This is definitely one for the WTF column.
The U.S. military’s top commander said Wednesday that he underestimated the extent of the reluctance of the Iraqi people to accept a unified government, and he thought citizens would more quickly embrace the idea of a central government.
“I think that I certainly did not understand the depth of fear that was generated by the decades of Saddam’s rule,” said Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in an interview en route to Saudi Arabia. “I think a lot of Iraqis have been in the wait-and-see mode longer that I thought they would.”
The deep divisions within the country’s religions sects have triggered deadly attacks, particularly in the more volatile region north of Baghdad, including in Samarra where a sacred mosque was bombed last month.
How many times has Bush gone out and said that “The Iraqi’s want to live a free and democratic life”? Now the final reason he has given for the war is a bomb.
Here is an indicator that democracy is not a big thing in the Middle East (well actually two) – IRAN and PALESTINE. Both have elected the hard line leaders. To make it even worse, Bush always promotes democracy as “God’s will”. Wake up dipshit – they do not accept our God. All he does is make this sound more like a holy crusade then anything else. If Bush had one ounce of sense in his thick head he would have realized this. Instead he has killed over 2,300 of our soldiers.
