Rahm On His Way Out?

Posted 9/8/10 at 10:17am by jamie

One can only hope so:

Amid mounting signs that Rahm Emanuel will leave the White House to run for mayor in Chicago, Democratic insiders say President Barack Obama is likely to choose a new chief of staff who's already in his orbit but has experience with previous administrations.

The goal: to keep a comfort level for the president while simultaneously bringing in an outside perspective that would help dilute the insularity of the current West Wing.

Rahm is by far my least favorite person in this administration. Seeing him hit the trails would be a major win for the Obama presidency.

Maybe Rahm will announce this week he is taking a new job for the Jewish new year?

The Joe And Mika Talking Points Show

Posted 5/19/09 at 7:13am by jamie

I have had Morning Joe on for about 45 minutes now. Guess what the subject has been? Nancy Pelosi and the CIA crap. The constant whining of “how can she lash out at the CIA” is getting very old.

Scarborough has essentially dedicated his last 4 shows to this subject. This morning they are talking about the statement from Leon Panetta like it was just released this morning, when it came out last Friday.  It really reminds me of some creepy stalked infatuation.

Anyways I don’t think I can handle Morning Joe any longer. I am going to have to stomach the change and go back to CNN or maybe even FOX.

UPDATE

So I decide to switch on CNN and guess what they are talking about? The Rumsfeld memos. Get that Joe – there is other news out there. Perhaps someone from MSNBC will read this and tell Scarborough to start covering other stuff or find a new job. Even FOX can get off of a single story every once in awhile.

California Supreme Court Throws Out Non-Compete Clauses

Posted 8/8/08 at 1:51pm by jamie

I have always hated those things. These are the "contracts" you sign when you start a new job stating you won't go to work for a competitor. Well California's Supreme Court has just now ruled them null and void:

Californians have the right to move from one company to another or start their own business and can't be prohibited by their employer from working for a competitor in their next job, the state Supreme Court ruled Thursday.

In a unanimous decision, the justices said state law since 1872 has forbidden what are called noncompete clauses that restrict management employees' options after they leave a company.

In my opinion these things should be made illegal nationally. It's corporate America's way of monopolizing individuals, and something that tries to limit individuals from gaining new employment. In essence, it's as far from being part of capitalism as you can get.

Novakula Attacks!

He is going after the spend happy Republicans.

When House Republicans convene behind closed doors today at the Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., they have a chance to make two bold moves to restore their reputation for fiscal responsibility. First, they could declare a one-year moratorium on Republican congressional earmarks. Second, they could name earmark reformer Rep. Jeff Flake to a vacancy on the House Appropriations Committee. In fact, they almost surely will do neither.

Instead, during the retreat Republicans are likely to adopt some limitation on earmarks that will have no public impact and will exert no pressure on the earmark-happy Democratic majority. Consideration of Flake's candidacy for Appropriations was postponed until after this week's earmark debate at the Greenbrier. But, content with a half-measure on earmarks, the House Republicans are unlikely to place Flake, an insistent reformer, in the midst of the pork-dispensing appropriators.

What About Blackwell?

Posted 11/10/06 at 3:22pm by jamie

There is a lot of talk going on right now about Michael Steele and what his future holds. There has been talk of him joining Bush's cabinet and even talk that he might replace Ken Mehlman.

With all that speculation, there seems to be something missing. We have another out of work politician that has been loved by the Bush family. What about Ken Blackwell? Blackwell served in Bush 41's administration and is unemployed come first of the year.

Considering all the troubles going on with HUD right now and their secretary, I am wondering if this will become the new job from Blackwell. He did serve as under-secretary for HUD from 1989-1990. True Bush could really scare us and end up appointing him to succeed John Bolton. Blackwell also has experience at the UN, serving as our ambassador to the Human Rights Commission from 1992-1993.

So will Bush come to the rescue of the man who gave him the Presidency in 2004? I am really expecting to see this.

Better White House Interviews 101

Posted 4/20/06 at 3:18am by jamie

Tony Snow is really pushing for that new job and he started last night with this little but on O'Reilly (thanks to Think Progress):

O’REILLY: Prices have doubled in the USA and continue to go up. What say you sir?

SNOW: Well, this is where you get to call me a pinhead again, Bill. You’re absolutely right, supplies are high. But a couple of different things going on.

Different types of oil that are in supply. Oil refining costs have gone up a little bit. But let’s be real about this: 60 percent of the price of a gallon of gasoline right now is crude oil prices. Crude oil over $70 a gallon right now. That gets written into the price. Why is that per gallon crude oil price so high? Because people are jittery.

You’ve got a guy in Iran saying we’re going to build a nuclear weapon. You’ve got people complaining about Donald Rumsfeld and the Pentagon. There are jitters about the stability of the Middle East. Those subside and a number of people say this, analysts in the industry, the price goes down again

(video available at Think Progress)

Wow Tony. I thought your little piece on Storm Front was bad but this really shows how ignorant you are. Let me use this logic (or illogic) view for a minute. Maybe gas prices are high because people are fearing that Iran will get a nuclear weapon and they have seen what a bungled job Rummy and Bush have done with Iraq.

Seeing how Tony Snow thinks, he should be a welcomed sock puppet in Bush's inner circle. He will say whatever it takes to make Bush look good. Well I guess working at Fox gave him a good start for that. Hell - Fox is already the administrations own press corps, might as well use them even more.

Finger Pointing Begins

Posted 9/28/05 at 1:26am by jamie

The finger pointing has begun and today Michael Brown pointed it right at the
Louisiana officials. This should come as no shock as he is out to protect his
new job as FEMA's consultant into what went wrong.

An interesting turn of events if being reported on

Capital Buzz
, which is reporting that Brown may have lied today under oath
about his previous employers.

Great Scat
has received a letter that John Conyers authored about the
possible perjury committed by Michael Brown.

It is starting to appear that Congress may be more interested in saving
political allies instead of uncovering the truth about the failures that
occurred in the wake of Katrina. If this is allowed to happen then every citizen
in this country will fall victim to the most blatant partisan game ever played.

Michael Browns New Job

Posted 9/21/05 at 4:56pm by jamie

US News and World Report is running a small poll to see what readers feel
Michael Brown's new job should be. It is kind of a funny little poll which is
why I mentioned it here. The options are

  • Lobbyist for waste management
  •  New Orleans street cleaner
  • Publicist for The National Enquirer

So far the position of New Orleans street cleaner is the clear winner with
80% choosing that option.

Perhaps this is a new career path for Michael Brown considering every other
job he has had in his life he essentially lost. This would be a job with limited
responsibility and require very little judgment. Would he survive walking the
streets of New Orleans would be the big question.

George Bush's New Job - Weatherman

Posted 6/10/05 at 5:51pm by jamie

Why should George Bush look into a job as a weather man? Well he has a knack
for dealing with the public, but most importantly, he is wrong more than right.

We all know by now that in the months leading up to September 11, the
President received intelligence that Osama was planning on attacking. Some
intelligence even suggested the use of airplanes as a weapon. But yet our leader
failed to act upon this, and dismissed these reports.

Fast forward a few months. George Bush receives intelligence that Saddam has
restarted his WMD programs, and tends to use it against the United States.
George now feels to even tell the people of the country and the world about
this. Furthermore he feels the need to go to war because of these reports.

So what is the problem here. Simple. The first reports turned out to be true
and over 3,000 people lost their lives because of our President's failure to
respond. The second reports turn out to be false, and lead to over 1700 of our
soldiers dying.

So our great President is batting 0 for 2 on interpreting intelligence
reports, and we have lost over 5,000 lives because of it. This is a terrible
track record and cries for regime change here at home. I put some of the blood
of all those lives lost on the hands of our President. He has failed, and failed
miserably. He could of saved all these lives but instead acted on what he felt
would be better for him and his financial interests and allowed all these poor
people to die.

If you ask me George Bush is nothing more than a cold hearted killer.
Even more cold heated than the BK killer or Jeffrey Dahmer. Those people acted
on a sick lust for death. George acted on greed. Those mass killers performed
the acts themselves to satisfy their needs. George let others commit the acts
because he is to scared to do his own dirty work.
