The Historical Ignorance Of The Right

Posted 10/20/10 at 11:20am by jamie

Sarah Palin opens mouth and creates another shit storm:

Seeking to channel the sign-bearing, flag-waving enthusiasm of the "tea party" movement into ballot-box victories, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told hundreds of supporters Monday they couldn't "party like it's 1773" until Washington was flooded with like-minded conservatives.

The led to Gwen Ifill to tweet the following:

twtgisp

Now the right is defending Palin as talking about the Boston Tea Party. Here’s Michelle Malkin:

“Ummm” yourself, nitwit.

Of course they wouldn’t know when the Tea Party occurred.

They’re too busy wallowing in teabagging jokes and hate smears.

But what else was happening in 1773, especially to Africans?

Is McCain RIsking War With Russia To Protect Palin?

Posted 10/1/08 at 7:13pm by jamie

This is a very serious question. The McCain campaign has been spreading very dangerous lies about Russia in order to protect Palin's baseless claims about Russia coming into our airspace over Alaska. The Air Force has even called the McCain campaign a liar.

Wars are started by violations of air space. The McCain campaign shouldn't be out spreading lies like this. I thought this was a man who knew national security. Well if he does then he is putting his country at risk for his own political aspirations. That can be defined as a traitor.

Bin Laden's A Freedom FIghter?

Posted 9/27/08 at 5:11pm by jamie

Watch this clip from last night:

McCain: "We were able to help the Afghan freedom fighters
drive the Russians out of Afghanistan we washed our hands of the the region."

Those so called 'freedom fighters" were the Mujahideen, who were Muslim extremists recruited and trained by the U.S. to fight push Russia out of Afghanistan, but McCain is now calling them simply "freedom fighters". Yup - to John McCain Osama bin Laden is a "freedom fighter".

They Didn't Forget Poland!

Posted 8/15/08 at 9:14am by jamie

By they, I mean the Russians:

A top Russian general said Friday that Poland's agreement to accept a U.S. missile interceptor base exposes the ex-communist nation to attack, possibly by nuclear weapons, the Interfax news agency reported.

The statement by Gen. Anatoly Nogovitsyn is the strongest threat that Russia has issued against the plans to put missile defense elements in former Soviet satellite nations.

Hasn't the world just become the greatest place?

Cyber Warfare?

Posted 8/11/08 at 4:39pm by jamie

As we move forward with technology, our sources of warfare also transform. This could be what's happening in Georgia right now:

August 11, 2008 (Computerworld) Hackers, perhaps affiliated with a well-known Russian criminal network, have attacked and hijacked Web sites belonging to Georgia, the former Soviet republic now in the fourth day of war with Russia, a security researcher claimed on Sunday.

Some Georgian government and commercial sites are unavailable, while others may have been hijacked, said Jart Armin, a researcher who tracks the notorious Russian Business Network (RBN), a malware and criminal hosting network.

This is an angle to warfare that is only discussed in theory, and one most think of as the plot from some sci-fi movie. Today it looks more like reality.

Another Price Of Iraq

Posted 8/11/08 at 10:33am by jamie

The people in Georgia wonder why the U.S. and NATO isn't there helping them fight Russia:

As a Russian jet bombed fields around his village, Djimali Avago, a Georgian farmer, asked me: “Why won’t America and Nato help us? If they won’t help us now, why did we help them in Iraq?”

A similar sense of betrayal coursed through the conversations of many Georgians here yesterday as their troops retreated under shellfire and the Russian Army pressed forward to take full control of South Ossetia.

If the U.S. gets involved militarily in this conflict, it means we are at war with Russia. If we go to war with Russia, we can expect that war to include us against China. Is this something our stretched out military can really handle now?

Report: 1,500 Civilians Killed In Georgia

Posted 8/9/08 at 9:09am by jamie

While the media is fixated on the Edwards affair, there is real news out there. Reports are indicating that some 1,500 people have been killed already in the fighting between Georgia and Russia. Georgia has also approved a "state of war" against Russia.

Yesterday the word was that this has the potential of exploding into something really bad, today that looks more like a reality.

Rule One Of Being A Foreign Policy Expert

Posted 7/14/08 at 5:12pm by jamie

Know world geography:

At a press availability today, John McCain expressed concern about relations between Russia and a country that hasn't existed for quite some time:

"I was concerned about a couple of steps that the Russian government took in the last several days. One was reducing the energy supplies to Czechoslovakia. Apparently that is in reaction to the Czech's agreement with us concerning missile defense, and again some of the Russian now announcement they are now retargeting new targets, something they abandoned at the end of the Cold War, is also a concern."

Czechoslovakia, of course, split into two separate countries in 1993.

McCain has failed rule one on numerous occasions. Another "senior moment", or just plain ignorance? Either way, do we really want him running this nation? I would say NOT!

What A Cluster

Posted 5/29/08 at 8:41am by jamie

The U.S. decides not to join in the international ban of cluster bombs:

More than 100 countries reached agreement Wednesday to ban cluster bombs, controversial weapons that human rights groups deplore but that the United States, which did not join the ban, calls an integral, legitimate part of its arsenal.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, whose personal intervention Wednesday led to final agreement among representatives of 111 countries gathered in Dublin, called the ban a "big step forward to make the world a safer place."

So what other countries joined us in not signing onto this ban? We got some nice company here:

In addition to the United States, Russia, China, Israel, India and Pakistan -- all of them major producers or users of the weapons -- did not sign the agreement or participate in the talks.

Of course when you have a President that is too fucking chicken to actually fight in a war, then you have a President that doesn't know the costs of war and what weapons like this actually do.

McCain "More Hawkish" Than Bush

Posted 3/12/08 at 9:48pm by jamie

Not my words, but the words of Bloomberg news:

McCain More Hawkish Than Bush on Russia, China, Iraq

And that thought should send cold shivers down your spine. Hell you should wake up in a cold sweat, screaming in the middle of the night. Just check this out:

John McCain is at least as determined as George W. Bush to stay the course in Iraq and more confrontational than the president on foreign policy issues ranging from Russia and China to North Korea.

The perception that McCain is less bellicose than the administration is belied by his own positions. He's skeptical about Bush's plan to provide nuclear fuel to North Korea. He has signaled he would be tougher on China. And he called Russia's elections ``rigged'' even as Bush said he wanted a ``close'' relationship with the president-elect.

``On Russia and China, he is clearly more hawkish than Bush,'' said Ken Weinstein, chief executive officer of the Hudson Institute, a research group in Washington.

Do we really want someone pushing Russia, China and North Korea to the limit? There is a new simple rule of foreign policy - if you piss one of those three off, you piss them all off. China and Russia have already been doing join military maneuvers, just to show they are huge now, all while our military is stretched to the limit.

John McCain should be considered a threat to the security of this country. Every war leaves us more vulnerable, as well as more resented - and he will bring us more wars.

We really need our nomination to get sewn up so we can focus on educating the public about McCain. Hopefully the blogosphere will start focusing more on him.
