Killing Children In The Name Of God

Posted 8/17/11 at 9:35am by jamie

(via Raw Story)

When we hear about the extremes some Muslims go to when they punish spouses or children, a lot of Christians quickly blast the faith. It's funny how quickly they forget a lot of the same "punishments" are also taught in the bible, but not Kevin and Elizabeth Schatz:

Three years ago, Kevin Schatz and his wife Elizabeth did something so noble, a local television station featured them; the pair decided to adopt three children from Liberia. Now, they're accused of killing one of the children because she mispronounced a word.

Prosecutors say that the California couple used quarter-inch plastic tubing to beat their seven-year-old adopted daughter to death.

Apparently, they got the idea from a fundamentalist Christian group, which promotes this as a way of training children to be obedient.

ABC’s Self Inflicted Wounds

Posted 11/1/10 at 12:00pm by jamie

8415I haven’t posted yet on the decision by ABC News to use Andrew Breitbart as some sort of analysis for their election night coverage. I didn’t think I really need to say how bad of a decision I thought this was, but now it’s getting beyond what I thought it would.

When ABC decided to clarify that Breitbart would only appear on their webcasts that was expected to temper down the backlash somewhat. Well it didn’t work and now the new firestorm ABC is facing comes from none other than Breitbart himself. From Greg Sargent:

You have to wonder if ABC News is regretting its decision to get within a thousand miles of Andrew Breitbart. The guy is now accusing the network of lying about whether they had tapped him to do on-air election night analysis.

ABC News, in a statement sent my way, adamantly denied Breitbart's latest attack. But it appears he will still have some kind of role with ABC's coverage.

This is worth noting, because it shows how insane it is for any serious news organization to play footsie with this guy. He's a relentless self-promoter who's clearly seizing on this standoff to turn himself into some kind of First Amendment martyr, even if it means dumping all over the organization that originally extended him the invite to participate.

McCain’s Dementia

Posted 1/28/10 at 9:34am by jamie

John McCain blasted off a campaign email last night that stated the following:

During his first year in office, President Obama and Congressional Democrats have amassed a $12.4 trillion deficit that is growing each day.

A trillion dollars a month? Wow that’s amazing for a party that hasn’t accomplished that much due to Republican obstructionism. So we need to mark that as a flat out lie.

But it gets even better. This is from Media Matter’s fact check:

In fact, the FY 2009 deficit, which totaled $1.4 trillion, was already estimated to be $1.2 trillion when Obama came into office and "virtually the entire deficit over the next ten years" are due either to policies implemented under President Bush or to the recession, which began during Bush's tenure, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

Now what big policy implemented under Bush would have raised it so much? Maybe TARP – the bank bailout. And yes this would be the very same bank bailout that McCain suspended his campaign to go to Washington and help make sure it passed.

I would much rather see some tea bagger win McCain’s seat than him get sent back for another term. This guy isn’t just a hypocrite – he’s a flat out liar.

Utter Tea Bagger Stupidity

Posted 12/11/09 at 11:02am by jamie

I just caught Matt Kibbe from Freedom Works on  MSNBC saying that the problem with Democrats is that if you are conservative you HAVE to vote with the liberal caucus and Nancy Pelosi.

Matt is either a complete liar or 120% ignorant to American politics. If what he claimed was true then we would have awesome healthcare and a robust public option.

And this reminds me that I really need a new capture device for my computer that will work with Windows 7 so I can go back to making videos.

Wingnuts Go Crazy Claiming Hypocrisy On Calling The President A Liar

Posted 9/15/09 at 10:46am by jamie

As the House prepares to take up a resolution of disapproval over Rep. Joe Wilson’s outburst during last week’s appearance by President Obama to a joint session of Congress, the wingnuts have found what they claim to be “hypocrisy” on the Democrats part.

This video is from 2007 when Rep. Pete Stark was saying how Bush lied:

Now let’s go back to the current event. The Democrats asked Joe Wilson to apologize on the House floor for his outburst and he flat out refused. It was that refusal that led to this motion.

What happened with Pete Stark? Well something the wingnuts aren’t willing to admit, yet I found out on HotAir – a rightwing blog:

Drudge Tries To Spin Up The Defense Of Wilson

Posted 9/10/09 at 8:30am by jamie

Drudge is linking a couple of past stories on the top of his site:

drjwde

The first article refers to Harry Reid make the statement while discussing filibusters to some high school students and the second refers to an appearance on Meet the Press. Both of these are far different than calling the President a liar on a nationally televised speech before a joint session of Congress.

The final article talks about the Democrats booing Bush during his State of the Union in 2005. Apparently Drudge didn’t even read what he linked to because it is a Media Matters piece that talks about the right being up in arms over this, even though they did the same thing to Clinton. Of course there is a major difference between booing and calling someone a liar.

What Rep. Joe Wilson did is unprecedented, and actually a breech of protocol according to one former representative – Joe Scarborough. The fact that Drudge is trying to defend this action shows that he has no respect for the office of the Presidency. And could you just imagine how Drudge would react if someone like Dennis Kucinich called President Bush a liar? It would be an all out war.

Sarah Palin Is Nothing But A Liar

Posted 7/9/09 at 12:13pm by jamie

It’s no wonder why the hard core conservatives love this chick. It seems like every time she opens her mouth nothing comes out but lies. Take this latest example. One of her reasons for resigning was that it was costing the taxpayers too much money to fight the ethics complaints. Well it turns out that is flatly wrong:

But there's new evidence to suggest the argument is just factually wrong. Greg Sargent reported that the governor's own office conceded yesterday that money used to respond to the ethics charges are part of fixed costs that would have gone to the same lawyers, whether the charges were filed or not. The funds wouldn't have to go schools, police, or transportation, as Palin claimed. The $1.9 million "was arrived at by adding up attorney hours spent on fending off complaints -- based on the fixed salaries of lawyers in the governor's office and the Department of Law. The money would have gone to the lawyers no matter what they were doing."

Palin’s biggest problem is that she can’t keep her mouth shut. People talk about Biden’s mouth. His is nothing compared to hers. And the right thinks this lady is presidential material? Now that is down right laughable.

DNC Fires Back At John “The Liar” Boehner In New Ad

Posted 7/8/09 at 11:44am by jamie

Following Boehner’s having to walk back remarks he made this weekend about stimulus money not being spent in Ohio the DNC has launched a new ad:

The most disturbing thing is that the local media isn’t covering this. If you relied upon the news in Boehner’s own district you wouldn’t hear about it. Its this lack of journalism that keep people like Boehner in office and the people of Ohio’s 8th being screwed over by him.

Scarborough’s Amnesia

Posted 6/13/09 at 8:35am by jamie

Watch this compilation video Media Matters put together of Joe Scarborough on the DHS report, then decide – is Scarborough suffering from amnesia or is he just a plan old liar?

Last month Scarborough said he couldn’t believe that the DHS released a report “attacking right wingers” and then yesterday he said he never criticized that report. And during all of it his lap dog Mika sits there agreeing.

Jane Harman The Liar

Posted 4/21/09 at 9:15am by jamie

After yesterday’s back and forth of rather or not Jane Harman got the New York Times to hold the wiretapping story in 2004, it is now confirmed. She in fact did:

Congresswoman Harman spoke to Washington Bureau Chief Phil Taubman in late October or early November, 2004, apparently at the request of General Hayden. She urged that The Times not publish the story. She did not speak to me, and I don’t remember her being a significant factor in my decision. In 2005, when we were getting ready to publish, Phil met with a group of congressional leaders familiar with the eavesdropping program, including Ms. Harman. They all argued that The Times should not publish. The Times published the story a few days later.

Harman did so at the request of Michael Hayden, Bush’s National Security Adviser.

This lady is a traitor all the way around. Being a traitor to her party is bad, but being a traitor to our nation is unacceptable. I hope the Democrats do the right thing and start an investigation of their own. She also shouldn’t be allowed to remain on any committees during this time.

LIAR!

Posted 2/27/09 at 2:43pm by jamie

So the man coined as the next Ronald Reagan by Rush Limbaugh lied to the American people in his national debut:

Jindal had described being in the office of Sheriff Harry Lee "during Katrina," and hearing him yelling into the phone at a government bureaucrat who was refusing to let him send volunteer boats out to rescue stranded storm victims, because they didn't have the necessary permits. Jindal said he told Lee, "that's ridiculous," prompting Lee to tell the bureaucrat that the rescue effort would go ahead and he or she could arrest both Lee and Jindal.

But now, a Jindal spokeswoman has admitted to Politico that in reality, Jindal overheard Lee talking about the episode to someone else by phone "days later." The spokeswoman said she thought Lee, who died in 2007, was being interviewed about the incident at the time.

Smooth move Republicans. So your golden boy lied about a story. Not only did he lie, but let’s look at that story again:

Joe “The Plumber” Reporting

Posted 1/12/09 at 9:25am by jamie

I was ignoring the story of the wingnut Pajamas Media sending Joe “the Plumber” to Israel to be some new “war correspondent”. Let’s face it – you can send anyone to a situation and get whatever spin you want out of it, and old Joe the Plumber Liar is no different.

But now that has changed. He had to open his mouth and make another one of his idiotic comments:

I’ll be honest with you. I don’t think journalists should be anywhere allowed war. I mean, you guys report where our troops are at. You report what’s happening day to day. You make a big deal out of it. I think it’s asinine. You know, I liked back in World War I and World War II when you’d go to the theater and you’d see your troops on, you know, the screen and everyone would be real excited and happy for’em. Now everyone’s got an opinion and wants to downer–and down soldiers. You know, American soldiers or Israeli soldiers.

{[}]lt;strong>I think media should be abolished from, uh, you know, reporting. You know, war is hell. And if you’re gonna sit there and say, “Well look at this atrocity,” well you don’t know the whole story behind it half the time, so I think the media should have no business in it.
