Another Breitbart "Vetting" Piece Unleashed

Posted 3/19/12 at 10:57am by jamie

Andrew Breitbart is doing his vetting of the Obama administration beyond the grave and this time they have gone after Eric Holder:

Breitbart.com has uncovered video from 1995 of then-U.S. Attorney Eric Holder announcing a public campaign to "really brainwash people into thinking about guns in a vastly different way."

Holder was addressing the Woman's National Democratic Club. In his remarks, broadcast by CSPAN 2, he explained that he intended to use anti-smoking campaigns as his model to "change the hearts and minds of people in Washington, DC" about guns.

"What we need to do is change the way in which people think about guns, especially young people, and make it something that's not cool, that it's not acceptable, it's not hip to carry a gun anymore, in the way in which we changed our attitudes about cigarettes."

This is another nuclear bomb being dropped by the right. How dare the future Attorney General say guns aren't cool! I mean going into schools and shooting students, shooting members of Congress and fellow workers - how much cooler can you get?

Of course the right has been pushing this lie since Obama became the nominee that he will take away everyone's guns. Funny that guns are still selling and people still have them. Even funnier is that the President hasn't proposed anything to limit those rights. Just more conspiracy theories being pushed by the biggest bunch of conspiracy theorists in the country - the Republican Party.

Time To End The Separation Clause?

Posted 2/15/12 at 3:02pm by jamie

Over the past several years we have seen churches throwing themselves more into the political landscape. Today we see it even more:

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Wednesday that she didn’t consult with the Catholic bishops on the latest version of the contraceptive coverage rule.

At a Senate Finance Committee hearing on the Obama administration’s budget request, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) pressed Sebelius on which constituencies the administration consulted before announcing its changes to the contraception rule.

“I did not speak with the Catholic bishops,” Sebelius told Hatch. “I know that the president has spoken to the bishops on several occasions, yes.”

The church views the separation clause as one way; the state can't tell the church what to do, but the church can tell the state what to do. This is not how our founding fathers envisioned it and is a very real danger to our democracy. Actually, if you think about it, it's bringing us closer to the same type of tyranny that the pilgrims fled England from all those centuries ago.

So I say it's time to remove that whole clause and make the church play by the same rules as everyone else. They have already pushed the envelope for too long and it's time for a change.

Big Government Fears At Near Record Levels

Posted 12/13/11 at 8:16am by jamie

Gallup has a new poll out showing Americans fear big government more than anything else. Here's the results:

Needless to say this poll is making its rounds on the right, but I would like to see a further breakdown of this poll, asking what fears.

It's no secret that many people don't know what laws and policies are passed until it affects them. Take the TSA body scanners. Most people believe that this is something instituted by President Obama. Little do they know this was a policy pushed through by the Bush Administration and former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, who profited big time from the plan.

Or how about recent news of drones being used for law enforcement here in the U.S.? Again, this was something pushed through under the Bush administration, but also continued by the Obama administration.
