Bolton to the UN – Let's Pray Not!

White House press secretary Scott McLellan said today that
Bush could appoint John Bolton as UN ambassador for a recess appointment. This
would be nothing less than a detrimental blow diplomacy as we know it.

John Bolton has been the center of a heated, long time
debate in Senate. Rightfully so, his past tactics are less than diplomatic. He
has been accussed of being an abusive employer and resorting to harsh
obscenities and language to his subordinates. Even a Republican Senator that I
am very familiar with would not recommend him. That Senator is George Voinovich
from Ohio (my state).

One thing that could prove very interesting in this
appointment is the involvement of Bolton in the Valerie Plame case. It has been
reported that he has testified before the grand jury, which is something he lied
to Senate about. There is already speculation flying around the internet that he
is one of the key players in leaking out the identity of the former convert
agent. I myself have been one to agree with this theory. John Bolton has a
history that is a far cry from being exemplary.

Also one must not forget that John Bolton was one of the
authors of a report by the Project for a New American Century that said in 2000
we would need a Perl Harbor like attack in order to gain support to invade Iraq.
Either Mr. Bolton is psychic or there is more to this than everyone knows. I
don’t think he is any competition for Ms. Cleo so I will let you decide.

With Mr. Bolton sitting as our representative before the
rest of the world, we are surely in for even darker times than we already are
experiencing. Hopefully Senate will figure a way to prevent this appointment
from being long term. It can last throughout the end of this session which would
make him sit at the UN until January 2007. That is to long for a hot headed
bully like this to represent our nation!
