Coming To The Defense

Joe Klein sums up what I have been feeling:

I've been watching cable news this afternon--I know, get a life!--and you know, Barack Obama comes from the same state as Rod Blagoyevich. That is really suspicious! What did he know and when did he know it? This is the first major scandal of the Obama Administration! He has to explain himself. You notice he hasn't had any press conferences since this thing broke...oh, wait. He's having a press conference tomorrow...And Patrick Fitzgerald said that Obama is no way involved in this? I'll bet! That's not what Sean Hannity thinks! It's a coverup for sure. Will Obama be the first President to be impeached before he's inaugurated?

Everyone is digging for connections. They won’t find them though. Even if Obama was somehow connected, or had knowledge of what was going on, he is way to smart to get caught up in this. Even major media outlets are grasping at far-reaching straws to try and make a connection.

The McCain campaign doesn't like being called what they are - liars:

Sen. John McCain’s top campaign aides convened a conference call today to complain of being called “liars.” They pressed the media to scrutinize specific elements of Sen. Barack Obama’s record.

But the call was so rife with simple, often inexplicable misstatements of fact that it may have had the opposite effect: to deepen the perception, dangerous to McCain, that he and his aides have little regard for factual accuracy.

Shark jumping by Schmidt? Joe Klein thinks so.

Even Joe Klein Is Mad About McCain's Catholic Bashing Support

Posted 3/1/08 at 12:10pm by jamie

McCain is in it knee deep when Klein is even going after him:

Hagee is a loose cannon Revelation literalist who believes that a Greater Israel--including the Palestinian territorities--will presage Armeggedon and the Rapture. He isn't a big fan of Roman Catholicism. This is an interesting political situation for McCain, who angered wingnuts by--honorably--dissing Cincinnati talk show host Bill Cunningham earlier this week. A McCain rejection of Hagee's support would be seen as another sign of weakness by Rush and such. An acceptance of Hagee's support would spell trouble for McCain with catholics and sane people everywhere. So, what's it to be, Senator?

True the Republicans just use religion as a political tool. It's nothing more than that. Look at how they change religion just to appease a block of voters.

I Can't Believe I Am Quoting Joe Klein

Posted 2/20/08 at 9:41am by jamie

This morning on Morning Joe they were talking about Obama not having much experience or accomplishments in the Senate. Joe Klein actually brought up a very interesting point. There was another Senator who didn't have much experience or accomplishments and became President, and was a very much loved President. That person? John Kennedy.

I wanted to bring this up because of something that happened on MSNBC last night. Huffington Post posted a video of Chris Matthews "humiliating" an Obama Surrogate last night. The surrogate, Texas State Senator Kirk Watson, was asked by Tweety to name one accomplishment Obama has had in Senate. When he couldn't, Tweety kept pushing and pushing him.

Huffington Post didn't include the last part of this segment though. At the end, Keith Olbermann asked Tweety to name one accomplishment of the entire Senate during that time. Matthews couldn't and said that "would require much more work". So highlighting the accomplishments of a single person is easier than naming one out of 100 people? That makes a lot of sense.

Debunking the Klein Line

Posted 3/19/07 at 9:27pm by jamie

Joe Klein writes this:

Then again, the Republicans are fielding a motley crew right now: if you count Newt Gingrich, who'll probably join the fray in the fall, the four leading candidates have had nine marriages among them: Giuliani three, Gingrich three, McCain two and Romney one. The Republican faithful are left with a devil of a choice: moderate candidates who live like liberals, or religious conservatives who talk like liberals.

But as TPM points out none of the Democratic front-runners have been divorced AT ALL! Perhaps someone should tell Klein that these are Republicans acting like - well Republicans. They are the typical hypocrites.

Bush - Crushing The Dreams Of Children 100 At A Time

Posted 10/22/05 at 11:15pm by jamie

Remember early in the Clinton years when there was so much being said about
his $200 haircut that took place on a runway at LAX. Joe Klein even rehashed it
in his smear book "The Truth About Hillary". There was an FAA investigation into
it because of the rumored flight delays, which eventually turned out not to be
true.

Wouldn't causing a child's first field trip to be cancelled be just as bad if
not worse than a possible delay in a flight? After all, flights are delayed on a
daily basis. Children's first field trips only come once in a life.

Perhaps Congress should have a look into President Bush's destroying of some
childhood memories yesterday.

Bush motorcade leaves other folks
fuming

By Dana Bartholomew, Staff Writer LA Daily News

One hundred Brentwood kindergartners, many dressed in costumes, were all
set to go see "The Wizard of Oz" on Friday when their first-ever field trip
was blocked by the nation's 43rd president. They never got to see the
wizard.

President George W. Bush, his Marine One helicopter grounded by fog,
brought morning rush hour to a standstill while his motorcade proceeded from
West Los Angeles through the San Fernando Valley to Simi Valley for the
dedication of the Air Force One Pavilion.

"We had buses all loaded up - but by the time they got to school it was
too late," said Julie Fahn, a volunteer mom at Kenter Canyon Elementary in
Brentwood, where girls had dressed as Dorothy to see the play performed in
Malibu.

"My poor children - they were so disappointed. They're all so sad. They
were inconvenienced by a silly motorcade down Sunset (Boulevard)."
