President Obama is getting more forceful in his fight for real health care reform, which is a much welcomed site. Yesterday he started invoking FDR and reminding people how the Republicans opposed social security. Then during the Johnson years they opposed Medicare. In both fights the GOP labeled the people pushing for change as “socialists”.

So I was just thinking – why not try something new? Let’s give the opponents an option to opt-out of any government run health care. Fill out and sign a simple form and you don’t have to worry about it. You can also claim this as an exemption on your income tax so you don’t have to pay as much.

Think about how that would look if we had it. When these people stand up at townhalls and start bitching about “socialism”, the congress person holding the meeting can say “hear – sign this form and you won’t have to worry about it”. I wonder how many would? My guess – not many at all.
