Speaking Of Media Propaganda

Andrea Mitchell continues to push it:

On MSNBC Live, Andrea Mitchell failed to challenge Republican strategist Trent Duffy's false claim that Sen. John McCain "was one of the first to call for Secretary Rumsfeld's resignation." In fact, as his campaign itself has reportedly admitted, McCain did not call for former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's resignation. While McCain expressed "no confidence" in Rumsfeld in 2004, he reportedly "said his comments were not a call for Rumsfeld's resignation."

Here's the video of Mitchell's interview:

John McCain never once called for the resignation of Rumsfeld, instead he just started saying he did after it became political capital. I guess it's just another "senior moment" for the senile old man.

Another Report On Katrina Faulting The White House

Looks like things could get even more heated between the White House and
Capital Hill this week:

Hurricane Katrina exposed the U.S. government's failure to learn the
lessons of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, as leaders from President
Bush down disregarded ample warnings of the threat to New Orleans and did
not execute emergency plans or share information that would have saved
lives, according to a blistering report by House investigators.

A draft of the report, to be released publicly Wednesday, includes 90
findings of failures at all levels of government, according to a senior
investigation staffer who requested anonymity because the document is not
final. Titled "A Failure of Initiative," it is one of three separate reviews
by the House, Senate and White House that will in coming weeks dissect the
response to the nation's costliest natural disaster.

The 600-plus-page report lays primary fault with the passive reaction and
misjudgments of top Bush aides, singling out Homeland Security Secretary
Michael Chertoff, the Homeland Security Operations Center and the White
House Homeland Security Council, according to a 60-page summary of the
document obtained by The Washington Post. Regarding Bush, the report found
that "earlier presidential involvement could have speeded the response"
because he alone could have cut through all bureaucratic resistance.

Of course the White House is in defense mode and Trent Duffy is quoted later in the article:

White House spokesman Trent Duffy said Bush had full confidence in his homeland security team, both appointed and career. "The president was involved from beginning to end," implementing emergency powers before the storm and taking responsibility afterward, Duffy said.

Another Fine Example Of Bushit!

The White House has come out and attacked Pat Robertson over his comments
yesterday on the stroke of Ariel Sharon:

The White House sharply criticized Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson on
Friday for suggesting that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was
divine punishment for "dividing God's land."

"Those comments are wholly inappropriate and offensive and really don't
have a place in this or any other debate," presidential spokesman Trent
Duffy said as Bush traveled to Chicago for a speech.

Robertson made his comments about Israel and Sharon on his TV program,
"The 700 Club." He said, "God considers this land to be his. You read the
Bible and he says `This is my land,' and for any prime minister of Israel
who decides he is going to carve it up and give it away, God says, `No, this
is mine.'"

I hear the Church Lady from Saturday Night Live in my head right now going
"Well isn't that specialllll". Considering all the other asinine comments
Robertson has made lately like the one of us assassinating Venezuelan President
Hugo Chavez, perhaps Robertson is becoming a great threat to national security.
Now here is one wild thought. Since he is threatening our national security and
the President has all these powers now, like ignoring the fourth amendment to
spy on citizens without a warrant, then perhaps he should extend those "special
powers". I think a statement like this is in order:
