When The Crazies Out Crazy The Crazies

Posted 9/7/09 at 2:52pm by jamie

I have heard a lot of support for President Obama’s speech to school children from a lot of unsuspecting allies on the right, but the latest is a real shocked. Newt Gingrich has tweeted:

Just read President Obamas speech to students.white House posted it. it is a good speech and will be good for students to hear

And followed up with:

Remember that Presidents Reagan and Bush also talked to students nationwide. As long as it is non political and pro education it is good.

When Newt Gingrich is starting to sound like the sane one on the right then the crazies are really taking over. This could easily be the start of a real bi-partisan issue – fighting back against the lunatics.

Adding…

Here is the text of the President’s speech (below the fold). It mostly focuses on personal responsibility. That is the socialistic message the lunatic fringe has been fearing. The don’t want the government doing anything for its citizens and they don’t want their children learning about personal reasonability. That right there is the perfect recipe for a disastrous future for our nation.

Distorting the Facts

Posted 7/2/09 at 11:24pm by jamie

There has been a lot of talk today about a WSJ article talking about the totally insane rise of overseas trips taken by members of Congress on the taxpayers dime. If you read Ed at Hot Air you can quickly see where the problem is:

Democrats ran on the Culture of Corruption charge in 2006 and gained control of both chambers of Congress on the promise to clean up Capitol Hill.  The Wall Street Journal finds instead that Democrats have used their power to spend taxpayer dollars on high-priced global travel.  Taxpayer-funded Congressional delegation travel has increased by 50% since the Democrats took charge:

Sounds like the Democrats are just wasting away all our money – doesn’t it? Even the WSJ alludes to this:

Hundreds of lawmakers traveled overseas in 2008 at a cost of about $13 million. That's a 50% jump since Democrats took control of Congress two years ago.

But that isn’t the worse part. Let’s look at the actual graph the WSJ supplied:SireP1-AQ538_EXTRAV_NS_20090701192413

Sure the Democrats have increased the spending by 50%, but what about the almost 600% it went up under Republican control? Ed doesn’t seem to mention that. He also seems to not notice any of the Republicans mentioned in the article, like:

I Guess Illegal Immigration Isn't That Bad

Posted 12/5/07 at 12:12am by jamie

So one of the big stories today is that Mitt Romney still uses illegal immigrants to do his lawn work. I guess the wingnuts will disown Romney now - won't they?

Let's ask Erick at Redstate:

The Boston Globe has decided to stake out the Romney house and harass contract workers on their citizenship status. I find it highly ironic that a media company opposed to restrictive immigration policies and racial profiling would stand outside someone's house and harass hispanic looking workers to find out if they are illegal aliens.

I actually give Governor Romney credit for giving the company involved a second chance. To be sure, I would not have publicly released the address and name of the company today as it just sets Romney up for a vendetta by the guy.

WHOA - what's that? It isn't bad that illegal immigrants did the work, but it is bad that it was reported? Now certainly Malkin is opposed to Romney doing this - isn't she?:

And while it’s bad for police to ask suspected criminal aliens their citizenship status, it’s fine and dandy for journalists to ask lawn workers whether they’re here illegally…if it will embarrass a Republican presidential candidate.

For the record, Romney should have cut ties with the company a long time ago. Dumb decision. He should be embarrassed.

Oh so she is also upset that this got reported, but at least she is a little mad at Romney. Of course that doesn't stop her from thinking this will turn into a partisan issue:

Walter Reed - A Failure of Leadership

Posted 2/21/07 at 2:39pm by jamie

A press conference today with the Army's top brass said that their is no lack of funds causing the problems at Walter Reed, but rather it was a "failure of leadership". This is something I had pointed out here , however the right-wing darling blogger, Michelle Malkin, decided to not talk about the actual "failure of leadership" and rather spin it into some partisan created problem, once again proving she has no credibility to her outrageous allegations.

For someone like Malkin, who constantly tries to flaunt her false support of the troops, to take a situation as serious as this and make it grounds for partisan bickering is appalling. She tried to say it was the left using it as a partisan issue, but I haven't seen where that occurred. So we called Bush on it. Isn't he the Commander in Chief? Even the White House is admitting failure in the military on this now, so is she calling the generals and White House liars? Instead of creating a faux partisan fight over this, why don't she work to get the problems addressed? I guess it goes down as further proof of her actual lack of support for our troops.

Countering the RNC's Karl Rove Defense

Posted 7/15/05 at 7:12am by jamie

This week the Republican National Committee's (RNC) chairman, Ken Mehlman,
put out a

"talking points"
memo to help discredit Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame while
showing support for Karl Rove's actions of disclosing a CIA operative's
identity. As soon as I read these I realized that the RNC was in fact putting
their old spin machine to work. There for, I have decided to take each point the
memo states and discredit that. Where they were available, I gave links to the
corresponding evidence in order to further prove my point. This is the result of
some hard work and investigation, but it was well worth it. I hope you enjoy it
and realize what you are hearing when you see some of the right out there trying
to defend Rove. As you read these you will notice they sound very familiar.
Further more you will see how the RNC is spinning the actual context of reports
and transcripts to make this into a partisan issue.

"[Time Reporter Matt] Cooper Wrote That Rove Offered Him A
'Big Warning' Not To 'Get Too Far Out On Wilson.' Rove Told Cooper That Wilson's
Trip Had Not Been Authorized By 'DCIA' - CIA Director George Tenet - Or Vice
President Dick Cheney." (Michael Isikoff, "Matt Cooper's Source," Newsweek,
7/18/05)

That is true and that is what was written in the article. This was apparently
put in to provide more of an introduction than an attack against Wilson.

Wilson Falsely Claimed That It Was Vice President Cheney
Who Sent Him To Niger, But The Vice President Has Said He Never Met Him And
Didn't Know Who Sent Him:
