EXCLUSIVE: Mitt Romney Behind Anti-Islam Movie

Posted 9/13/12 at 2:37pm by jamie

Mitt Romney was looking for a reason to attack Barack Obama on the grounds of foreign policy. He knew that after the killing of Osama bin Laden and the ending of the war in Iraq that he needed a silver bullet, and he now got it.

It turns out that Mitt Romney was behind the anti-Islam movie that has sparked the uprising in the Middle East. He played his cards and did so with great prestige. The film sparked the outrage that Romney was looking for and the results couldn't be better. He even showed that during his press conference yesterday:

That was Mitt smirking yesterday after blaming Obama for the problems in the Middle East.

So how credible is this information?

Well it isn't. See I have decided to play the conspiracy theory game that the right loves engaging in. Take Republican leader, Rush Limbaugh, yesterday, when he said this:

What if Ayman al-Zawahiri gave up Osama bin Laden for the express purpose of making Obama look good? Giving Obama stature, political capital?”

The justification would be so that Obama can help further the cause of al Qaeda. Media Matters has the audio available to hear for yourself.

But I'm just a little blog. I don't get much traffic or have much influence, unlike Limbaugh. Limbaugh has a cult like following that would take this conspiracy and turn it into fact. Within days we can expect to see those pictures on Facebook making this claim as fact. The minions on the right will repeat it as gospel, believing it is fact. The problem is that it isn't, just like the story I posted above.

The Iran Assassination Bombing: What If We Did It?

Posted 1/11/12 at 3:01pm by jamie

Following up on my previous story about the Hollywood style assassination of an Iranian nuclear scientists, I have been thinking what it would mean if the U.S. actually was involved in it.

First off if we were involved in this bombing there is no way our government would admit it. It would create such a diplomatic nightmare for our country that we have no option but to deny it.

Now having said that, what if we were behind this attack? Well if we were then it shows a difference in policies between the current President and previous one. It would show that George Bush is a man more for a guns-a-blazing, costly war solution, where as Barack Obama is more into the covert, keep it simple and clean approach.

The Obama style approach is one we saw when it came to finally getting Osama bin Laden and when it came to the fall of Gadaffi. The Bush style approach is one we saw in action in Iraq for the past several years. Our country is still paying for that war and almost 4,500 U.S. soldiers paid the ultimate price for.

If I had to make the choice of which way to go, I would take the Obama style any day of the week. It's swift, clean and costs much less in terms of money and life. The other point to make here is that this style of approach may have set Iran's nuclear ambitions back a few years by simply killing one guy. It's not like you can go to Craig's List and just take out an ad for a nuclear scientists. They are hard to come by and now Iran needs to replace this one.

So if the U.S. was behind this assassination, I got to applaud our nation. We finally realized full blown war isn't the only answer to these type of problems. Of course that could change this time next year if President Obama is not given a second term. That's something to think about when heading to the polls this fall.

The Republican Spin Machine Kicks Into High Gear

Posted 12/14/11 at 9:36pm by jamie

The Republicans are having a hard time grabbing the national security stage. I mean when they have to look at facing President Obama next year, the man who got Osama Bin Laden, they really don't have much to go on.

So what is a poor Republican candidate to do? Make shit up!

Republican presidential candidates have claimed that the Obama administration is cleansing government files of references to radical Islam, an assertion so juicy that politicians keep repeating it — even though it's a wild exaggeration.

The latest to run with the story is former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, who told a crowd in Des Moines that the president "actually ordered all references to Islam and Muslim sanitized out of our national security documents."

And over the weekend, Newt Gingrich told a veterans' forum in Des Moines that the administration has "issued instructions, for example, that in developing training papers on terrorism that no mention should be made of radical Islam."

Rep. Michele Bachmann paved the way on Oct. 28, when she told 75 Republican faithful in Iowa that "Obama is allowing terror suspect groups to write the FBI's terror training manual."

It turns out that all this came from an incident in 2009 when someone from the FBI gave a speech that drew a lot of criticism from the Muslim community. An order to review training material was given and some is being rewritten, but not by "terrorist" groups as Bachmann claimed. Instead it's being taken care of by a couple FBI agents and three outside experts from terrorist organizations such as Yale University and Johns Hopkins.

Of course facts are pesky things, as another famous Republican once said (**cough** Ronald Reagan) and Bachmann still believes that Barack Obama started the Iraq War.

Helping Our Enemies In The Financial Jihad

Posted 5/23/11 at 8:55am by jamie

One of the long known goals of Osama bin Laden was to financially break the United States:

A key facet of bin Laden's anti-American warfare has always been economic. It's a lesson he drew from the Afghan-Soviet war, in which he first served as a financier of mujahidin efforts and then as a fighter. He watched the Soviet Union withdraw from Afghanistan in defeat and then dissolve altogether in 1991. Bin Laden asserted on multiple occasions that the mujahidin were responsible for destroying the Soviet empire. Whether or not he's right, he clearly believed that the high costs imposed by the Afghan-Soviet war prevented the Soviet Union from adapting to other challenges, such as grain shortages and a collapse in world oil prices.

When you consider the hundreds of billions we spend every year in defense, including a large chunk of money just for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and couple that with our dwindling economy, we can see this is one goal he might achieve, though he didn't live to see it.

Thinking of that makes stories like this all the more infuriating:

Hard-charging Republicans who rallied voters last year with cries of "Stop the spending, ban the earmarks" are quietly offering a more familiar Washington refrain now they're in Congress – not in my backyard.

The Revenge Starts

Posted 5/13/11 at 9:05am by jamie

Al Qaeda has vowed revenge for the killing of Osama bin Laden and it looks like they are making good on it:

Pakistan's Taliban on Friday claimed their first major attack to avenge Osama bin Laden's death as 80 people were killed in a double suicide bombing on a paramilitary police training centre.

Around 140 people were wounded, 40 of them fighting for their lives, in the deadliest attack this year in the nuclear-armed country where the government is deep in crisis over the killing of the Al-Qaeda chief by US forces on May 2.

In the fallout over the unilateral raid and in another sign of damaged ties with wary ally Washington, an official said Pakistan's senior military officer General Khalid Shameem Wynne had cancelled a visit to the United States.

We knew this was coming and if anything the death of Osama could spark a lot bigger and more vengeful attacks than we have scene before. This is the reason that the Afghanistan war is far from over.

House Republicans Refuse To Vote On Resolution Honoring The Seals Who Killed Bin Laden

Posted 5/5/11 at 11:27am by jamie

The measure already passed the Senate by a 97-0 vote and wouldn’t take much time to pass on the House floor either:

House Republicans say they have no plans to follow the Senate in passing a resolution honoring the military mission that killed Osama bin Laden.

The decision by GOP leaders follows new rules they enacted in January scrapping the tradition of congratulatory measures, which they complained clogged up the House floor.

The Senate on Tuesday passed a resolution, 97-0, commending “the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and the United States intelligence community for the tremendous commitment, perseverance, professionalism and sacrifice they displayed in bringing Osama bin Laden to justice.” The measure commended President Obama and reaffirmed the Senate’s commitment “to disrupting, dismantling and defeating al Qaeda.” It also recognized former President George W. Bush’s efforts after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

The lack of House action drew criticism from some Democrats, who said an exception to the new rules was more than warranted for the killing of America’s No. 1 enemy.

Republicans had no problems a couple of years ago pushing a resolution to recognize “the importance of Christmas and the Christian faith”, shouldn’t the brave men and women who were in harms way deserve the same amount of attention? I guess not, especially since John Boehner considers every lost soldier a “small price to pay”. Absolutely disgusting.

Sarah Palin–Still Wrong On National Security

Posted 5/4/11 at 3:39pm by jamie

With the news that the Obama administration won’t release the images of a dead Osama bin Laden, Sarah Palin once again takes to the Twitter to prove she is totally wrong on national security:

So why is this the wrong thing to do? Well let’s ask the Republican chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Mike Rogers:

"The risks of release outweigh the benefits," Rogers said. "Conspiracy theorists around the world will just claim the photos are doctored anyway, and there is a real risk that releasing the photos will only serve to inflame public opinion in the Middle East."

"Imagine how the American people would react if Al Qaeda killed one of our troops or military leaders, and put photos of the body on the Internet," Rogers continued. "Osama bin Laden is not a trophy - he is dead and let's now focus on continuing the fight until Al Qaeda has been eliminated."

Spot on! The images would turn into propaganda that in turn will help make Osama more of a martyr to the extremists. How does trying to build unity amongst al Qaeda and other terrorists help our cause? It doesn’t, but for Sarah Palin, that just doesn’t make sense.

FLASHBACK: In 2008 John McCain Blasted Obama For Saying He Would Hunt Osama Into Pakistan

Posted 5/2/11 at 1:21pm by jamie

There is so much spin and rewriting of history this morning that my head is ready to explode. I think it’s time for a quick refresher on what lead us up to this victorious point today, including how the Republican presidential candidate in 2008 went after then candidate Obama when it came of Osama bin Laden.

The following is from the transcript of the October 7, 2008 debate between John McCain and Barack Obama in Nashville.

QUESTION: Should the United States respect Pakistani sovereignty and not pursue al Qaeda terrorists who maintain bases there, or should we ignore their borders and pursue our enemies like we did in Cambodia during the Vietnam War?

OBAMA: [snip]

But I do believe that we have to change our policies with Pakistan. We can't coddle, as we did, a dictator, give him billions of dollars and then he's making peace treaties with the Taliban and militants.

What I've said is we're going to encourage democracy in Pakistan, expand our nonmilitary aid to Pakistan so that they have more of a stake in working with us, but insisting that they go after these militants.

And if we have Osama bin Laden in our sights and the Pakistani government is unable or unwilling to take them out, then I think that we have to act and we will take them out. We will kill bin Laden; we will crush Al Qaida. That has to be our biggest national security priority.

The response John McCain gave to this was:

MCCAIN: You know, my hero is a guy named Teddy Roosevelt. Teddy Roosevelt used to say walk softly -- talk softly, but carry a big stick. Senator Obama likes to talk loudly.

In fact, he said he wants to announce that he's going to attack Pakistan. Remarkable.

Not Bush’s War

Posted 2/16/10 at 8:08am by jamie

When you ignore Afghanistan for 7 years then you never get stories like this:

The Taliban’s top military commander was captured several days ago in Karachi, Pakistan, in a secret joint operation by Pakistani and American intelligence forces, according to American government officials.

The commander, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, is an Afghan described by American officials as the most significant Taliban figure to be detained since the American-led war in Afghanistan started more than eight years ago. He ranks second in influence only to Mullah Muhammad Omar, the Taliban’s founder and a close associate of Osama bin Laden before the Sept. 11 attacks.

Mullah Baradar has been in Pakistani custody for several days, with American and Pakistani intelligence officials both taking part in interrogations, according to the officials.

This is a great accomplishment for the military and administration, but for some reason I feel Dick Cheney will consider it a major failure.

Rush’s Plan To Make America Fail?

Posted 6/9/09 at 8:09am by jamie

There has been all this talk from the fat of how he wants “Obama to fail”. Well now that the government has such a large stake in General Motors, the fat one is calling for a boycott of General Motors. Bob points out the irony here:

Just a couple of weeks ago, the wingnuts were crapping their cages over the fact that a suspiciously high number of soon-to-be closed GM dealerships were owned by Republicans. The "conspiracy" that President Obama was taking out some political revenge on McCain supporters made it all the way to Fox News Channel. It turned out that the political party affiliation of dealership owners was merely reflective of the fact that 86 percent of all car dealerships are owned by Republicans.

And now they want to boycott GM, a move that will surely hurt all the dealerships.

To the educated this can only be seen as a flip-flop, as John Cole points out:

These idiots can’t even keep an internally consistent wingnut meme going for a couple weeks. No wonder the rest of the country has no clue what the hell they are talking about.

To me it takes me back to my original point. This is Rush’s plan to try and get our government to fail. And you thought that was talk you would only hear from people like Osama bin Laden, Kim Jong-il or Ahmadinejad.

Wingnuts Explode!

Posted 2/9/09 at 8:40pm by jamie

Oh and they are. They hate this press conference. Let’s look at the wingnut queen Michelle Malkin:

Update 8:05pm Eastern. President Obama. “It is only government that can break the vicious cycle.”

Jobs, jobs, jobs. Investment, investment, investment.

Gag. President Obama claims to be acting on behalf of my children and grandchildren.

So talking stimulus shouldn’t mean jobs and investment? Really? This bitch is whack. We are losing jobs left and right, but how dare the President talk about trying to create jobs!.

Then she goes into this little tirade:

Update 8:13pm Eastern. Obama dissing those who have criticized FDR’s growth-stifling interventions. Attempts to shut down and whitewash the economic dissenters. It’s the Obama way.

Hmmm did I miss him calling them terrorists lovers or unpatriotic? Oh no – that’s what Republicans did every time someone disagreed with Bush.

Like I said the other day, if people like Malkin don’t like the country now they can get the hell out. They told us that for the past eight years, so now it’s time to return the favor. Osama bin Laden loves seeing the American economy fail, along with Malkin. Why does she support the terrorists so much?

Will McCain Share Now?

Posted 12/7/08 at 9:52am by jamie

John McCain McCain is back to being a Senator and offering advice on Afghanistan:

Sen. John McCain says the situation in Afghanistan will get more difficult before it gets easier — "just like the surge in Iraq was."

The former Republican presidential candidate visited the southern province of Helmand on Sunday, where he said NATO forces are at a stalemate with insurgents. McCain says the U.S. will be paying more attention to that part of the country with an influx of troops.

Throughout the campaign, McCain said if he was President he would capture Osama bin Laden – that he knew how to. A lot of people questioned rather he had some great plan to fulfill this promise that he decided to hold onto, instead of sharing with the current administration so that we could capture public enemy number one. Now that McCain has lost the election, and said he has no plans on running again, will he share his great knowledge with Obama, or was he just blowing a bunch of smoke up our asses?

Bin Laden's A Freedom FIghter?

Posted 9/27/08 at 5:11pm by jamie

Watch this clip from last night:

McCain: "We were able to help the Afghan freedom fighters
drive the Russians out of Afghanistan we washed our hands of the the region."

Those so called 'freedom fighters" were the Mujahideen, who were Muslim extremists recruited and trained by the U.S. to fight push Russia out of Afghanistan, but McCain is now calling them simply "freedom fighters". Yup - to John McCain Osama bin Laden is a "freedom fighter".
