Imagine That! Scott Walker Admits Eliminating Collective Bargaining Does NOT Save Money

Posted 4/16/11 at 9:00am by jamie

Us on the left have been saying this all along and now the man in the spotlight of the “War Against Labor” has admitted it – eliminating collective bargaining does not save money!

Like a dog going at a bone, U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, didn't stop until he got the answer he was looking for from Gov. Scott Walker during the governor's testimony Thursday before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Kucinich said he could not understand how Walker's bill to strip most collective bargaining rights from nearly all public workers saved the state any money and therefore was relevant to the topic before the committee, which was state and municipal debt.

"How much money does it save Gov. Walker?" Kucinich demanded. "Just answer the question."

"It doesn't save any," Walker said.

Again – the reason for this law was purely political. The right didn’t like the unions supporting Barack Obama in 2008, so instead of trying to find ways to appeal to organized labor, the right decides to hurt them.

Still don’t believe it? Well just ask Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader, Scott Fitzgerald.

Blago’s Back

Posted 1/11/10 at 8:23am by jamie

It looks like Blago’s AWDD (Attention Whore Deficit Disorder) was kicking into high gear:

Blagojevich, referring to the president as "this guy," says Obama was elected based simply on hope.

"What the (expletive)? Everything he's saying's on the teleprompter," Blagojevich told the magazine for a story in its February issue, which hits newsstands Jan. 19.

"I'm blacker than Barack Obama. I shined shoes. I grew up in a five-room apartment. My father had a little laundromat in a black community not far from where we lived," Blagojevich said. "I saw it all growing up."

I guess Blago got a little jealous of the attention Reid has been getting and decided it’s time to get a little bit of that spotlight.

Sarah Palin Responds Regarding Her Birther Comment

Posted 12/4/09 at 8:12am by jamie

Yesterday Sarah Palin joined the ranks of the birther movement and by late night she issued this statement on her Facebook page:

Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I’ve pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States.

That’s a rather interesting statement coming from a person who considered a simple question like “what news sources do you read?” a gotcha question.

Adding… One of the most laughable defenses I hear of Sarah Palin is that she must “grow” as a candidate. She has been in the spotlight for over a year now and we have seen no proof of this happening. If anything we are seeing just the opposite happen. If she needs to grow then she should really start doing it fast because every time she makes a statement like yesterday her maturity as a candidate shrinks even more.

Keeping The Spotlight On Her

Posted 12/19/08 at 9:24am by jamie

drug bust Sarah Palin just keeps getting more and more attention:

A 42-year-old Wasilla woman was arrested Thursday at her home by Alaska State Troopers with a search warrant in an undercover drug investigation. Sherry L. Johnston was charged with six felony counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance.

Johnston is the mother of Levi Johnston, the Wasilla 18-year-old who received international attention in September when Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, announced their teenage daughter was pregnant and he was the father. Bristol Palin, 18, is due on Saturday, according to a recent interview with the governor's father, Chuck Heath.

Troopers served the warrant at Johnston's home at the "conclusion of an undercover narcotics investigation," said a statement issued Thursday by the troopers as part of the normal daily summary of activity around the state.

Troopers charged Johnston with second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance -- generally manufacturing or delivering drugs -- as well as fourth-degree misconduct involving controlled substances, or possession.

Wasilla is known as the crystal meth capital of Alaska. Even though the article doesn’t say exactly what it was she was busted with, one can only assume. The Wassilla-billies strike again!

RIck On The Run

If the NYT's reporting about Rick Davis is so wrong, then why is he running?

John McCain campaign manager Rick Davis--under the spotlight because of his work for mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac--is skipping a Wednesday lunch with reporters sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor.

Do the innocent run, or do they try to prove their innocence? Perhaps someone should ask Rick Davis that question - if he can be found.

Republicans: Just Say No To Torture!

Posted 9/3/08 at 10:51am by jamie

Andrew Sullivan has been doing some digging and noticed something very interesting:

I've noted the bizarre locution Bush used last night to describe the torture endured by John McCain. I hope the press corps will follow up. But one piece of evidence that the omission of the t-word by Bush was deliberate comes in Fred Thompson's speech as well. He went on at length about the hideous treatment handed down to John McCain in Vietnam. It was the longest section of the speech. Wanna guess if the word "torture" came up at all?

Now that sounds like a really well scripted convention. McCain is supposed to be such an advocate against torture, yet they won't even mention the word in his convention? I hope the media raises this issue - it seems like it's worth some spotlight.

Boehner Throws Hastert Under The Bus

Posted 10/3/06 at 4:57pm by jamie

Boehner is back in the spotlight on the Foley scandal. Now he is in the swing of attempting self survival:

ABC's Teddy Davis reports: In a radio interview with 700 WLW radio in Cincinnati, House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) placed responsibility for the Foley matter not being handled properly on House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL).

"I believe I talked to the Speaker and he told me it had been taken care of," said Boehner. "And, and, and my position is it's in his corner, it's his responsibility. The Clerk of the House who runs the page program, the Page Board—all report to the Speaker. And I believe it had been dealt with."

This follows an interview on Sean Hannity's radio show yesterday where Boehner was being more forth coming with the impact the Foley scandal will have on the GOP this fall:

The House majority leader, John A. Boehner of Ohio, dismissed that possibility. “To vote for this candidate, you have to vote for Mark Foley,” Mr. Boehner said on a conservative radio program hosted by Sean Hannity. “How many people are going to hold their nose to do that?”

That interview was very heated and I wish I had audio of it. Hannity was working his ass off to spin this around and Boehner actually wouldn't let him.

Of course this in no way let's Boehner off the hook. He still played around with his story and did not follow up on the incident as he should have. We still need to send Boehner home this fall and there is still time to do that.

Jean 'Full Of Schmidt' Back In The News

Posted 2/21/06 at 7:01pm by jamie

Evil Jean is at it again. This woman can not get enough of the
spotlight for being a raving lunatic. Via
WCPO news.

Schmidt Demands Apology For Cake
Incident

Congresswoman Jean Schmidt is upset with some of her political
opponents for slicing up a cake made to look like her.

State Representative Tom Brinkman cut the head off the Schmidt-cake at a
meeting of COAST, an anti-tax group he founded.

Bob McEwen, Schmidt's opponent in the Second District Republican
congressional primary was also in attendance.

I didn't see a segment on this last night on WCPO's news but if
they run one I will get a clip up of it.

What I find peculiar on this is the fact that the GOP just held
their big convention last week and the opening of it featured a movie where the
Democrats were the evil empire and the Republicans were the Jedi trying to save
the universe.

John also
has some interesting points on this.

Really - If Jean can not handle politics then she needs to just
give up. I have never heard someone with such a short time in office cry as much
as she has.

Bush's Dark Road Ahead

Posted 9/10/05 at 4:50pm by jamie

The events of the last couple weeks have taken the
spotlight from other happenings in the world (rightfully so). While we look
towards the gruesome job of recovering the dead and try to figure out how to
rebuild the Big Easy and other areas along the Gulf Coast, Bush gets to look to
another few weeks of what will most likely be a politically damming series of
events.

Not only does he still have to face answering the questions
of what his administration failed to do in the wake of America’s worst disaster,
but he also has to look forward to the grand jury findings in the Valerie Plame
leak case, and the almost certainty of Iraq deteriorating as it quickly
approaches their election time.

This week, the Reuters ran an article saying the CIA leak
case is nearing “end game”. The grand jury is set to expire at the end of next
month, and there has been a sudden halt in stories coming out of the court room.
As matter of fact in the article, it says that it has been weeks since anyone
heard from Fitzgerald, the special prosecutor in charge of the investigation.

Judith Miller has now been sitting in jail for over two
months because of her decision to not comply with a court order. Time Magazine’s
attorney, Theodore Boutrous, told Reuters that "either Fitzgerald still needs
Miller or he doesn't, It's who blinks first. ... You would think something needs
to happen soon, one way or another." I think he hits on a very important point,
but not one that is seen relatively clearly in this quote.
