Hannity's Bogus Poll

Posted 7/24/06 at 3:54pm by jamie

Bowing down to Rick Santorum and placing his lips on Santorum's ass, Hannity has taken the lead in suck ups for lies this year. On his site hannity.com, Hannity ran the following poll:

hannitypoll.jpg

This of course follows Santorum talking about the WMDs found in Iraq. Of course what Santorum and Hannity both fail to mention is that these were the weapons from the early 90's that were essentially destroyed. These are the same weapons that we have known about and the U.N. weapons inspectors even admitted being destroyed. This is the typical style of lies these warmongers will resort to in order to win elections. They want to try and scare Americans into voting for Republicans when in fact these are the biggest pussies in the country.

Another interesting poll running on Hannity's site right now asks "Do you think Israel is justified in attacking Hezbollah?" Interesting results in that one. Currently 74% of the respondents say Israel has gone to far. I am sure the webmasters at Hannity's site will quickly change those numbers around to something more right wing sounding.

America Wants To "Cut and Run"

Posted 7/7/06 at 4:35pm by jamie

So how will the radical right label all these people now?

A new Gallup poll finds that roughly 2 in 3 Americans urge a U.S. withdrawal from Iraq, with 31% wanting this to start immediately. But it also found that while 64% feel they "understand" the Bush administraton's argument for staying in Iraq, only 54% understand the Democrats' view--whatever that is.

Gallup's director, Frank Newport, sums up the results today: "Taken together, it is perhaps fair to say that a significant majority of Americans would like the United States to either withdraw troops from Iraq or make specific plans to do so, although there is no majority demand that troops be withdrdrawn immediately."

The poll was unusual in that rather than give respondents a list of options, it allowed them to respond in their own words. Gallup then grouped the varied responses and labelled them with a common theme.

Results showed that almost 1 in 3 want to "pull the troops out and come home," as soon as possible. About the same number seem to wish for a gradual pullout. The remaining one-third back the present course or want to "finish what we started." Only 2% want to send more troops.

The results are very interesting. It shows that America is divided on exactly how to get out, much like the Democrats in Senate were on the debate, but it still shows that a vast majority of America is tired of the "stay the course" routine given by Bush. Having said that, it is obvious now which party has the pulse of the American people.

Warrantless Taps Losing Support

I didn't know the American Bar Association was into polling but I find the
results very interesting and possibly the most accurate to date:

According to a poll commissioned by the American Bar Association and
released today, 52 percent of respondents said that in the fight against
terrorism, the President of the United States alone cannot suspend
constitutional freedoms, with an additional 25 percent saying he must obtain
authorization by a court of law or Congress. Thus 77 percent of Americans
express deep reservations about the president’s secret surveillance program.

The telephone poll conducted by Harris Interactive® over the past weekend
found that only 18 percent of respondents believe the president can suspend
constitutional freedoms "anytime the President thinks it is necessary to
protect the country."

"While everyone agrees on the need for aggressive deterrence of
terrorism, the disclosure of unchecked domestic spying by the president is
deeply troubling to many Americans," said ABA President Michael S. Greco,
who released the poll results today in a news conference during the ABA’s
2006 Midyear Meeting in Chicago.

"Our Founders gave us a government that can act swiftly in times of
danger, but also protect our basic freedoms. It’s very encouraging that
Americans understand and insist on preserving that balance," he said.

Americans Not To Optimistic After The Sotu

Posted 2/1/06 at 5:08pm by jamie

The post speech analysis seemed to all come to one conclusion last night -
Bush was trying to unite the country. So did Americans come to the some
conclusion?

According to the latest SUSA
poll,
Bush failed on that attempt but not by much. 44% of those polled feels
he will divide the country more while 40% feel he will unite the country. 16%
wasn't sure.

Only 53% of the respondents felt that Bush focused on the issues most
important to them as compared to 41% who felt he didn't. This number is actually
kind of shocking. Iraq has been the number one issue and he spent 1/2 of his
speech on the subject. I got a feeling people are getting smarter and can see
through his rhetoric a lot easier now.

Another very interesting part of the poll focused on Bush telling the truth
about Iraq. 36% felt Bush was telling the whole truth while 37% thought he was
shading the truth. Those numbers are close but here is the alarming number. 23%
feel Bush is intentionally misleading when it comes to the situation in Iraq.
Basically that means 60% feel he is lying.

The final numbers on the poll conducted last night should send alarms through
the White House. 53% feel Bush is out of touch with the American people as
compared to 42% who feel he is in touch.

According to a new
Gallup/CNN
poll
, Bush had the lowest level of positive response to his speech since he
has been in office.

Bush's Approval Rating Continues To Fall

Posted 1/27/06 at 2:01pm by jamie

Bush is down to a 37% approval rating in the latest poll released by
CBS
and the New York Times
. 7 out of 10 respondents also are concerned the
deficit will grow by the end of Bush's Presidency. It will be interesting to see
what the numbers do next week after the State of the Union Address.

POLL: Most Believe Libby Intentionally Lied

Posted 11/5/05 at 6:07pm by jamie

A new poll by Survey USA
shows that most people believe that Libby was told to lie during his testimony.
The question and results are as follows:

Based on what you know now, which of the following statements about
Lewis "Scooter" Libby do you think is true?

Lied because he was told to 34%
Lied on own initiative 29%
Misled accidentally 13%
Did not lie 12%
Not sure 12%

(this poll was conducted on 11/04/2005 by a sampling of 1200 adults
and has a margin of +/- 2.9%)

At first glance, you get the impression that people are believing that
someone ordered Libby to lie. This impression is of course the correct one, but
there is something else in this poll that really stands out. 63% of the
respondents feel that he did actually lie. That should put the administration
less at ease considering a majority now feel he did actually lie intentionally.

His lawyer is planning a "lack of memory" defense. The argument is going to
be that he talks to so many people in a day how could he possibly remember who
he said what to. By the results of this survey, only 13% would believe that
defense.

October Poll Wrap-Up

Posted 11/3/05 at 2:31am by jamie

October's poll dealt with your town's evacuation plan and if you felt it was
up to date. The results are as follows:

  • Definitely - 8% (2)
  • Possibly - 8% (2)
  • Not Sure - 44% (11)
  • No Way - 40% (10)

This was based on a total of 25 respondents.

It is shocking yet in a way comforting to see how many responded as no way.
Having a background in fire and life safety, I can safely say that you would be
shocked to see how out of date your town's evacuation plan most likely is. If
you are near your town hall, you should stop in and ask to see it just to make
sure they are updating it.

Factors affecting evacuation plans change on nearly a monthly basis. Roads
get closed or re-routed. Subdivisions can be built and nursing homes or
hospitals open and close. These all affect that evacuation plan. Most towns
actually write an evacuation plan then think "well that's done" and file it
away. This hurricane season should hopefully wake up most town leaders to this
lazy approach but I fear it won't. Take some time to check with your town public
safety department and make sure they are staying up to date on evacuation plans.

This month's poll has to do with the leak investigation. I want to get the
views of readers on how they compare it to Watergate. Please take a moment to

More Sliding Of The Approval Rating

Posted 11/3/05 at 2:21am by jamie

Its the first of the month and we will start getting glimpses into how the
public thinks of our President. The first look is not so good for him.

CBS has released their latest poll that
goes into the leak investigation and the approval of the President. His approval
has dropped even more and more people now view the leak as serious.

HOW IMPORTANT TO THE NATION IS THE CIA LEAK MATTER?

  • Great Importance: 51%
  • Some Importance: 35%
  • Little/No Importance 12%

CBS also compared this to the views of other scandals that have surrounded
the White House in recent history. Here is a table comparing the results.

A Majority Now Supports Impeachment

Posted 10/12/05 at 3:44pm by jamie

A poll that researchers would not run because they thought it was not a hot
topic has proven to become an actual hot topic. By a margin of 50% to 44%, the
American people want President Bush impeached if it is proven he lied about the
issues leading to our invasion of Iraq.

The poll, sponsored by
Afterdowningstreet.org
, and conducted by IPSOS was ran from October 8-9,
where 1,001 adults were surveyed.

In June of this year, the last time this question was polled, only 42% of
respondents supported impeachment. This has changed by a yield of 8%, and can be
considered directly influenced by the diminishing support for the Iraq war.

During the Monica Lewinsky affair, only 36% of those polled favored an
investigation into Bill Clinton, while only 26% actually supported impeachment.

NewsMax Spins and Gets Busted.

Posted 9/9/05 at 5:57am by jamie

After fighting with a right wing defendant on
Bill Maher's forum, who insisted only
13% of Americans were blaming George Bush for the bad response last week in the
Gulf Coast, I dissected his data and produced an enormous lie being reported by
the right wing spin machine NewsMax.

First
NewsMax
reported this on Wednesday in an article titled "New Poll: Americans
Not Blaming Bush for Katrina Problems"

Only 13 percent of those polled believe President Bush is "most
responsible”
for the problems in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, a
new poll discloses.

And 35 percent said Bush has done a "great” or "good” job responding
to the hurricane and flooding,
according to the CNN/USA Today/Gallup
poll.

Ok, sounds truthful enough until you read the actual
CNN article that
reveals the poll numbers. I will quote only the pertinent paragraph here.

Opinions varied widely, however, on the response of federal, state and
local officials regarding Katrina. Forty-two percent of respondents
characterized President Bush's response to the disaster as "bad" or
"terrible," while 35 percent said it was "good" or "great."
