PA. Teacher's Aide Goes On Racist Rant Over Obama

Posted 11/11/08 at 6:31pm by jamie

This is sick:

The mother of a sixteen-year-old student in the Allison Park suburb of Pittsburgh was shocked when her daughter repeated disparaging remarks made about Barack Obama by a teacher's aide at her vocational high school.

"One of the teacher's aides ... said that Obama was going to be shot and killed," Mara Gilligan told KDKA News. "And that our flag is going to be the KFC [Kentucky Fried Chicken] flag and that the new national anthem will be 'Moving On Up' -- and that all my daughter's beliefs were wrong and her children's lives were going to be ruined because Obama was elected."

Raw Story has video up of it. Last week the right was up in arms over a black teacher saying things in support of Obama. What she did in no way compared to this. I wonder if we will see the same vigilance from the right on this story. (Don't hold your breath!)

DOJ Giving Foley Time To Cover His Tracks

Posted 10/1/06 at 4:05pm by jamie

Today's New York Times article covering the developments in the Foley case has one key paragraph that must be addressed:

At the Justice Department, an official said that no investigation was under way but that the agency had “real interest” in examining the circumstances to see if any crimes were committed.

Why is an investigation not under way? The ABC chat transcripts are more than evidence enough to get an investigation going. So why not start it already? If this was any other citizen or a Democrat in Congress, you can bet the investigation would have started when the story broke. Is this the type of vigilance Gonzales' Department of Justice takes? If it is then there is no wonder why our country is always at danger.

Something else this does is allow more time for a cover up. With Foley's sudden departure, who is to say he didn't want to get home and start erasing his hard drive? More times than not these cases also involve child pornography. Investigators should have immediatley been assigned, a warrent immediatley obtained and his computers seized. Oh but wait a minute. Could they have been able to get his office computer? Remember - Dennis Hastert doesn't think members of Congress should have their offices searched, even with proper court orders. Now maybe we see why he went out to fight for a Democrat - Rep. William Jefferson.

I am also wondering what kind of message this sends to other internet sex predators out there? I mean they won't investigate the Congressman with this damming evidence out there, so why should any other predator worry? WRONG MESSAGE REPUBLICANS!

Dear John Boehner

According to this report, you were made aware of Foley's actions and it is apparent you did nothing. Why did you not take action? As majority leader, you should have addressed this situation. Perhaps a better situation for your party would have been vigilance and removed Foley from all positions of power pending an investigation. Instead it is obvious you ignored it.

I am not asking as a blogger. I am asking as a constituent. Considering the pure number of these acts we hear reported in our own area on a daily basis (and I do only live 10 miles from you so we hear the same news), couldn't you have exhibited some outrage and taken action?

Like anything else, I do not expect you to answer. You have turned your back on the residents of your district time and time again, and I am sure this time will be no different.

Perhaps the best thing I can do is encourage my readers to donate to the man running against you. I have met Mort Meier, and can personally say he would have taken action should he have been in the same position as you, instead of ignoring something so disgusting. So to all my readers - please give to Mort Meier and help replace the enabler John Boehner.

 Sincerely,

Jamie Holly

Another Sort-of Terror Threat

Another sort-of terror threat 'No credible intelligence': FBI expresses vigilance for upcoming tournaments

Could something happen? Of course. Am I sick and tired of this administrations games with scaring the hell out Americans when serious threats don't really exist? Definitely. Maybe that's why the US public is turning away from the Bush administration and their claims of protecting America. The public has turned but the administration doesn't get it yet. Why should we believe anything that they have to say? How did such a non-story actually become a story? Who's pulling strings to try and play the fear card once again?

You know there is a growing sense of desperation in the White House when vague, ill-defined terror threats are allowed to leak to the press. Now comes news of a terror threat of some sort against sporting venues. What the threat entails, who is involved, and who might be at risk is unknown, but an "abundance of caution" is often Bush Administration code for using propaganda to keep the American sheeple fearful and thus in line. After all, if you're fearing for your safety, you're not very well going to be worrying about things like the economy or port security, are you? Yes, someone is going to do something horrible somewhere, to somebody, at some indeterminate point in time. Be afraid. Be very afraid. Otherwise, the terrorists will win....
