She May Go Away But The Ethics Complaints Keep On Coming

Posted 7/7/09 at 8:55am by jamie

Despite Palin’s announced resignation, she is still getting hit with ethics complaints:

Zane Henning -- a conservative government watchdog from the governor's hometown of Wasilla and an oilfield worker on Alaska's North Slope -- asserts in a letter to Alaska Attorney General Daniel S. Sullivan that Palin has "been charging and pocketing per diem to live in her home and has used the process for a personal gain since being elected."

Got that? This is a conservative filing the complaint, not “some liberals”. And if you read the entire thing, you will also question this practice Queen Sarah partook in. Now I just wonder if I will get sued by Palin for mentioning it?

Does McCain Know Sarah?

John McCain has been very vocal on reducing taxes for big oil. I wonder how this plays into it:

"She's not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president? said Green, a Republican from Palin's hometown of Wasilla. "Look at what she's done to this state. What would she do to the nation?"

Green, who has feuded with Palin, brought up the big oil tax increase Palin pushed through last year. She also pointed to the award of a $500 million state subsidy to a Canadian firm to pursue a natural gas pipeline that's far from guaranteed.

Obama talks about raising taxes on big oil and gets blasted by Republicans. Palin did raise taxes on big oil and the Republicans call her a reformer. So does McCain really know the person he has chosen? It doesn't sound like it.

Steve Chabot Sides With Democrats On Foreclosure Protection

Posted 2/19/08 at 12:11pm by jamie

This is rather shocking. Chabot is a staunch conservative, but this looks to be the reasons he is siding with Democrats:

But when foreclosures in his hometown of Cincinnati skyrocketed, Chabot found himself aligned with Democrats - and against his party's leaders, his conservative colleagues and the White House.

I can say firsthand that foreclosures are skyrocketing here in the greater Cincinnati area. Part of my business involves photography of houses that are going on the market. We are starting to see a lot of these homes pop up. Yes it means more work for me, but you can't help but feel bad for the people losing their homes.

I give Chabot credit for wanting to help the common man. Most conservatives won't do that. Instead they choose to help big business.

Current TV is Growing

Posted 5/5/06 at 1:36pm by jamie

Al Gore's Current TV has been growing. Just this week Current TV hired Emmy award winner Madeline Smithberg, co-creator of The Daily Show. She was hired as a creative consultant and executive producer.

I have not been keeping up much with Current TV but I think that will change. Looking through their schedule, they have some interesting programs on there. Coming up in just a few minutes is a nine minute special on Zarqawi's hometown. It is shows like these that we don't see on the major networks that give us a little more perspective into our enemies.

Below the fold is a five minute animation Current TV did about the immigration debate. This was really well done and is set during the time of the Pilgrims landing in the new world.

The immigration debate blows up when the Pilgrims protest limitations to their rights in America...

Take a couple minutes and check it out.

Its Sunday - A Day to Shun the Religious Extremists

Posted 9/11/05 at 4:44pm by jamie

(there is some question to if Robertson actually said what is below. I will keep the post here and update it if he did not say it. It would not shock me one bit if he did)

I have heard numerous arguments from the religious fanatics
about why Katrina was so devastating. Fred Phelps of
Westboro Baptist
Church
says it
was because New Orleans is a “symbol of America, seen for what it is: a putrid,
toxic, stinking cesspool of fag fecal matter”. We all know old Fred Phelps is
definitely a bunch of fried short of a Happy Meal.

Today
Pat Robertson shed some light on God’s reasoning for
striking a devastating blow to the Gulf Coast. He told his followers that it was
God’s way of expressing his anger at the Academy of Television Arts and Science
for selecting Ellen Degeneres to host its annual show.

"By choosing an avowed lesbian for this national event,
these Hollywood elites have clearly invited God’s wrath. Is it any surprise that
the Almighty chose to strike at Miss Degeneres’ hometown?”

It amazes me that this nut job has any kind of following at
all. It is also an insult to the people of this country that not only our
President, but so many citizens hold him in such high regards as a moral and
spiritual leader.
