President Petraeus? Fox News' Failed Mission

Posted 12/5/12 at 12:43pm by jamie

"Fair and balanced" sure has an interesting meaning when it comes to Fox News. We're all used to their highly partisan reporting, but this story takes the political involvement of the network to a whole new level.

Roger Ailes, the longtime Republican media guru, founder of Fox News and its current chairman, had some advice last year for then-Gen. David H. Petraeus.

So in spring 2011, Ailes asked a Fox News analyst headed to Afghanistan to pass on his thoughts to Petraeus, who was then the commander of U.S. and coalition forces there. Petraeus, Ailes advised, should turn down an expected offer from President Obama to become CIA director and accept nothing less than the chairmanship of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the top military post. If Obama did not offer the Joint Chiefs post, Petraeus should resign from the military and run for president, Ailes suggested.

The Fox News chairman’s message was delivered to Petraeus by Kathleen T. McFarland, a Fox News national security analyst and former national security and Pentagon aide in three Republican administrations. She did so at the end of a 90-minute, unfiltered conversation with Petraeus that touched on the general’s future, his relationship with the media and his political aspirations — or lack thereof. The Washington Post has obtained a digital recording from the meeting, which took place in Petraeus’s office in Kabul.

So Ailes was trying to get the General to run for President. But even more interesting is this part:

Vote Romney! The People In China Need Our Jobs!!

Bain Capital has fallen off the radar lately, but an explosive new piece in the Washington Post should put it back in the spotlight:

Mitt Romney’s financial company, Bain Capital, invested in a series of firms that specialized in relocating jobs done by American workers to new facilities in low-wage countries like China and India.

During the nearly 15 years that Romney was actively involved in running Bain, a private equity firm that he founded, it owned companies that were pioneers in the practice of shipping work from the United States to overseas call centers and factories making computer components, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

This isn't some conspiracy theory or speculation. This information comes from federal documents filed by Bain. They admitted the practice in documents that lying on is a federal offense.

Mitt Romney was the king of outsourcing American jobs! The man the GOP wants to put in the White House is a big reason that we have lost our manufacturing base and now there is proof!

Of course the GOP will probably champion him more as a hero now because what Romney did was in the interest of his own fortune and not of others. He is the greedy rich guy and that is what the GOP loves. Forget country and fellow citizens - it's the party of Gordon Gecko!

The Most Polarizing President Ever?

Posted 1/30/12 at 9:59am by jamie

"The Fix" in today's Washington Post offers up this headline:

Obama: The most polarizing president. Ever.

When you look at how divided this country is that could be easy to conclude, but is it President Obama's fault? First let's take a look at how they come to this conclusion:

For 2011, Obama’s third year in office, an average of 80 percent of Democrats approved of the job he was doing in Gallup tracking polls, as compared to 12 percent of Republicans who felt the same way. That’s a 68-point partisan gap, the highest for any president’s third year in office — ever. (The previous high was George W. Bush in 2007, when he had a 59 percent difference in job approval ratings.)

In 2010, the partisan gap between how Obama was viewed by Democrats versus Republicans stood at 68 percent; in 2009, it was 65 percent. Both were the highest marks ever for a president’s second and first years in office, respectively.

But consider what this President has had to go through. Before he even took the oath of office, one of the biggest voices proudly proclaimed that he wanted to see "this President fail". Now many try to say "Rush Limbaugh is just a radio personality", but that sentiment was quickly picked up by actual politicians, including Rick Santorum, who is currently a Republican presidential candidate. Furthermore, any Republican politician who tried to soften Rush's words ended up on his show apologizing to him.

Ruth Marcus Sucks!

Here's the WaPo's Ruth Marcus yesterday on the Emma Sullivan tweet to Sam Brownback:

Emma Sullivan, you’re lucky you’re not my daughter. (Dangerous sentence, I know: My daughters might agree.)

If you were my daughter, you’d be writing that letter apologizing to Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback for the smartalecky, potty-mouthed tweet you wrote after meeting with him on a school field trip.

Just a reminder, here's what Sullivan said:

Just made mean comments at gov brownback and told him he sucked, in person #heblowsalot

I wonder what she is referring to as "potty mouth" in there? I mean we live in an age where the vice-President of the country can go into the Senate and tell another Senator to "go fuck yourself" and I don't remember Marcus taking Cheney on for that one.

And I'm wondering if Marcus even bothered to look into this story at all. Sullivan is 18. She is old enough to vote for a President or go fight and die in a war for our country, but Marcus thinks she isn't allowed to say someone sucks? It's amazing that this old crone was ever considered for a Pulitzer.

Ever wonder why the Washington Post is struggling so bad? It's because these are the type of people they give voice to. I'm sorry but Ruth Marcus is the one who sucks.

Now head over to Esquire and read their hilarious take down of the idiot that is Ruth Marcus.
