FOX News Had Another “Error”

Posted 2/23/11 at 12:07pm by jamie

The propaganda station is at their usual old tactics in swaying public opinion:

On the February 23 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends, co-host Brian Kilmeade brought on a panel of guests to discuss the ongoing protests in Wisconsin, sparked by Gov. Scott Walker's proposal to cut benefits and eliminate most collective bargaining rights for some public employees. While talking to Democratic strategist Robert Zimmerman, Kilmeade discussed the results of a recent USA Today/Gallup poll to falsely claim that "61 percent" of those polled are "in favor of taking [collective bargaining rights] away."

The poll Kilmeade is talking about is here, complete with this graphic:

Great Idea Rupert!

Posted 7/20/10 at 8:54am by jamie

Rupert Murdoch is a genius. Genius I tell ya!

The Times has lost almost 90% of its online readership compared to February since making registration mandatory in June, calculations by the Guardian show.

Unregistered users of thetimes.co.uk are now "bounced" to a Times+ membership page where they have to register if they want to view Times content. Data from the web metrics company Experian Hitwise shows that only 25.6% of such users sign up and proceed to a Times web page; based on custom categories (created at the Guardian) that have been used to track the performance of major UK press titles online, visits to the Times site have fallen to 4.16% of UK quality press online traffic, compared with 15% before it made registration compulsory on 15 June

I just can’t wait until he decides to do this with Fox News. I also think he should expand this idea to the broadcast Fox News. People will pay for the news, so why not make his channel like a pay-per-view. You want to see O’Reilly? Fine, it’s $3.95. Same for all his other shows. Just think of all the money Rupert will make!

Now think of how much better of a place America would be if we didn’t have his propaganda filled smut filling our airwaves or intertubes.

Please do it Rupert. Do it for America!

Cheney Accuses Obama Of ‘Dithering’

Posted 10/22/09 at 8:43am by jamie

OK this is beyond priceless:

Former Vice President Dick Cheney on Wednesday night accused the White House of dithering over the strategy for the war in Afghanistan and urged President Barack Obama to "do what it takes to win."

"Make no mistake. Signals of indecision out of Washington hurt our allies and embolden our adversaries," Cheney said while accepting an award from a conservative national security group, the Center for Security Policy.

And how long did Bush “dither” when it came to Iraq? Which administration pulled Afghanistan from the brink of victory and plunged us back to a situation worse than when the war first started?

Those are serious questions that have very serious, yet obvious answers. There is even a more important question though – why is Cheney out there saying this? Doesn’t he know that this destroys the morale of our troops and becomes propaganda for our enemies? I mean if this was pre-Obama that’s exactly what Cheney would be saying if someone on the left said this exact same thing. As matter of fact that’s exactly what they did numerous times.

So the final question – why does Dick Cheney hate America and our troops?

When Did Medicare Become Available To All?

Posted 9/2/09 at 10:35am by jamie

Maria Bartiromo apparently believes that Medicare is available to all citizens, not just those over 65.

Again we allow media types to help promote the lies of the health care debate. True Maria was one of those “economic minds” on CNBC talking about how great the economy was doing while it was crumbling before our eyes last fall. She’s nothing but another fraud on a network that puts propaganda above actual news.

What An Apology!

Posted 2/20/09 at 8:56am by jamie

The NYPost issued an “apology” for their cartoon that sparked off the protests and debate this week. I put apology in quotes, because it really isn’t that much of an apology, but rather an issue of “if you don’t like it and you didn’t really complain then we are sorry”.

{[}]lt;p>I wonder how the NYPost would respond if the NYTimes published a cartoon depicting Murdoch being shot? That would be a fun experiment to conduct, but I think the NYTimes holds themselves to a much higher standard than a Murdoch propaganda company.

Scarborough Turns Further To The Right

Posted 2/2/09 at 1:22pm by jamie

I was watching Morning Joe this morning and in utter amazement at the dialogue going on. For a moment I thought FOX had taken over the show. Here’s a clip caught by Think Progress:

As Think Progress points out:

What’s more, as Center for American Progress Action Fund President John Podesta pointed out to Scarborough minutes later, these tax cuts were something that “Barack Obama campaigned on all year long” — and he encountered the exact same fearmongering accusations of “socialism” from conservatives. If Americans didn’t support Obama’s tax plan, they wouldn’t have voted for him.

Yup – this country voted for Socialism by the Republican’s very definition. If they don’t like it then they can find a new place to call home, but that is what America wants, so Scarborough needs to get over himself.

But the fact is Scarborough and Buchanan both said they didn’t want help for the lower and middle class, but would rather have tax-cuts to the corporations. Again – screw us, but save them.

Scam Artists Westgate Resorts Get Hit With $1.2 Million Fine

Posted 1/28/09 at 12:49pm by jamie

Couldn’t happen to a better bunch of pricks:

One of the nation's largest time-share companies is going to be shelling out nearly a $1 million for making phone calls to people on the national "Do Not Call" list, federal regulators said Tuesday.

Westgate Resorts, based in Orlando, Fla., was named in a complaint filed on behalf of the Federal Trade Commission. The agency alleged that Westgate and two other companies placed thousands of telemarketing calls to people on the list. The FTC says Westgate has agreed to pay $900,000 to settle the charges.

For anyone who has ever been sucked into one of their propaganda filled sales presentations, this should make you smile.

Richard Clarke On That New al Qaeda Tape

Posted 11/19/08 at 9:28pm by jamie

080402_clarke This makes such perfect sense:

"Obama's election has taken the wind out of al Qaeda's sails in much of the Islamic world because it demonstrates America's renewed commitment to multiculturalism, human rights, and international law. It also proves to many that democracy can work and overcome ethnic, sectarian, or racial barriers.

"Obama's commitment to withdraw from Iraq also takes away an al Qaeda propaganda tenet: that the U.S. seeks to occupy oil rich Arab lands. His commitment to defeat al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan also challenges their plans. Most of all, by returning to American values the world admires, Obama sets al Qaeda back enormously in the battle of ideas, the ideological struggle which determines whether al Qaeda will continue to have significant support in the Islamic world."

-Richard Clarke

Al Qaeda now has to face a United States with a President who is highly respected around the world. This puts a serious damper on their PR tactics. Yes – this is change you can believe in.

Babygate

Posted 9/1/08 at 10:47am by jamie

The wingnuts are going nookular over Andrew Sullivan raising the questions of Palin's baby actually being hers. Wow - how dare people raise issues about a candidates personal life? That would be like the right pushing some smear that Obama is a Muslim.

Oh wait a minute..

That's exactly what the right did. For over a year now they have pushed this whole "Obama is a Muslim" meme. Even the mouth pieces like FOX News and Rush Limbaugh have continued pushing this propaganda. Now that it's happening to someone on their side they start crying foul. Hey - mommy said you made your bed, now lay in it.

I really don't think the rumors are true, and thing the story of Palin's piss-poor judgment in staying in Texas to deliver a speech then flying back while in labor with a child that had known special needs is much more scandalous than baby gate, but if the entire "Obama is a Muslim" smear has taught us anything, getting the idea out there is 90% of the battle. That's now being accomplished, and there will be some that wonder on Election Day "is she really the baby's mother, or do we have another White House scandal brewing if she is elected?" This is nothing more than the shoe being on the other foot, and the Republicans can't handle it. Oh well - just get over it.

Felon McCain?

Posted 8/14/08 at 11:24am by jamie

The Wall Street Journal published this little gem:

The Logan Act makes it a felony and provides for a prison sentence of up to three years for any American, "without authority of the United States," to communicate with a foreign government in an effort to influence that government's behavior on any "disputes or controversies with the United States."

Of course when they published it, they were talking about Nancy Pelosi going to Syria. Why isn't the WSJ raising the same legal concerns about John McCain? He has sent a "delegation" there and been talking to the Georgian President on a daily basis. Instead the WSJ decides to give McCain a platform to further promote his propaganda.

Last I checked the Speaker of the House was higher up the chain of command than a Senator from Arizona, or did Bush executive order out that part of the Constitution also?

Can FOX Still Consider Rove A Political Analyst?

Posted 7/3/08 at 11:03am by jamie

Since Rove's influence over McCain's campaign seems to be growing by the minute, I wonder how FOX can get by with labeling him as such? Oh wait - it is FOX, so they aren't news, they are the propaganda station. These are the same people who called the rest of the media "fear mongers" when they were warning about the pending collapse of our economy.

Terrorist Scarfes

Rachael Ray seen here in a Dunkin Donuts ad, wearing her spring line of terrorist fashion (yeah right!). Dunkin Donuts has decided to pull the ad because little hate mongers like Michelle Malkin didn't like it. Olbermann decided to give Dunkin Donuts the honor of Worst Person in the World last night:

Being Diabetic, I don't eat at Dunkin Donuts, but if you do I would suggest finding another place for your morning sweet fix. Dunkin Donuts falling for the propaganda of the fringe elements of our society means they don't deserve the business of true Americans.

NRA's Secret Graphic Novel Revealed!

Posted 12/23/06 at 1:42pm by jamie

Wonkette:

Pro-gun Democrats did better in the midterms than probably any other class of politician, but the National Rifle Association is not in the business of reflecting moderate political reality. The NRA lives off memberships, and the standard card-carrying member has two enemies: Democrats and ... deer, most likely.

But even loyalists go soft, as the GOP learned last month, and you need some Grade A propaganda to get people riled up again. Let no one accuse the NRA of shirking its duty. Freedom In Peril: Guarding the 2nd Amendment in the 21st Century, is a spectacularly beautiful graphic novel. Here, for example, is one of the biggest threats to the white suburban hunter: dirty hippies and their evil sidekicks: the dynamite-carrying owl, sinister pig, angry Wall Street bull, dire wolf, terror chicken and Land Lobster:
