]America, we have a problem!

At least 3 men accused of making threats during or after watching the new Batman movie have been arrested in separate incidents, underscoring moviegoers' anxieties and heightened security in the wake of a deadly mass shooting at a Colorado theater showing the film.

A Maine man was arrested when he told authorities that he was on his way to shoot a former employer a day after watching "The Dark Knight Rises," Maine state police said Monday.

Timothy Courtois of Biddeford, Maine, had been stopped for speeding, and a police search of his car found an AK-47 assault weapon, four handguns, ammunition and news clippings about the mass shooting that left 12 people dead early Friday, authorities said.

Luckily none of these incidents were actually carried out, but it shows the dangers we are facing in this nation. Going to the movies used to be considered a fun and safe way to get out. Now people have to fear for their lives in movie theaters.

And when you look at the Maine incident, you get an eerie reminder of James Holmes. This guy was heavily armed, but look at what they found in his home:

Police searched Courtois' home later Sunday and found a machine gun, several other guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

For Claiming Their Love Of Democracy, Republican Sure Love To Screw It!

If you can’t beat them, change the system so you can!

Here’s the story. The electoral college is mandated by the Constitution as the way to determine the winner of presidential elections, but it’s up to each state to decide how to apportion their electoral votes. Traditionally, states have chosen a winner-take-all system, because that maximizes the state’s clout. Indeed, that’s why large and close states such as Pennsylvania, Florida, and Ohio are so important in presidential elections.

But now, as Nick Baumann reports, Republicans who control Pennsylvania government after the 2010 elections are pushing a scheme to apportion electoral votes by Congressional district (as Maine and Nebraska currently do). The effect would be to basically make Pennsylvania a marginal player in the 2012 election. After all, most House districts (including those in the Keystone State) have lopsided partisan majorities, so they wouldn’t be in play, and parties would be unlikely to devote serious resources to try to pick off a couple of electoral votes in the swing districts — and even less unlikely to devote the massive resources it would take to capture the two remaining at-large votes, given that it would be far more efficient to use the money in much smaller states with more (winner-take-all) electoral votes up for grabs.

Hillary's Campaign Manager Out

Sunday's are supposed to be slow! I spend a few hours with the family and all kinds of news breaks.

This is rather big news though. For a campaign to have a high level shake up this far into the ballot counting isn't something to take lightly:

I've just obtained an internal Hillary email from campaign manager Patty Solis Doyle to Hillary's staff announcing that in a reshuffling of the campaign's inner circle, she's leaving the post of campaign manager, and is being replaced by longtime trusted aide Maggie Williams:

Read the entire letter here.

After Obama's sweep yesterday and a possible win in Maine today, plus the the polls looking very bad for her on Tuesday, this is a sign that Clinton realizes the tough time ahead.

(Oh and on a side note. Obama is also a Grammy winner now. He won the award for spoked word of his book "The Audacity of Hope", beating out Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter.)

Another Episode Of "Joe the Republican"

Of course we are talking about Lieberman here:

Not only has Lieberman endorsed Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine.) -- one of Democrats' biggest targets in the 2008 cycle -- but he's planning to co-host a fundraiser for her on June 21 in Washington, D.C

Oh to think when the Democrats increase their majority in 2008 and they can tell Lieberman to go fuck himself. He is a two faced bastard that only worries about Joe.
