While The World Ponders Hillary's Comment

John McCain gets another pass from some really bad news:

A Tuesday fundraiser headlined by President Bush for U.S. Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign is being moved out of the Phoenix Convention Center.

Sources familiar with the situation said the Bush-McCain event was not selling enough tickets to fill the Convention Center space, and that there were concerns about more anti-war protesters showing up outside the venue than attending the fundraiser inside.

Got that? A fundraiser in McCain's home state can't even sell out. I would love if the media could report on this some and let the whole Hillary thing die.

Did Condi Break The Law In 2004?

That's what the FBI is wondering:

FBI agents investigating government watchdog Scott Bloch have subpoenaed any records that would reveal whether concerns about the 2004 elections prompted him to clear Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice of ethics violations.

Bloch, the U.S. special counsel who investigates federal employee whistleblower complaints, found no merit to allegations that Rice, then President Bush's national security adviser, timed some of her trips to boost Bush's 2004 reelection campaign.

The FBI is investigating whether Bloch obstructed justice by destroying computer files to hinder an outside inquiry into allegations that he retaliated against employees who opposed his policies. He's also suspected of making false statements to investigators.

Please let McCain pick her for VP. Please!

"Come On"

That's how our great leader described the future of the economy today:

President Bush said Friday the slow growth of the economy is "not good enough for America," but new rebate checks will inject some life soon.

"This economy is going to come on," Bush said. "I'm confident it will."

Yeah those checks are going to help so much. I might buy a new house , or even a new car. Hey! How about a luxury European trip?

Liar, Liar

Bush yesterday:

President Bush, saying that "normalcy is returning back to Iraq," argued Thursday that last year's U.S. troop "surge" has improved Iraq's security to the point where political and economic progress are blossoming as well.

Yeah because Americans are so stupid and don't see the news, like:

That's Bush's normalcy for you. All from the past 24 hours. Why don't he head on over there and take a stroll down the street and let us know how it goes?

A Shining Example Of Delusional

George Bush yesterday:

President Bush predicted Monday that voters will replace him with a Republican president who will "keep up the fight" in Iraq. "I'm confident we'll hold the White House in 2008," Bush told donors at the Republican Governors Association annual dinner, which raised a record $10.6 million for GOP gubernatorial candidates.

"And I don't want the next Republican president to be lonely," Bush said. "And that is why we got to take the House, retake the Senate, and make sure our states are governed by Republican governors."

This is great news for Democrats. We know have Bush's other predictions have gone in the past.

This Is Democracy?

The people in Pakistan elected a new leader, but Bush is trying to pressure the country into keeping Musharraf in power:

The Bush administration is pressing the opposition leaders who defeated Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf to allow the former general to retain his position, a move that Western diplomats and U.S. officials say could trigger the very turmoil the United States seeks to avoid.

U.S. officials, from President Bush on down, said this week that they think Musharraf, a longtime U.S. ally, should continue to play a role, despite his party's rout in parliamentary elections Monday and his unpopularity in the volatile, nuclear-armed nation.

The U.S. is urging the Pakistani political leaders who won the elections to form a new government quickly and not press to reinstate the judges whom Musharraf ousted last year, Western diplomats and U.S. officials said Wednesday. If reinstated, the jurists likely would try to remove Musharraf from office.

Bush's policy of hanging on to Musharraf has caused friction between the White House and the State Department , with some career diplomats and other specialists arguing that the administration is trying to buck the political tides in Pakistan , U.S. officials said.

We saw this same move by Bush in Iraq a few years ago also. His idea of democracy is that he picks the leader. Is it any wonder why they hate us so much?

Why Helen Thomas Is Great

Because she gets it:

If Americans want to continue the Iraq war, then Sen. John McCain -- the apparent Republican presidential candidate and relentless hawk -- is their man.

It seems McCain was not kidding when he said the U.S. might have to remain in Iraq for 100 years. At a town meeting in New Hampshire, McCain was told that President Bush had indicated the possibility of U.S. forces staying in Iraq for 50 years.

Did He Lie Or Is He No Help?

Posted 2/15/08 at 2:59pm by jamie

Yesterday:

I am scheduled to leave tomorrow for a long-planned trip to five African nations. Moments ago, my staff informed the House leadership that I'm prepared to delay my departure, and stay in Washington with them, if it will help them complete their work on this critical bill.

(emphasis added)

Today:

President Bush leaves Washington tonight on a six-day trip to Africa. It's his second tour of the continent since becoming president and he intends to use it to underscore how the U.S. is helping Africa achieve progress against war, disease and poverty.

So is he of no help (ie: not significant), or did he lie again?

Bush Is Having Another Temper Tantrum

Because Senate won't confirm all the people he wants. What this Washington Post article fails to mention is that a lot of them are held up because Bush wants one key person confirmed. There is a little mention of that person:

Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) chastised Bush for sticking with nominees who have no chance of confirmation. One example is Steven G. Bradbury, whose nomination as assistant attorney general is opposed by many senators because he signed memos authorizing especially harsh interrogation techniques on terrorism suspects.

Reid offered in December to confirm dozens of nominees if Bush would agree not to install Bradbury with a recess appointment, but the president refused. Reid cleared 84 confirmations anyway. "President Bush has instead pursued his my-way-or-the-highway, all-or-nothing approach," Reid said in a statement. "As a result, many of these nominations -- Democrat and Republican -- have stalled, putting a number of agencies in jeopardy."

Bradbury is an extremist - period. During his confirmation hearing he told Patrick Leahy; "The President is always right". Really? I guess that means they can't use Monica against Clinton, because "the President is always right". No he isn't, and this is the perfect example why this man should not be confirmed.

Don't be mislead by articles like this. It isn't Congress blocking the nominees, it's Bush blocking them because he wants one constitution hating extremist to be confirmed. Perhaps Reid should get really nasty and fight back saying he won't schedule any confirmation hearings and will keep Senate in session straight through to 1/20/09. Let's see how that goes.

Republican Compassion Deals Another Blow

Posted 2/6/08 at 7:05pm by jamie

So much compassion that they filibuster helping out our vets, elderly and poor:

Senate Republicans blocked a move by Democrats on Wednesday to add more than $40 billion in checks for the elderly, disabled veterans and the unemployed to a bill to stimulate the economy.

The 58-41 vote fell just short of the 60 required to break a GOP filibuster and bring the Senate version of the stimulus bill closer to a final vote. The Senate measure was backed by Democrats and a handful of Republicans but was strongly opposed by GOP leaders and President Bush, who objected to the costly add-ons.

What compassion!

Bush Loses Another One

And the dolphins win one:

President Bush cannot exempt the Navy from environmental laws banning sonar training that opponents argue harms whales, a federal judge ruled Monday.

Navy officials did not immediately respond to the ruling by U.S. District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper. Mark Matsunaga, spokesman for the Navy's Pacific Fleet, headquartered in Hawaii, said officials needed time to review it before commenting.

The president signed a waiver Jan. 15 exempting the Navy and its anti-submarine warfare exercises from a preliminary injunction creating a 12 nautical-mile no-sonar zone off Southern California. The Navy's attorneys argued in court last week that he was within his legal rights.

Imagine that - saying the President can't ignore laws nilly willy. Sounds like some sort of activist judge to me.

Contractors Waste Your Money

Posted 2/4/08 at 4:30pm by jamie

And Bush loves it:

Lawmakers say they will push ahead with a presidential commission designed to root out waste and fraud in military contracts despite President Bush's concerns that it could usurp his authority.

Bush signed into law on Monday a wide-ranging defense bill that includes instructions to create a commission to investigate defense contracts in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is modeled after a similar commission that was headed by Harry Truman in the 1940s to uncover abuse in military contracts during World War II.

Along with his signature, Bush singled out the commission and three other provisions that could "purport to impose requirements that could inhibit the president's ability to carry out his constitutional obligations."

For the past several years people have argued for a Truman style commission to investigate these contractors. Now we finally get a law passed in accordance with the Constitution and Bush says "nope". I am so Glad Nancy Pelosi loves Bush so much and won't do anything about him. Her and Harry are just what this democracy fascist state needs.

The GOP Candidates Embraced Bush Wednesday Night

Posted 2/2/08 at 9:02am by jamie

When asked about the economy, none of them (well except Ron Paul) would give Bush any blame for the economy. The spin machine was in full force trying to blame everyone else, but the person who voters traditionally blame. With the news of 17,000 jobs lost yesterday, that could really end up hurting the eventual GOP nominee:

For Republicans already facing an economic headwind, the jobs numbers could prove punishing. Traditionally, the party holding the White House is blamed for bad economic times -- and credited for booms -- and economists said yesterday that this year should be no different, even if GOP candidates continue to distance themselves from President Bush.
