This is a hummingbird moth that was in my backyard a couple of weeks ago. I forgot I took this picture and found it today while going through some cards. They really do confuse you for hummingbirds at first. And to the city folk out there - yes they are real. I had never seen them before moving to the country.

I saw this cool sky while exploring Flickr and had to post it. What a great capture it is. Vivid colors and awesome rays.

Things have been hectic lately. I been moving my office and just haven't had time to think, let alone surf Flickr. I sat down for a couple of minutes tonight to breath and saw this picture. Instantly I fell in love and had to post it as my daily Flickr.

I took this one a few weeks ago in Yellow Springs and been meaning to post it. It was a truck heavily decorated with anti-war messages. One of the great scenes from the Liberal haven buried deep in red Ohio.

Here's one of the shots I got Friday night at the annual Red, White and Kaboom festival in Hamilton, Ohio. We have one of the better 4th of July festivals in the Greater Cincinnati area. I actually had a few shots come out really nice. I was stuck kind of close to the monument, but it's one of the best positions to get the fireworks next to them, so there is some perspective problems in the images. I been going through and fixing them up as I get the time. I took 110 images total, so I doubt I will get them all done.

I caught this image really quick. I wasn't expecting to, but it just happened. Came out pretty good, considering I was using a manual focus lens at the time.

Water drop photos is something I been wanting to try. I just saw this one on Flickr and it's motivating me to get out and try some. It's just hard to find the right shot, plus it means getting up early enough to catch a good morning dew.

Here's another shot of the storm we had move in the other night. I caught a little bit of lightning in this image, which is hard to do considering it was still somewhat light out. There was no editing done on this image. I debated trying to make an HDR out of it, and still might. Right now I got about 30 more images to download from my camera.

Last night we had a nice storm move in around dusk. With sunset, it made for a sort of "fireball" look in the sky. The picture came out so good, I decided to make this HDR image of it. You can view the original, unedited version here.

Another macro shot I took yesterday, as this little, white butterfly was feeding away.
On a related Flickr note, if you are running Firefox 3 (and you should be), it now supports color management. This is a great feature for viewing images on the web, especially ones from different cameras and applications using different color profiles. Instructions on enabling this feature can be found here.

Snapped the shot of this little guy today while doing some work in the yard.

I took this Saturday at Young's Dairy Farm. I never intended for the shot to come out this way. Hell I don't even remember taking it, but it did come out pretty cool. I love how the one goat's eyes are just peeking up from the bottom and the other one s looking to the side. True some of the best images happen strictly by accident.

This was a "Out of Iraq" truck parked at Yellow Springs, Ohio during their street fair this weekend. Yellow Springs is the home of Antioch University, a liberal Haven buried deep in red Ohio. Great times to be had there!
