premise that abortions would be covered, the Washington State GOP provides its employees health care through a consortium that does just that. Congresswoman Cathy McMorris-Rodgers blasted Democrats for favoring a health reform plan that includes abortion coverage, even though her own state party is covered via AWB Health Choice, which covers abortions.

What’s good for the goose, well apparently it’s just good for that goose.

Your Liberal Media

Posted 1/14/10 at 10:05am by jamie

Watching MSNBC this morning I haven’t seen any mention of Freedom Works, the force behind the Tea Party, urging President Obama and Congress to not help out Haiti.

It’s amazing to think about. Whenever there is any news about the tea party, the mainstream media is like a crowd trying to enter Wal-Mart on black Friday to cover the story. Now we have some very big news about the tea party and the media flat out ignores it. God forbid they actually have to give the tea baggers some negative coverage.

So there you have your liberal media at work – ignoring something as horrible as the position Freedom Works is taking against the poor people of Haiti.

TSA Agent: “I am god, I’m in charge”

Posted 1/7/10 at 10:02am by jamie

Stories like this really leave you with a warm, fuzzy feeling about the people charged with protecting our airlines from having terrorists board:

They are the first line of defense in airport security but two troubling incidents involving TSA agents at LAX are raising concerns.

A TSA agent was arrested on January 3rd in Terminal One at LAX, a source told NBCLA. He had just gotten off duty and was behaving erratically, saying, "I am god, I’m in charge."  The agent was arrested.
Meanwhile, a TSA Internal Affairs investigation turned up evidence of LAX TSA agents using drugs at an after-hours party.

TSA officials say a videotape of the party was of poor quality and the employees were not in uniform, but 4 employees were tentatively identified.

All 4 were tested for drugs. One came back positive and that employee was fired.

They Were Kung Fu Fighting!

Chris Matthews shows his infinite wisdom yet again:

"And I think we have got to get serious about catching terrorists, not just catching weapons. I‘m waiting for the terrorist who knows kung fu or something that gets on an airplane without a weapon. God knows what that is going to be like."

Welcome to the age of the Steven Seagal/Jean-Claude Van Damme super morphed terrorist! You know – a man who can single handedly take down an entire plan full of passengers with nothing but hand to hand combat.

In other words – Chris Matthews, what a twit!

Want Abortion Covered? Go Work For The RNC

Posted 11/12/09 at 6:32pm by jamie

My God you can’t say hypocrite loud enough when reading this:

The Republican National Committee’s health insurance plan covers elective abortion – a procedure the party’s own platform calls “a fundamental assault on innocent human life.”

Federal Election Commission Records show the RNC purchases its insurance from Cigna. Two sales agents for the company said that the RNC’s policy covers elective abortion.

So the only way a woman can have abortion covered by insurance is to go work for the RNC? If we ever had a reason to strip that awful Stupak amendment, this is it. Any Republican that opposes also needs to be called out on it.

Sanford – Politics Before Family

Posted 7/1/09 at 9:17am by jamie

It’s amazing to hear Sanford now admit he had “crossed the line” with more women. So Sanford stood before the people of his state last week and lied while begging forgiveness. He even has been invoking God on his lies. This man is a plethora of sin.

But if that isn’t enough, this part really got me:

During an emotional interview at his Statehouse office with The Associated Press on Tuesday, Sanford said Chapur is his soul mate but he's trying to fall back in love with his wife.

Now we have a man who is putting his political future before his family. Growing up in a family where your parents are no longer in love is not fun, and becomes stressful. Sanford isn’t thinking about his wife or his kids. He wants to put on some charade just so he looks politically viable. And any Republican who supports Sanford’s will to remain in office are every bit as guilty as he is. If people like Lindsey Graham and Joe Scarborough are truly friends of Sanford then they would tell him he needs to either resign or let go of his family. Let Jenny move on and stop prolonging the inevitable pain his children will go through. This isn’t about politics, its about human lives.
