The Pro-Gun Nuts Are Forcing More Regulation

Posted 12/18/12 at 1:19pm by jamie

They are too idiotic to realize it, but it's the pro-gun idiots out there that are pushing our nation to tougher firearms control. Take this story out of Salt Lake City:

A 6th grade student brought an unloaded handgun to West Kearns Elementary School Monday.

The 11-year-old boy told other students his parents encouraged him to bring a gun to school for protection following the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday.

The boy reportedly pulled the gun, a .22-caliber pistol, out of his backpack during recess Monday morning.

“At recess, he pointed a gun to my head and said he was going to kill me,” said Isabel Rios, one of the boy’s fellow 6th grade students.

First off. These parents, who by the love of God should not be allowed to reproduce, much less own weapons, put their child in more harms way. Pulling an unloaded weapon is extremely dangerous in violent situations. It makes the perpetrator take instant notice at you, and the most you can maybe do is throw the weapon at them. Smooth move, idiots! Hopefully your child is taken away from you.

Second, this shows that not everyone should have the right to own a gun. These parents sure as hell shouldn't considering they have given a firearm to a child. The parents should also be facing charges for child endangerment, but there is no word on that either.

One can only suspect that the parents are big pro-gun nuts. These are the people that think the only solution to any problem is with a firearm. These people are the biggest threat to the 2nd amendment we have.

Since Sandy Hook last week, we are seeing a big shift in opinion, both from the public and politicians. One more Sandy Hook incident and we will see even a bigger shift. A couple more and there will be enough support in this nation to repeal the 2nd amendment. So what's that say to the gun nuts?

The TSA DID NOT Remove A Little Boy’s Shirt

Posted 11/22/10 at 2:24pm by jamie

There has been a lot of talk this weekend over a video of a shirtless 12 year old boy going through a TSA pat down. In case you missed it, here’s the video:

This story got big this weekend when Drudge starting pushing it. Within a couple of hours you would have thought that President Obama went there himself and stripped the boy if you only read the right wing blogs.

Well today the TSA responded:

A video is being widely circulated showing a shirtless boy receiving secondary screening from a Transportation Security Officer (TSO). A passenger filmed the screening with their cell phone and posted the video on the web. Many are coming to their own conclusions about what's happening in the video which is now perched at the top of the Drudge report and being linked to in many other blogs and tweets. We looked into this to find out what happened.

How Republicans Want America To Look

Posted 6/13/10 at 10:05am by jamie

Here's a view of a Republican America:

From Think Progress:

Yesterday, Chevron discovered a leaking pipeline that was spewing 50 gallons of crude oil per minute into Red Butte Creek in Salt Lake City, UT. By the time crews capped the leak, more than 21,000 gallons — between 400-500 barrels — of oil had spilled out, “coating geese and ducks” and closing the city’s largest park.

This was just days after Utah's Republican Governor, Gary Herbert, called for more drilling. Yes - more drilling, more destroying of America's envrionment. That seems to be the wishes of the GOP and it's an assault on the place we all call home.

White Powder Letters Sent To Mormon Temple

Posted 11/14/08 at 9:26am by jamie

This is a new, and very sick trend in American politics:

LOS ANGELES – Letters containing a suspicious white powder were sent Thursday to Mormon temples in Los Angeles and Salt Lake City that were the sites of protests against the church's support of California's gay marriage ban.

The temple in the Westwood area of Los Angeles was evacuated before a hazardous materials crew determined the envelope's contents were not toxic, said FBI spokesman Jason Pack.

The temple in downtown Salt Lake City, where the church is based, received a similar envelope containing a white powder that spilled onto a clerk's hand.

I, like many on the left, was very disappointed when prop 8 passed, but actions like this help no one. It is domestic terrorism and hopefully the person who sent the letter will be caught and prosecuted. We can all disagree and voice our opposition without resorting to illegal actions.

The GOP Fracture

Posted 10/1/07 at 12:11pm by jamie

Rudy Giuliani is a problem for the GOP. The right-wing pundits try to dismiss this, but the Christian Right is making sure their concerns are known:

Alarmed at the chance that the Republican party might pick Rudolph Giuliani as its presidential nominee despite his support for abortion rights, a coalition of influential Christian conservatives is threatening to back a third-party candidate in an attempt to stop him.

The group making the threat, which came together Saturday in Salt Lake City during a break-away gathering during a meeting of the secretive Council for National Policy, includes Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family, who is perhaps the most influential of the group, as well as Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, the direct mail pioneer Richard Viguerie and dozens of other politically-oriented conservative Christians, participants said. Almost everyone present expressed support for a written resolution that “if the Republican Party nominates a pro-abortion candidate we will consider running a third party candidate.”

I have always said this country needs more political parties. We have grown too diverse for all our political beliefs to be summed up into two parties. This could become the opening for such a division. Personally I would like to see both parties split into two. Our democracy really needs this.

OOPS - Something Else Popped Up On YouTube!

Posted 3/22/07 at 2:15pm by jamie

Kos found this gem

Yup - that is wingnut darling supporting Salt Lake City mayor Rocky Anderson. This is the same Rocky Anderson who called Bush a war criminal this week and said he should be impeached. Kos has a bunch of Rocky's diaries highlighted.

Hear that? It is the meltdown of the wingnut bloggers. Just when they thought it was so neat about the Hillary 1984 ad on YouTube. The maker of that ad has summed it up perfectly:

I made the "Vote Different" ad because I wanted to express my feelings about the Democratic primary, and because I wanted to show that an individual citizen can affect the process. There are thousands of other people who could have made this ad, and I guarantee that more ads like it--by people of all political persuasions--will follow.

The only thing I would like to add to that is the difference the media age is making on politics. It was easy to sit there and deny saying something in past elections, but now thanks to the power of the internet, we have archives to go through and demystify any shades a candidate might try to cast over a previous part of their lives. Some are taking awhile to learn this. Tony Snow got caught with it yesterday when asked about his sudden support for executive privilege when 10 years ago he was so against it.

It's Official - We Are A Police State.

Posted 8/23/05 at 2:13am by jamie

During this past weekend, two different events occurred that makes our once
great nation appear more as a police state.

The first happened in Pittsburgh where a peaceful protest turned violent. The
turn of violence was not from the protestors, but from the police. They tased
two women, one of which was also bitten by a police dog.
Click
here to view a video of the tasing. I posted the

article
regarding this incident yesterday

Incident two took place Saturday night in Utah where a rave was in progress.
The rave was broken up by local and state police, according to officials. Watch
this video
of the incident and see if that appears to be police. According to a post on
Daily Kos
by someone in attendance, the rave was commercially organized and
promoted plus had all required permits.

The troopers (either local or military) stormed the rave in camouflage and
helicopters. They were carrying assault riffles and one report even says they
launched tear gas into the crowd.

 Crooks
and Liars
is reporting that an official inside the Utah state government
stated the break up was due in part to the protest of George Bush that took
place in Salt Lake City today. They feared this rave would grow support for the
protest.
