"Lay Off My Wife"

That's what Obama is telling the Tennessee GOP:

Obama, his party's presidential front-runner, and his wife, Michelle, were asked in an interview aired Monday on ABC's "Good Morning America" about an online video last week by the state's GOP taking her to task for a comment some considered unpatriotic.

"The GOP, should I be the nominee, can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record," Obama said. "If they think that they're going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful because that I find unacceptable, the notion that you start attacking my wife or my family."

Good for him. I am sure the Republicans will jump on this about Michelle being "fair game" and all, but they need to remember back to 2004 when Dick Cheney's lesbian daughter was brought up during a debate about gay marriage. They weren't too happy about that one.

The Important Lessons Of Last Night's GOP Debate

Posted 1/25/08 at 9:33am by jamie

Once you get past all the lies told last night at the GOP debate, I think there was one important message sent out by all the candidates, except Ron Paul. That message is simple - "We support George Bush". They tried to pin all the problems in America today on the Democrats. Considering the Democrats have only been in charge of Congress for a year, and that year was mostly ineffective due to Republican stonewalling, it shows that the Republican candidates are unwilling to take any responsibility for their failures.

What it comes down to is that the Republicans want to be the "feel good" party. They want to feel good about their own party, while ignoring the failures of their party. Perhaps the social conservatives should take them to task on that very notion. While the candidates are patting the party on their backs, ask them what has happened to the social conservative agenda? You don't hear any of them talking about Roe or gay marriage. Evangelicals - they have forgotten you.

Conservative Values = Cut Soldiers Protection

A report conducted by the Pentagon yesterday was released which said that at
least 80% of the marines who died in Iraq did so from upper chest injuries,
meaning that if they had been given the proper equipment which has been
available since 2003 they would of survived.

Now this report is a preliminary report and they only took 93 case studies
but it most likely represents some pretty solid numbers. Further more it doesn't
address vehicle armor. How many soldiers have died because their vehicles didn't
have the proper armor?

This truly puts into perspective all those stories we have heard in the media
of families of soldiers sending money to their loved ones serving so they can
purchase items to armor their vehicles and themselves. I understand the notion
of a volunteer army as I was a volunteer firefighter. Being a volunteer
firefighter, our department supplied us with everything we needed to remain
safe. I would expect the same from the most advanced army that serves the
richest nation in the history of mankind.

To really make this matter bad is the fact that we did not have to go to Iraq
when we did. We could of delayed the war and made sure the armor was
manufactured and supplied to the troops. Instead, George Bush wish his cowboy
antics decided to hurry up and get in there without a) capturing Osama and b)
making sure our military was ready.

The families of fallen soldiers really need to start pushing for Congress to
act before we see another 2193 of our soldiers die needlessly in this unjust
war. If you agree with the purpose of the war or not, no one can agree with the
reckless manor in which it has been fought.
