Just like deciphering the start of a problem in grade school, you always got to look deep into the facts to distill rightwing rhetoric. Since the Tucson shooting the right has strummed up the chorus to scream and shout that the left needs to stop politicizing the event. While there was some politicization from the left, none of it has been as vitriolic as that coming from the right. It’s the old “practice what I preach, not what I do” rhetoric we have sadly become used to.
I pointed some of this out earlier this week when wingnut blogger Jim Hoft started a big stink saying that President Obama lied at the memorial service when he said Gabby Giffords first opened her eyes. It got so bad that the doctors actually had to stop treating patients to go out and answer questions about it, backing up what the President said. Of course to the right these doctors are nothing but leftist liars, which is really ironic when you think about how the right always says doctors hate Obama because of health care reform.
Sadly though that smear was just the start of it. Jim Hoft is continuing to point out the evils of the memorial event:
Just when you think popular right wing blogger Jim “Dim” Hoft (Gateway Pundit) couldn’t possibly post anything more stupid than his last post, he finds a way to take it to the next level of numbskullitude.
Today’s entry in the “Hoft Chronicles of Sheer Stoopit” has him trying to claim that the White House prompted the audience to applaud at the “Together We Thrive” memorial (with his usual taste and class, Hoft calls it a “pep rally”): If White House Was Surprised by Applause at Tucson Pep Rally… Why Did They Ask For It On Jumbotron?
Since Hoft likes to float these smears and then de
[..]
That’s right. Hoft doesn’t understand that he’s looking at the closed captioning for deaf audience members.
Here’s Hoft’s big evidence:
So they told them to applaud, but what did they mean by when they told the crowd to school? And if Hoft’s stupidity isn’t bad enough, other big names on the right are pushing the same flat out lie, like Doug Ross and Ed Driscoll.
Really – how do you argue with such ignorance?
But wait…..there’s more!
This wasn’t Hoft’s lowest point of the week:
What a shock.
Yesterday Charles Johnson was praising this far left crackpot for blaming conservatives for the Tuscon shootings.
(One more time: The tea party had nothing to do with the shootings. The shooter was an insane left-wing pothead.)Today that same freak was arrested and charged with with threats and intimidation and disorderly conduct.
And Hoft finishes his post with an update:
UPDATE: Fuller will undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
Charles is still on the loose.
But why would Fuller need a psychiatric evaluation?
Towards the end of an otherwise thoughtful town hall, there was a single incident: James Eric Fuller, who was shot at the Safeway last week, allegedly made a threatening comment to another audience member, Tucson Tea Party co-founder Trent Humphries. It is unclear whether Humphries heard Fuller and the two never engaged. According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Fuller used a cell phone to take a picture of Humphries and allegedly said, “You’re dead.”
So this guy was shot a week ago during the Tucson massacre. I think this guy deserves to be a little frustrated and even vent out, though he did go a little to far. But these are facts that Hoft doesn’t want people to know about because they don’t fit into the smears, lies and politicization he is trying to promote.
Adding….On the subject of Hoft’s last post I pointed out, I find it really interesting that Hoft is classifying the shooter as a “left-wing pothead” because of a post on InfoWars. I have seen the right turn more and more to sites like that and Prison Planet as some sort of authority. These are the same sites that constantly pushed the whole “9/11 was an inside job” crapsiracy theories. I guess the right now buys into those also?
