Bush Continues To Let Terrorists Roam Free

When we first heard that Osama was allowed to escape at Tora Bora, people asked why. Now we are finding out another most wanted has been allowed to remain free under George Bush’s command:

A former top CIA spy says the United States deliberately turned down several opportunities to kill terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in the lead-up to the Iraq war.

Mike Scheuer headed the CIA’s bin Laden unit for six years before resigning in 2004.

He has told the ABC’s Four Corners program the Bush administration had Zarqawi in its sights almost every day for a year.

He says a plan to destroy Zarqawi’s training camp in Kurdistan was abandoned for diplomatic reasons.

“The reasons the intelligence service got for not shooting Zarqawi was simply that the President and the National Security Council decided it was more important not to give the Europeans the impression we were gunslingers,” he said.

“Mr Bush had Mr Zarqawi in his sights for almost every day for a year before the invasion of Iraq and he didn’t shoot because they were wining and dining the French in an effort to get them to assist us in the invasion of Iraq.”

Make no mistake we will hear plenty of spin on this. It will be anywhere from “disgruntled employees” to “military operations are not always as they seem”. The fact of the matter is simple – Bush needs these people. His leadership is one conducted using fear. He does not just declare he is “a war time President”, we gloats in it.

This is a very dangerous personality we are dealing with. Bush has shown he does not care for lives lost in Iraq, U.S. or otherwise. He does not care that he is leading our nation into what could be its darkest times. He does not care that he has built up record debts that will be passed onto our children and grandchildren, nor does he care that he has taken everything that meant America and destroyed it – civil liberties, land of opportunities, etc.

Bush will not have Osama, Zarqawi or any other key figure in the war on terror captured or killed. He wants them out there making tapes and reeking havoc so he can continue his campaign of “leading by fear”.

Luckily the American people are not the idiots that Bush thinks they are. Instead Americans are realizing what is going on and how ineffectively, recklessly and dangerously Bush has conducted the wars in Iraq and on Terror. This awakening by the American people will be proven this fall in the polling places where Americans have their duty to show the true lack of support for George Bush by the only means available in a mid-term election – replacing one branch of government with a party that will hold the executive branch accountable.

No matter what spin the administration tries to put on this, make no mistake it is still George Bush’s fault. He claims his “constitutional duty” time and time again. Well the constitution also states that Bush is the Commander in Chief of our armed forces and by that it means he is ultimately responsible for the failures of the armed services.
